Fallenryde looked up at the moonlit sky, the shimmer stars twinkled over the vast landscape before him. It had been a while since he sat down and enjoyed himself, not since he had set out on a personal quest. Shaking old memories and thoughts from his mind, he placed his rump on the ground and began grooming his paw, they were soar and pounding from walking for so long. His long ears placed themselves down against his neck and his crystal blue gem glistened from the dim light hung above. Fallen had been on his travels for days at a time, rarely resting for more then an hour or two before returning to his journey.

Snorting a sigh of tiredness, Fallenryde picked himself back up and began walking towards a solemn tree that held itself proud under the blanket of sky above. Pushing himself along the path with his feet almost dragging in the dry dirt he finally reached it's long grown branches busheled with green leaves that danced in the night breeze. Fallenryde landed with a soft but firm thump on the grassy ground, a joyous attempt of some rest and slumber before he continues off onto his travels again. His blue markings stood out from the rest of the scenery but made his image break up some against his black body, something he knew was special to himself.

Stella was always moving around, not stopping in one place too long, because she retained a fear of being attacked, like so long ago. Stella's children had all grown up now, so she had no reason to not move.

The dark breeze of the night blew against her short and precise fur, not shaking her in the moonlight. She was used to the cold of the night, it was how she had grown up, sort of fearing the daylight hours and moving in the night. Daylight was when she was the least protected, and therefore the most fearful.

On this night in particular, the moon hung very high in the sky, casting a shadow on Stella, showing only her golden rings. As she raced through the forest, she began to get tired and hungry, so she decided to slow down and find something to eat. That was when she smelled something, something almost, familiar? "What... But Who...? There was no one..." Stella was puzzled by the scent, and decided not to follow it.

Instead, she found herself a bunch of berries and sat down to eat. "If, by tomorrow night, I can still smell it, I'll go see." She told herself. She didn't want to get her hopes up anymore.

The wind danced upon the grass, streaking lines of different shades as it twisted the blades in different directions. One of the most peaceful nights he had ever encountered, so peaceful he didn't want to leave the area for a while. But he knew he wasn't going to get anywhere or find what he was looking for without getting up and going somewhere. But in due time he decided, the breeze was nice and the moon casted the best shadows for the night, so perfect for an Umbreon Ulaya. Sniffing the air Fallenryde sat up in his spot and scanned the area around him and the tree, looking for something. He wasn't sure what be he knew it was something he needed to find, something he ... remembered.

Shaking his head as he released a snort of air he stood up and started walking back down the path he had originally came on, back the way he came from. His tail bouncing with each step as he walked a pace slightly faster then he normally did, his feet still burning from the trip to the field the first time. He didn't mind, he had to know what it was, he had to find it. The smell. Approaching the forest's entrance once again, Fallenryde stopped in his place and sniffed the air once again. It was getting stronger, but he started to wonder if it was a smell he wanted to see or one he feared. The last time he smelled it was the night the raid happened on his village. Was it the god again? He shuttered as he took in a deep breath and released with a soft sigh. It can't be, it's one he knew far longer then the god's, one he just couldn't place. Stepping slowly he walked into the forest, down the path were which he had come from in search for something he wasn't quite sure what it was.

Stella remained transfixed in place, eating her succulent red berries. They matched the glow of her eyes against the dark night sky. Quietly she sat eating, her ears ever-perked sounding out for danger. Here and there she'd hear a crack of a branch or the rustle of leaves but the moment she stood, ready to run, she realized it was merely the wind or a small mouse.

Then, as she bent down once more to take a berry off the bush, she smelled it again. That scent that she vaguely recognized, it was so comforting to her, but why? She shook her head in mid-thought, clearing her head of who she hoped it would be. "I told myself already, tomorrow I'll search it out. I'm just imagining things." She repeated in her head once more.

Feeling that she had had enough to eat for one night, she strolled along the forest path once more, guiding herself through the night from the glow of her markings. The gold shined and reflected upon the leaves and water-droplets remaining from the previous night's light rainfall.

