All images shown are hosted on my photobucket because i don't mind eating up my bandwidth, but i mind eating up others xD About Amber and Chocolate About Taelence______________________ Taelence lay beside the lake's edge, dangling one paw lazily in the water. Amber had promised to meet her here around noon, but Tael had gotten there early eager to see her friend again. Now she regretted it if only for the fact that there wasn't much to do until Amber showed up. If there was one thing Tael hated, it was being bored.
It did, however, give her a chance to think upon Chocolate, Amber's brother-like figure. He confused her. Amber had told Tael that Chocolate more than likely found her attractive, which had startled her. Taelence hadn't ever thought of herself as pretty or beautiful. She'd just been plain old Taelence. But staring at her reflection in the water now, Tael could see how people would find her attractive.
She swirled her paw around, watching the ripples distort her image.
No, I'm not bad to look at, she thought. There are surely others prettier than me, but I could hold my own against them if I wished.
And it wasn't as if Taelence didn't find Chocolate attractive either. He really was quite handsome. But Taelence wasn't sure if she was attracted to him or just felt friendship towards him. It was, all in all, a confusing situation and she didn't quite know what to make of it.
She batted at her reflection in annoyance, sending the water flying. Sitting here and brooding about it wasn't going to help. Time would tell and until it did Taelence would just have to be patient.
She sighed and lay her head down, dosing in the afternoon sun.

Chocolate walked along the lakeside looking for the white female that he and Amber had met the other day. He saw her at the opposite side of the large lake and slowly walked towards her, thinking, as he always did. She is different from Amber and how they could have ever gotten to be close friends still suprises him. However, he is even more suprised at the confusion that he is feeling towards her. At times, he found himself thinking her quite attractive. He always get teased by Amber because of that but however, being in a relationship is a serious thing and he would not be entirely involved unless he is certain that it would work.
He reached Taelence, deep in thought, to find her dozing slightly in the afternoon sun. Not sure if he should wake her or not, Chocolate walked towards the lake and started flipping pebbles into it for fun... Amber has to help Izzy with some last minute preparation for her work and she sent him here first just so Taelence would not be kept waiting.
Arching his neck up so that his face could feel the warmth of the sun, Chocolate closes his eyes and is content. He loves being outdoors and this is just a perfect day to be out in the sun...

Taelence opened one eye and it took everything she had not to startle. She hadn't heard him walking up, and she was sure he wouldn't like a loud out burst like the one she'd been about to utter. She closed her eye and sighed a bit. The image of him, face warmed by the sun, was now firmly planted in her mind. And if she were to be completely honest with herself, she would have to admit that Chocolate was a very handsome male fox.
"Lovely warmth, isn't it?" she remarked, keeping her eyes closed. "One of the best summer days we've had yet." She sighed again and shifted a bit, trying to find a more comfortable position.

Chocolate turned to Taelence when he heard her speak. "Indeed. There are not many days this year as beautiful as today. A glorious day indeed," And as beautiful as you are. Chocolate thought to himself.
However, he continued, "I guess you must be wondering where Amber is at. She sent me here first to explain to you. Amber is helping Isabelle on some small details on Isabelle's work and would be here in a short while. She also sent her apologies with me and hope that you will accept them,"
Chocolate walked a little towards Taelence and said in a softer voice, "I hope I did not alarm you. You were sleeping when I arrived and I think it does not seem proper for me to wake you up. Some might think that it is rude..."

Talence opened her eyes and looked up into Chocolate's face. There was hidden meaning in his first statement, but for the life of her she couldn't find it. But she smiled when she heard where Amber was.
"That sounds so much like Amber, I'm not surprised," Tael laughed a little to herself. "She'd do anything for Isabelle. Of course I accept her apologies. How could I not?"
She stared across the crystal, clear lake letting the sun soak further into her bones down to her very soul.
"You did startle me, a bit. But nothing I can't handle," she raised her paw and flicked at the water. "I probably should have been more aware actually. There's no telling what could have got me." she smiled up at him. "So don't feel bad for waking me. Plus it would be a little rude to sleep in the company of another, even if one does not know that she does it."
She gestured to the open space beside her.
"Won't you sit down?"

