I'm going to buy mine tomorrow biggrin Has anyone else heard of them? It's supposed to be a lovely alternative to tampons and pads, which get sent to landfills.

Yep. I use the DivaCup myself. I really like it, but don't trust it enough to wear white pants on those days.

Can you tell me where it's sold? I went to Walgreens, Whole Foods, and Walmart looking for one, but couldn't find it. My mum got me those INSTEAD Cups instead, because she wanted me to see if I was okay with the feeling of them. But since my period ended unexpectedly short, I never really got the chance to try one on today.

But having the INSTEAD Cups kinda goes against the whole reason I wanted to try the DivaCup to begin with; no waste.

I've tried the INSTEAD cups and they don't work at ALL for me- they feel weird and leak constantly.
I've used my DivaCup for many years now (I had The Keeper before that, but I developed a sensitivity to the rubber and it started giving me constant yeast infections and UTIs). It's FANTASTIC. So much more comfortable than pads or tampons.
I got mine online, but I've occasionally seen them at Whole Foods and more often at independent healthfood stores.

Whole foods sells divacups. Many natural stores will as well. I'd be highly surprised to see menstrual cups sold in mainstream stores.

I currently use a divacup and I love it. LOVE it. okay.

One major bit of advice is to expect a learning curve your first 2 or 3 cycles. It can take a bit to figure out exactly the best way to insert one in your body, so leakages and such can happen when you first start using a divacup.

Menstrual cups also come with a short stem attached to the bottom to help insert and take out. It's perfectly fine to trim these stems until you are comfortable. I've cut the stem off completely on mine.

There are also websites that offer instructions for DIY menstrual pads.

I bought my DivaCup at the local health store, and I've seen them at WholeFoods. Instead cups look interesting, it's a shame it's disposable.

After looking at all the one legged woman diagrams again, I think I've been putting mine up too high, so that's why it's leaking.

http://www.lunapads.com/ sells the reusable pads.

I've also had some success with sea sponges, but I had some concerns about their harvesting, so haven't bought new ones.

I found sea sponges were too difficult to keep clean. It's much easier to rinse out a menstrual cup than sit there and make sure you have the blood and other bodily fluids out of every sponge pore. neutral

I barely insert my menstrual cup before opening it. I found that at the beginning I was putting mine too high as well and it wasn't forming a proper seal.

Well this is interesting to say the least. I'm curious and looked up the closest store. It seems there is one about 7 miles away. The next closest is 45 miles away. gonk I'll try to get a ride to the closer one. It's called "Mommys Helpers." Haha wow.

Yup!

They typically come in two or three different sizes. There might be some initial discomfort for you being "small", but the v****a is very elastic and you'll get used to it.

I guess I'll have to take another peek sometime, or buy online.

The thing with tampons are that they take moisture out - and your v****a is suppose to be moist. So, the tampon has sucked most of the moisture out - so that's probably why it hurts when you take it out.

With menstrual cups, the cup is made from latex/silicon which won't dry anything out. It's just a cup that will press up against you to prevent it from leaking. And, since it's just latex/silicon you won't have any chance of developing Toxic Shock Syndrome like you can from tampons. :3
