We are currently looking for "teachers" to start classes.

We are offerering anywhere between 500g - 1500g per class/discussion (we can/will raise/lower the payment range if we deem it necessary). The exact amount will of course depend on the depth and quality of the class/discussion. It's a monthly payment, so you will receive a payment for each month that your class is active.

To be able to receive payment your class/discussion will have to be approved of by [CREW]. This is so that random members don't think they can just make a thread with "hey, lets talk about auras" and then expect to get payment for that.

Note to all new 'teachers': You will not receive payment for your class right away. We can't determine a fair price until we see at least the first two lessons to see how in-depth your class is and how much interest it sparks!

Starlock and Soul of Solitude are now in charge of this subforum. I think they're both pretty caught up in real life stuff right now, so if you want to PM a lesson plan to me, that would be fine. smile

I'm not a staff or anything, but I teach myself on this Guild and it's pretty active ^^. It depends on how the class attracts students on whether or not they would enroll.

The guild itself is pretty active.

The problem with The Academy is not lack of interest in the classes, it's the lack of interest in the teachers. If you look at older classes that have shut down, you'll notice that most of them only lasted for one to three lessons or the teacher just didn't really keep up with the students.

Another thing, as a teacher, don't expect too much out of potential students. You need to remember that a lot of people in the guild are younger members who are still in school. Real life, especially school, should be a top priority. If they don't have time to do your assignments after they've finished everything they need to do in real life, then they're just not going to do them.

So, don't be unrealistic in your assignments. They shouldn't take more than half an hour to complete, if that.

You also need to be able to promote your own class. Offer some kind of student incentive (like a contest or small give-away). Reach out to the members. If you see a member posting a thread asking about tarot cards, and you're teaching a class on tarot, send them a PM. They may jus t not have noticed your class was here. All we can really do for you is to post an announcement in the announcement thread, but then, not everyone checks that thread. So, make sure that you can recruit some students on your own time too.

I'd like to start a class on divination. I know there's already a class on tarot, but I would like to do this. I'll probably cover a bit of tarot, but mostly use other forms of divination.