Chocolate went to the lush green grasses next to Taelence and sat down laughing a little. "Yes. Amber would do anything for Isabelle. They are so close... I guess it must be because Amber is Isabelle's first kit. She had her since Amber was in a bowl and waited for about a week before she emerged,"
She looked even more beautiful from where he sits now... In the sun, Taelence is like a flower, blooming ever so gracefully... Chocolate sighed to himself...
"Sleeping alone out here would definitely be unsafe. However, it would not be rude to sleep when others are around if you are tired and you do look a little fatigued yourself. Have you not been sleeping well?" Chocolate asked looking straight into Taelence's eyes.

Taelence scooted a little to the side to give Chocolate more room.
"I can understand the attachment. As crazy as she is, I feel the same for Crimson," Tael stared back at him, and her breath caught. Have his eyes always done that to me? She couldn't remember. She looked away and took a breath to calm herself. Just give it time, and then...well we'll see.
"We always love the ones whom first take us in. They don't have to, and they barely know us. Yet they love us all the same and ask nothing in return except that love. Sometimes not even that," she looked into his eyes again, but she didn't have the same earth-shattering feeling as before. "There's a connection that forms, whether we like it or not. And then we are bound to each other equally."
There was a content smile on Tael's face as she watched a heron fish for its meal on the lake. But she chose her next words carefully.
"Yes....and no," she peered into his eyes before returning her gaze back to the heron. "It's hard to explain. I'll try to tell you, but if I loose you, I am sorry..."
She drew in a breath and let it out slowly.
"Have you ever felt like you were meant to do something? To be somewhere other than where you are? I feel this magnetic pull; it's always with me. It's more intense at night, when I don't have any other thoughts to focus on. It keeps me awake at night, but when I do finally fall asleep I have the sweetest dreams and it all seems to be worth it. Amber relieves some of the tension. So maybe it's just that I am constantly in a state of wanting more than I have to keep me occupied," she sighed. "There is one thing I hate most in the world; I hate being bored. I feel like I'm waiting for a spark to come and bring color to my black and white world." she sighed. "But then again, the sun has a way of soothing you and putting you to sleep, so perhaps the rest is all just in my head."
Taelence blushed suddenly. She'd never completely told anyone how she really felt like that before.
"You have the strangest ability to bring the truth from my heart, Chocolate," she said not meeting his eyes. "Why do you suppose that is?"

"Hmm... Even though I did not grow up with Isabelle, she still took me in and took care of me as if I was with her since young. I am forever in her debt. She gave me a home to go back to, a sister like Amber and also she is a very delightful companion whenever I need someone to talk to as well,"
Stopping awhile to gather his thoughts, Chocolate continues on, "I understand how you feel Taelence. When I was living in the wild, I was so carefree, there is nothing that I need to be worried about. I could always find food since there are always berries in the wild. There would always be a roof over my head no matter how hard I had to look for it during the day. My life is as flitting as the wind, going everywhere but stopping nowhere. I had all that I wanted to have. Or so I thought,"
Looking straight into Taelence's eyes, Chocolate carried on, "I was walking in the woods like I normally do one day when I met an old eagle. He died that very night after our short talk but our conversation changed me. It made me think that there should be more to my life than just wandering about the woods every single day of my life. That there are more things that I can do for the world than just wasting my time away and dying one day without anyone to remember me by, to die without leaving behind me anything. I do not want that to happen. Since that day onwards, I have been looking everywhere, asking every single little critter that I see about my discovery. But none of them could answer my questions to my expectations. None of them understood how I felt,”
“It was then during the lowest time of my life that Amber found me. Appearing into my world and brought back life into it. She told me that as long as I have friends, they will still remember me even when I am gone from this world. Although knowing her, she did give me a lot more lectures than just that,”
Chocolate smiled a little at that memory of that single moment before forging on.
“And so I followed her back to Isabelle and from then on became part of their family. Even then, there is still a part of me that yearns for something completely different than a just a family. I still am not perfect yet, and I am always looking for that someone who could make me whole,”
Chocolate gave one of his most charming smiles and looked at the blushing Taelence. “I am not sure why that is Taelence. Perhaps we are just soul mates who can unknowingly bring out the truth in each other?” He said teasingly with just a hint of seriousness in his tone. “I have not even told Amber how I felt all this while knowing that she would not understand, naive as she is,”

Taelence smiled, glad to finally know someone who felt like her. The blush was slowly growing, she could feel it, and it took everything in her whole being to push it down.
"Isabelle sounds wonderful. And Amber, as silly as she can be, I wouldn't change one inch of her for anything in the world," she flicked at the water again. "The old eagle must have been wise beyond his years, to give such advice that you carry it with you even now."
Tael sighed.
"I don't know if I believe in soul-mates," she looked into his eyes. "For, say that the one you're supposed to be with dies, and you meet another, is that the one you were supposed to be with? Or was it the first and the second is just a filler? Or were both made for you? And if you were to put them both side by side which one would you suppose you would pick, if they were both for you?" Taelence shook her head. "Too many unanswered questions and not enough answers."
Taelence stared out across the water. Something struck a cord though.
"You haven't told Amber how you feel?"

