They need to make a Suikoden-based anime! When people used the Runes it would look really cool animated! (Kool-aid man breaks through your monitor and says "Oh Yeah!")

That would be so awesome! But I'd want to see a TV series or a 13-part OVA that isn't just a remake of one of the games. Something entirely new, with a new hero and new stars of destiny, a new plot and a new setting! Or something like a Gaiden, like Nash ya, where the new hero can interrupt the plot and do his own thing on the side. Would be awesome to incorporate old characters and stuff, just like the games.
Would be wicked, but we're lucky enough to get a manga series! (Aah, Shimizu Aki is a Goddess!! heart ) Then again, series like Tales of Eternia and Star Ocean 2nd Story had their own anime... And the Star Ocean one turned out HORRIBLE!!! crying (It was so horribly bad... Painful... But the opening music was really cool!)

Arc the Lad 2 had an anime, and it was pretty good. It's much easier to draw manga, though... Arc the Lad 2, Chocobo no Fushigi na Dungeon (Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon), Dragon Quest Monsters, SO2, SO: Blue Sphere, SO: Till the End of Time, Tales of Destiny, Tales of Eternia, Valkyrie Profile, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Tsurugi (Sword of Seals) and even Tactics Ogre and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue have official story manga. I'm just listing the ones I own, and that doesn't even include all the 4-koma... sweatdrop

It makes me wish there were more manga translations out there.. or at least, scanlations. ::whistles innocently:: I love the official translations for the GensuiIII manga, though. Someone did a good job, or at least tried, because they used suikosource.com as a reference in volume 1! xd Makes me happy to work at a bookstore... heart

I've been attempting to scanlate the Radiata Stories 4-koma I have, but I don't want to destroy the book just so I can scan the comics near the binding... Books are our friends... *sob*

The problem with game-turned-anime is that they seldom abide to the storyline, or mess up the characterisation. For example, take a look at SO2's Ashton and SO EX's Ashton. As for Arc the Lad, the storyline in the anime took a 360 degrees turn with the entrance of Clive- a character that never existed in the game and somehow managed to make the anime totally separate from the game.
(IMO, the game was better anyway)
I think that the biggest problem if they made Suiko into an anime would be the 108 Stars of Destiny- exactly how many can you fit into a series without making it overly full? And how would they switch between games?
If they were to do a long-running anime on ALL the Suikoden games, they would have to make many characters returning characters. We have Georg Prime who appears in Suikoden II, and is also slotted to return to Suikoden V. And what about Lucia? And Jowy? Usually, the conclusion of an anime dictates a remeeting of all the Tenkai Stars and (probably) the most memorable characters like Flik and Viktor. Wouldn't that be a little too much for the newly-introduced fans to the Suikoden anime to stomach?
In conclusion, yes, I disapprove of a Suikoden anime. There are too many things to sort out and if it ends up a flop- well there goes the fans' hopes down the drain. Let's hope that that doesn't happen.

Well, with the concept of a Suikoden anime (ignoring the short lived one that took place in a post-apocalyptic world, which we have discussed in this guild before) I see no problem with having th 108 stars of destiny. What that shows is that there is an assured 108 episodes atleast. An episode or two could be all about the events that come with recruiting a certain star.
I think the best way they could do this would be an original story, bringing some of the old stars of destiny.
Also, I liked the SO anime. The game was my favorite game of all time next to Suikoden II, and Earthbound. However, I thought the fact that the show varied in story and character personalities made it more interesting and unique as a story. And while at first I didn't like the brightness of the colors, I think it worked out farely well.

Quote: What that shows is that there is an assured 108 episodes atleast That's a little heavy on the people who know nothing about Suiko in the first place, don't you think? I'm sure that the animators will be trying to garner sales from non-Suiko fans as well as the hardcore Suikoden fans, and by featuring all the 108 SoDs, it's bound to scare off watchers. Is there actually a need to show all the 108 SoDs in the first place? Admittedly, not all 108 SoDs actually come into use throughout the entire game- for example, Esmeralda in the first game does nothing but sit and sip tea, looking pretty. Is there a need to waste precious screentime for characters like her? Quote: I think the best way they could do this would be an original story, bringing some of the old stars of destiny. In the end, that would be no different from making a new game totally. And I believe that the fans will be more for an anime of one of the existing games (I'm willing to bet that Suiko II will get more votes than most, save for Suikoden I) than a totally new storyline.

Well the thing about that is as you said though, the show wouldn't just be for pre-existing fans of the game series. And there plenty of examples of anime and games where the games and anime don't have to have the same story, the best example of which being .Hack, in which the games and shows play off of eachother with new characters and plots. Also with the stars of destiny, I'm not saying each of the 108 needs to have and in depth story, for example the chef could just be in the background, and maybe have an episode later when the writers would run out of ideas (like they could do something with the chef guild or whatever that the chefs in I and II were a part of). But this is making me sadder and sadder that such a show does not exist anyways, so I'm done crying

actually there WAS a one-shot suikoden anime called "Suikoden: Demon Century" which had the same 108 character concept but was totally gay (and i mean it, literally) and didn't look like it had anything to do with the game.
although suikoden anime does sound nice... i doubt if it would ever be given real justice since there are 108 characters and i doubt if everyone of them will be shown for more than a second without having to break the storyline.
