I was talking to my friend, or I should say, so called friend and he's an Atheist. He was recently banned for a week from the Atheist Guild on gaia for stating that, if he could, he would go back in time to kill Jesus...
I don't know what to do. Should I stay friends with him or what... I can't beleive he would even say that!

well that would give your friend a chance to deprivev Jesus of martardom thus avoiding some of the greatest tragities of written record Even I would have to think about that one kill one person and save millions...that really isn't a bad deal

Your friendship depends on two things: his willingness to be your friend, and your prayer for discernment.
What do you think God wants from you?
I have several atheist friends. I care very much about them, and I believe it is mutual. They know I am a devout Christian, I know they are atheist. But I am friends with them just the same. In our situation, God is calling me to live by example. We debate... sometimes, but the point of our friendship isn't argument. I live my life in a very particular way, and they see that. I am still preaching the Gospel to them - just not in words.
Some of them may never convert. I may never know the impact seeing my actions might have on them.
But one... one girl, after three years, converted. She never would have had she been pressured. She just was surrounded by Christians that actually lived our faith, and finally found Christ through our quiet examples.
So that could be one outcome of having an athiest friend. On the other hand, such a person may damage YOUR faith, and that's not good. So... pray about it. What do you feel is the right thing to do? What has God placed on your heart?

Yes, but technically Christ saved them, all the millions of Christians that have died have been brought to Heaven. So, they didn't really "die."

He wouldn't have been able to be killed until His time on Earth was done. That's why the Pharisees waited so long to arrest Him; there were too many followers. They had to wait until he'd gotten enough people mad so that they could use "mob therapy" (that's where people start hating other people, even though they really don't think they should. It works the opposite way, too. If a huge group of people want a suspect to go free, they'll form a huge group).
Now, I must point out here that getting someone mad is not necesarily a bad thing. Jesus said all His "I am"s because they were, are, and will always be true. Jesus cast the moneychangers out of the temple because they were using the House of God for selfish reasons. Since Jesus is God, He had a right to be angry. Did He hurt anyone? No. Did He get mad at them? Yes. The moneychangers could have met with the Pharisees and the Sanhedrin so they could get revenge. It probably didn't happen, but it's a possibility. As a result, He was illegally arrested during the night when He had few followers with Him, given an unfair trial where the only witnesses were people who had turned against Him.
It's simple. Look at Adam's name down to Noah's name. In the original Hebrew, they mean: Adam: Man Seth: Appointed Enosh: Mortal Kenan: Sorrow Mahalalel: The Blessed God Jared: Shall come down Enoch: Teaching Methuselah: His death shall bring Lamech: The despairing Noah: Rest, or comfort See it? "Man appointed mortal sorrow. The Blessed God shall come down teaching. His death shall bring the despairing rest and comfort." God had His plan laid out in the names of the firstborn of the 10 people from Adam to Noah inclusive.
Your friend's claim is an empty one. He would have joined the moneychangers in the temple that day Jesus cleared it out, but he wouldn't have been able to do anything until His arrest.
As for your relationship with him, keep him an acquaintance. I know lordstar doesn't like me to use Scripture to back all my claims, but, as 2 Corinthians 6:14-17a says, "14Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers, for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness? 15And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God. As God hath said: 'I will dwell in them and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.' 17Therefore, 'Come out from among them, and be ye separate,' saith the Lord."
I also agree with Ablazed and Kleopattra, though. Do the Father's business and live by example.

I say don't be friends, lol. I would ban him too, because that statement is so childish. If you really care about him though, do what you think is right.

I think you should take it up with God. What he said hurt you, so pray about it and see what God wants you to do. I personally would stay his friend, but ask him to restrain himself on those kinds of statements and actions in front of me, and from telling me about them. But ask him as a friend to friend, not christian to athiest. Plus the best way to help your friend is to be his friend, not his preacher. But the best thing to do is to pray about it. It's a personal decesion that should involve God.

I guess it all depends on what side of the meadow you stand on perspective is key to understanding the mind some see the wonders faith brings while others see not but rot and waste one thing is sure both sides may hear the screams of pain both sides try to fix what they see as a problem how do both sides go about doing so is the question to ask

I suppose the whole cause and effect kind of thing plays into this whole ordeal... I think I'll just let God decide on what to do and stop worrying about it XD

Pardon my language but, Jesus! You are questioning your friendship with this guy? If you do that, you must not be that close to him. Now he has his views, you have yours. Yes he made a shock statement, yes it offends y'all, but, he is your friend. Either accept his views or shut up. I mean no offense but this is a tad ridiculous. You get extremists in every belief system. Don't act so shocked.

Well, no offense, but I didn't think that he would make a statement saying he would want to kill Jesus. He's, you know, my Savior and it's shocking as to how he would think like that...