Chocolate sighed. “No I have not. I never got the chance to tell her for one. Whenever I tried to tell her, she is always busy with Isabelle or occupied with something else. So I decided to tell her another time but we never really got the chance to sit down and talk. I gave up on it some time back. It is easier for Amber to just go on like this now. If I did tell her, she would be quite worried about me and I do not want to cause her any anxiety over such a trifle matter as this,”
Standing up, Chocolate walked towards a bush by an apple tree, picked up some blueberries with his mouth and brought it back to Taelence. “It is nearly lunch now. Are you not hungry?” he asked while putting down the berries in front of Taelence.
Chocolate sat back down and took a berry for himself.
“You know. Sometimes there can be more than one soul mate in this world. These few would be the ones to be there for you through thick and thin, and would always know how you feel. I know Amber is one of mine. She always knows when I am sad although I tried hard to hide it from her. Although she is pretty good at seeing through people, I pride myself in hiding my feelings as well and she always knows when things are not right. You should know yourself how she is. However, I know she could not always be there for me. She will one day like all others, have a family of her own and where will that leave me?”
“Taelence, you think too much,” Chocolate smiled at her while saying this. “Why not let things happen, then only decide whether it is right or wrong? If you play it safe all the time, even if you do find that which you seek, it will slip from your grasp and you might never find it again. Sometime risks are what make this world exciting. You said yourself you are scared to be bored. But if you never wanted to take the chance, your life will never get moving. Have you heard of this before? To laugh is to risk appearing the fool To weep is to risk appearing sentimental To reach out for another is to risk involvement To expose feelings is to risk exposing our true self To place your ideas, your dreams, before the crowd is to risk loss To love is to risk not being love in return To live is to risk dying To hope is to risk despair To try it all is to risk failure But risk we must, because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing. The one who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, is nothing,” He cocked up an eyebrow as he observed her after his words were said.

His words rang deep in her heart. All that he had said: wasn't that what she wanted? What if he was right, in a way. What if she was too afraid of risking what she had now? Was it worth it? Was it worth it to take the plunge without a parachute??
Who's going to catch me?
Too many thoughts were filling her head, too fast, it was all just too much. She couldn't stand it. Her breathing became sharp and she knew she wasn't taking in enough oxygen. If she really started to hyperventilate then she would pass out.
I need to focus.
She tried thinking of the beach, with it's warmth and laid back attitude. But the image wouldn't hold.
No good. I need something more solid.
Chocolate's voice. Soft and smooth, like a diamond sliding over black velvet. Deep and rich, a voice you could listen to for hours. She ran, not his words but how he sounded, through her mind taking deep calming breaths. Slowly she calmed down.
Now she couldn't look at him. The blush she had forced down before reached up with reinforcements. She toyed with the berry Chocolate had set before her. Now I'm really not hungry...
"Panic attack," she murmured. "I haven't had one of those since I was a kit..."
"Now you think me silly, because it's obvious: I'm afraid of commitment. Strange, why couldn't I have discovered that before this moment?" she murmured more to herself than him. She let out a sigh. "I've become too content with what I have without even knowing it, and yet I still want more. I wonder," she looked up into the trees that rimmed the lake. "Do I even have the strength to go after what I want anymore?"

