The small leopon was deep in sleep, his tail and shoulder twitching constantly. His feet started moving, and he was running on his side. His lips curled into a smile and then a grin. Suddenly his golden eyes flew open and his movements stopped. He blinked a few times, then shook his head and yawned. "What a strange dream." He muttered, looking around the den. He saw no sleeping forms of his family, then remembered they must be out hunting.

The spotted cub stretched out his long body, yawning once more. His claws dragged through the dirt, making a few lines in it before retracting back into his flesh.

Jahazi walked into the sunlight, closing his eyes against the harsh rays at first. He quickly got used t it though and he made his way into the warm sun. Looking around, he blinked a few times as he made his way towards the small watering hole not far from their den. He wondered if his family would be there after their hunting lesson.

So once again, what had started out to be a perfect hunting lesson had been ruined. Duzi didn't really know by who, or by what, but halfway through, the preybeast had run off and, he wasn't sure about the others, he had had no interest in running out after it.

They were still just cubs, after all, he figured, so for a while yet they wouldn't necessarily need to know how to hunt. Yes, he was glad that such a thing as mothers existed in the world. And for this short while, the cubs could have their fun romping and playing and, in Duzi's case, dreaming.

The little leopon padded his way slowly toward his favorite rock. There was a little tree of sorts right beside it, so there was a nice enough shade and the rock was shaped flat and perfect for sitting or lying on. Obviously, he had his reasons to like it.

He walked with as if he had all the time in the world, just to look around him and take in the sights, as if his life completely lacked the haste and chaos of any other life. His, it would seem from his very posture, was one of perfection.

He reached his rock and, just as carefreely as he had done everything else up to that point, he clambered onto his and flopped down. Ahh. The simple joys of life.

Jahazi splashed in the small watering hole, watching a small fish circle around and around. He tried to catch it playfully, his attempts futile as the slippery critter wriggled away time and time again.

The small cubs attention was quickly brought form the water creature, as he caught the scent of a familiar form on the wind. Duzi! He looked around, and spotted his brother on the rock he was usually on. He wondered if the hunting trip had gone well and he bounded over to his sibling, looking up at him from the ground.

"Heya Duzi!" He said happily, his eye and tail twitching quickly at his excitement. The two brothers seemed rather opposite, Jahazi full of energy and always moving, Duzi regal and still. "Whatcha doin'? How'd the hunt go, huh?"

He sat with his eyes half closed, watching the world, but only barely, as he sat and let his mind run wild. Imagination, that was how he survived. It was, he had realized, the one thing that nobody could ever take away from him. They could take his food, or his water, or his freedom. But so long as he could dream, he would always be alright.

That was assuming, though, that after all that, he still had the will to dream. He doubted that anything could take away that spirit he had in him, but sometimes it was hard to tell. After all, he was still just a cub, and so far as he was concerned, he wasn't about to be captured and sold into slavery.

Duzi's eyes opened at the sound of his brother's voice. Ah, Jahazi. He always had time for his family, even if it meant putting his own thoughts aside for a while.

"Hey," He said with that strange lopsided grin of his. He had wondered a few times how there was such a wide range in personalities in the one litter. "It was... It ran away." He said, referring to the preybeast. He knew he should have paid some more attention, but he really hadn't. He didn't have the attention for something so boring as hunting.

Jahazi frowned at the news. "Awww, that's too bad." He said, though he quickly brightened up again. "I bet you'll get it next time!" He said with a happy nod.

"Oh yeah, you wanna play a game Duzi? Do ya, do ya?" He jumped up and down, his energy overflowing. "It goes like this, right. Are you listening? Okay. Ready? Okay. It's like, first I touch you." He walked over and set a paw on his brothers shoulder. "See. Then, you're it! And then you have to tag me back! But you gotta catch me first!" He grinned and skipped away, prancing in the tall grass and sticking his bum up in the air playfully. "Come and catch me Duzi!"

Duzi shrugged and nodded. He was probably right. There was always next time. "Maybe," He agreed. Maybe next time he would pay more attention. So far, all he had taken away from all the hunting lessons was that it was boring, and that loud noises got you out of them. How helpful.

The cub sat up as his brother explained the game. Well. Game was perhaps too strong a word for it. At least, Duzi couldn't quite see the point.

"So I just... try to touch you?" He asked with a little frown. "That's it?" It didn't seem all that hard to him. And in truth, what kind of a game was that? Running around trying to touch each other and then running the other way.

Then again, Duzi's ability to recognize games was not quite as finely honed as the rest of his siblings. His idea of a good time was curling up somewhere and heading off into a dream. Each new place meant a new adventure all for himself.

Jahazi nodded with excitement, his eye twitching uncontrollably. "Yup yup!" He said, prancing around in the grass. "Come on Duzi, it's fun!"

"OR OR OR!" He suddenly shouted, stopping and looking at his brother with an expression of enlightenment. "We could play... WRESTLING!" He suddenly leaped over to the rock, with a surprising amount of grace and speed, and jumped on top of his brother with a giggle.