Chocolate looked at Taelence anxiously... She was taking in deep breaths really fast like she could not breathe. A panic attack, that’s what it is. Waiting for her to calm down was a nightmarish experience. He felt so hopeless, like there is nothing he could do to help her because he did not know what to do in situations like this. Her breathing gradually settled back to normal and he breathe in a sigh of relief. A slight pink blush rose on her cheeks.
She is really beautiful...
“I am sorry if what I said had caused you pain. I hope you accept my apology. If it upsets you, I would not continue on this topic any longer. However, I would answer your question. Everyone can reach what they want if their resolve is strong enough. Where there is a will, there is always a way. And I am sure that whatever you pursue, you will get it in the end. If you reach a dead end or lose your way, your friends are always here to guide you back to safety,” A strange look came upon Chocolate’s eyes as he said this.
Chocolate realise that talking to Taelence had opened up a door to his heart. A door he never knew could be opened till now. A warm tingling feeling washed over his being. The door to his heart is now open and is overflowing with something that he could not ignore. His feelings are in turmoil now. He does not know what to do with this new found emotion of his. He wanted to protect Taelence from the pain that he sees she is suffering from now. He wanted to be the one she could depend on. So many thoughts are whizzing around in his head now giving him a slight headache.
Taking in a deep breath, Chocolate opened his mouth and said slowly, "Taelence, would you accept me into your life? Not as a friend. But as something much more than that. I love you. In this short time that I have talked to you I find myself falling for you. Perhaps you might not believe me but it is true. I want to be the one who would be there for you always. I want to be the one you can turn to in times of trouble. I will bring you happiness always and I promise that every single moment in your life will not be dreary any longer. Will you accept me?”
Looking into Taelence’s eyes, Chocolate felt a blush creeping up his face. He never thought he could make a speech such as that. He had laid all his feelings bare for her to see. For her to decide whether to accept him or not. This is very much unlike him. He was always one to hide his feelings behind those walls of stone. What could have induced him to speak like this is out of his reasoning. What’s out is out. There is no taking it back. Holding his breath, he waits for her reply.

Chocolate's last words sent Taelence into another panic attack, but the good kind. Her heart raced, her eyes sparkled, her breathing became rapid and the light blush became a full fledged rouge mark on her cheeks. Out of her mouth came a high pitched giggle and then she hiccuped. Warmth spread through out her body, from tail to nose tip. Had she known that she could feel this way? Did she care!?
I wonder if this is what it feels like to be high? she thought, for surely she'd never felt such exhilaration.
Chocolate was everything she ever could have hoped for. He was kind, considerate, and thoughtful. He was handsome yet he had the mind and intelligence to hold a long and meaningful conversation. He was serious, to offset her sometimes brain-making silliness, but he knew how to have fun as well. He was brave and loyal; she wouldn't ever have to fear a wandering eye or worry about her safety, no matter how much she could take care of herself. Yet he was still a bit of a mystery to her. She'd never get bored of him, and they would keep learning from each other. He would keep her on her toes. Tael couldn't have asked for a better fox.
So maybe jumping wouldn't be so bad...
As long as he was there to catch me.
She calmed herself down, again, until she could form a proper thought without breaking into girlish giggles. When the only tell tale sign of her giggle fit was two tiny pink dots on her cheeks, she sighed and leaned against Chocolate.
"We're going to have to tell Amber now, aren't we? After all, if we kept it from her she'd probably find some way to torture us. I don't know about you, but I'd rather have Amber on my side rather than against me. She can be pretty scary when she wants to," She gazed up at him, adoringly.

Chocolate sighed in contentment as Taelence leaned against him. The feeling that is coursing through him now is beyond any description. The knowledge of knowing that Taelence is feeling the same about him is just so overpowering. And he would do anything at all in the world to keep that look in Taelence’s eyes. Looking back at her lovingly he replied laughing, “For all we know, Amber could have faked helping Isabelle to give us some time together,”
“Well, aren’t you glad I was detained today Chocolate?” Amber stepped out from some bushes nearby. “And in case you are wondering, I do have to help Izzy. However, I did take my time in doing it to give you two some alone time together,” Amber grinned while saying this and looked at both her best friend and her brother... “Don’t you like how it turned out?” She asked looking at the blushing Chocolate.
“Well... Although I think I should be mad at you for setting us up, I could not for the life of me get mad at you now. You should apologize to Taelence though,”
Still grinning Amber said, “Sorry Tael, for setting you up. I just thought that the both of you are in need of some time together to talk things out. But it worked out in the end did it not?”

Taelence barely noticed Amber, though she registered that she'd somehow slipped into the conversation. She settled closer to Chocolate, if that was even possible, and licked his cheek before nuzzling him. Then she forced herself to focus on Amber. She grinned wickedly.
"That's all right Amber," there was a playful glint to her blue eyes. "I'll just force Yakuza on you. That's punishment enough."
But she looked back into Chocolate's eyes and lost herself in them. She found that she could no more be mad at Amber than she could at the rain for dripping on her.
"Then again," she said her voice soft and full of love. "Maybe you should receive a trophy for Best Match Maker."
She forced herself to concentrate on Amber again and found it extremely hard.
I've become silly, she thought. Chocolate can bring me to my knees; all he needs to do is be around me.
"How was helping Izzy, Amber?"