Jahazi was obviously not a thinker or a dreamer, he had much too much energy for such contemplative things. But he loved his brother and he chewed his ear with that love.

"Yea, but it-" He stopped as Jahazi burst out shouting. How typical of Jahazi, the uncontrollable energy and excitement. Duzi was always sure he would never be able to survive anywhere without all that energy nearby. He would die of boredom, surely.

"Wrestling? N-no-no," Duzi did not wrestle. Well, he did, but it was not something he enjoyed on a day to day basis. Not a good idea.

He took a small step back, even as Jahazi launched himself toward him, he crumpled in a heap under his brother's weight. Ohh, wonderful.

"Mmmrf!" He managed to say, with his face in the dirt. Oh, how fun.

Jahazi laughed jovially, rolling off his brother and onto his back, in the dirt beside him. He grinned over at Duzi, his paws in the air.

"That was fun! Whatcha wanna do now, Duzi?" He asked, rolling onto his stomach and looking at his brother with expectation. He wanted Duzi to come up with a new game, even though he knew his brother wasn't one for wrestling and whatnot. That was why Jahazi stopped the wrestling match quickly, he could always wrestle with one of his other siblings.

Thunder rumbled in the sky above, and Jahazi looked up to see in the distance a large gray cloud. It was moving slowly and they had time before it started to rain, but Jahazi hated the sound of thunder. It rumbled again and he shivered in fright.
PostPosted: Fri May 30, 2008 8:16 am

"I am going to-" He stopped once more midsentence as the ominous rumble of thunder sounded. ... Kick your butt. So much for that. It seemed as though all of nature was conspiring against him. First Jahazi smothered him in a wrestle. And now the thunder. When was he ever going to win? He narrowed his eyes up at the rolling thunderheads. One day.

He glanced over at his brother, and noticed that Jahazi was beginning to shiver. Right, Jahazi didn't like the sound of thunder. Duzi made the mental note for the dozenth time. He was probably right whenever he felt he didn't pay enough attention to his family. He always forgot the little details, and the feeling never got any better. He was a selfish little thing that was undeserving of all their love.

But that was okay, he could change all that.

He mosied on over and settled himself beside his brother. "Storm's moving pretty slowly," He said, glancing up at the cloud again. Stupid things. "We should head on home, maybe. Thunder doesn't sound as loud in the den."

Jahazi looked over at Duzi, but his eyes went back to the skies quickly as he ehard the thunder once more. He believed his brother, since he knew Duzi was smarter than himself. Jahazi wasn't stupid, but he wasn't as smart and didn't have as much common sense as his sibling.

"It is?" He asked, hoping his brother was right that the storm was moving slowly. At the offer of going to the den, Jahazi shook his head a little. "No, that's okay. Let's stay here." He said with a smile. He didn't ant to seem cowardly to his brother, although inside he was longing for the protection of the den and his mother.

"Since it's going slow, we can still play a game!" He said with a grin, "Whatcha wanna play?"
PostPosted: Fri May 30, 2008 4:50 pm

Another game? Still? Jahazi really didn't give up. He had been hoping that the approaching storm would have been enough to let him off the hook. Games really weren't his strong suit.

Someday, he decided, he would have to learn to play as well as any of his siblings. And then, he would actually have a wonderful time when he was with them. He enjoyed it as he was right now, sure, but he always felt as if somehow, if he knew how to play and enjoy himself like the rest of them, he would feel much better.

"Uhm..." He tried to think of a game. There was that... No. That wasn't a game. He shook his head with a small shrug. "I don't know. What do you wanna play?"

Jahazi watched his brother as he tried to think of a game. He knew Duzi wasn't one for inventing games, but he wanted to give him a chance.

As the storm shook the land once more, Jahazi flinched and closed his eyes. He had seen lightning. He wondered if Duzi would mind going back to the den, perhaps they could play an inside game. He got an idea for one, and smiled at his brother, opening his eyes again.

"I have an idea! Let's pretend we're famous hunters, treasure hunters! We can find treasure in the den, maybe momma will hide one of her jewels and let us search for it!" He said, standing up, proud of himself. He invented a fun game, AND they'd get out of the storm! "Whatcha ya think, Duzi?"
PostPosted: Sat May 31, 2008 4:57 pm

Duzi chuckled and nodded. "Sure." At least this game didn't involve wrestling, or running around, or beating each other into the ground. And it meant they were out of the way of the storm, which although Duzi himself didn't mind all too much, he knew being inside would make his brother feel much better.

So it was a win-win idea for a game. How amazing. He stood up and glanced at the storm, slowly rolling in. It was a good thing there was little wind. Otherwise, the cubs might have been drenched long ago.

"Let's head in then?" He suggested. There was no point in going in for a game if they weren't going to beat the storm and stay dry.

Jahazi smiled and stood, jumping down and walking towards their den. He was excited for the game and to get out of the storm, and he looked up at Duzi with a smile.

"Come on Duzi, I'll race ya!" He called, grinning and taking off towards the den. Such is the bond of brothers, always able to forgive one another for anything, and always looking out for eachother's well being.