The forest's dark appearance was welcoming to Fallenryde, a strange thing that not only everyone can agree with. The leaves rustled with the wind above him as he continued his way down the path, slow as ever and still full of curiosity. Suddenly something danced in his view, something that was broken up in is sight. Turning his ears back he ducked into the trees and rested his body on the ground, his dark marking blending him into the forest floor. "What, or whom, is it?" He couldn't shake his mind from his original thought, couldn't erase a childhood friend from his memories. Lately they have been coming out to him even more clear then ever, for some reason he was longing to find her more urgently. Spending most of his life in search of someone he knew, it would be wonderful if he finally did find one. Someone with his own blood line.

Breathing slowly so not to rustle the bush around him, Fallenryde listened to the soft foot steps slowly move towards him. Waiting for them to pass by so he can continue on his journey, wondering who would be out here at this our of the night. Most Ulayas he knew would be asleep by now and wouldn't dream of moving through the night. Holding his ears back on his neck he tried to listen for possibly some talking, maybe something that would confirm to him that it was just another Ulaya rather then something looking for a midnight snack. Silence was all he could do right now, patience was what he needed.

Almost as if it was calling to her, Stella turned in place at the spot where Fallenryde had just been apparent moments before. Shaking her head as if she was going insane, Stella once more mumbled to herself. "What is going on...? It can't be. There must have been something wrong with those berries..." She shook her head once more, the image of a past friend floating away through her mind as if he had been made of air.

Slowly, she started up again, guided through the path from her golden rings vibrantly reflecting around her.

"It was probably just a mouse, like I said." She thought to herself instinctively, she would have felt it if there was an opposing force near her. Her senses were keen on danger, and there wasn't an inkling of any near her. The cool and gentle breeze flushed against her dark face wrinkling her pin-straight fur as she moved onward.

Keeping his eyes fixated on the bush in front of him, Fallenryde held his breathing as the figure paused in front of him. Looking over the bush his heart stopped as he made out the body of an Ulaya, on like himself. Quickly lowering back down to the ground he started to race through his mind, wondering if he was really dreaming or not. Then the Ulaya started walking again, leaving him and his life searches behind. "That scent ..." He whispered to himself as butterflies churned inside his stomache. He couldn't just let them leave, he had too many questions that needed to be answered. Quietly standing up he padded out to the path and watched as the black and gold Ulaya continued on it's way, as if he wasn't really there at all. 'Do it! Just do it!' His mind was racing, trying to talk him into speaking but his voice drew nothing but a blank. Finally, stepping forward with one foot he took in a deep breath and said only one thing, the one thing that was on his mind for a long time. "Stella?"

Stella instantly froze in place, the sound of her name being called out petrified her at once. Her heart started racing, her mind flashing images of owner of the voice that called to her. It was almost too good to be true, and she hardly thought she could believe it.

With her heart beating as though she had just ran many miles she turned on the spot to face the owner of the voice.

"I... Oh! It can't be... Is it really you?!" Deep chills ran down her spine as she spoke, the being before her was long gone, not from her memories, but from her. He couldn't be here now, simply standing in front of her, as if they were children again. The image of him was blurred and slightly hazy. Tears were starting to form in Stella's eyes, she had to be imagining everything. Soon she would wake up and realize how horrible dreams really could be.

Stepping forward again he perked his ears up and tilted his head, still unbelieving what was going on. He took a deep breath and swollowed his doubt before walking towards her for a better look. "You look." He paused before stopping a couple of feet in front her and smiling. "You look so beautiful." He couldn't stop smiling, so many years on his own in search for someone from his lost village, someone that might have given him a sign that he wasn't so alone and here she was. His childhood friend, the only one that worried about him just as much, if not more, then his parent's alone. Standing before him in the flesh, reality lost in a lucid dream. "How ... have you been?" What does one say in a situation like this? What does one do when they have encountered someone they had nothing but dreamed of daily?

Stella face was now severely damp with tears, splattering the ground as they reached the tips of her fur and fell in a stream. She couldn't look up at him, after so long, after everything that had happened. He was never far from her in her mind, but the idea that they'd meet again had long since ceased from her thoughts.

"I... you... But...?" Half-started sentences was all she could muster under the impact of the tears. She simply wanted to just lunge at him, to be with him again, but something was pulling her back. She stood, if her awkward hunched and weeping pose could be called standing, rooted to the spot.

Stella's rings were now flickering in the night-light, stopping each time she hiccuped down a tear or sputtered word.

Fallenryde stepped forward and leaned into her. Looking into her tear swollen eyes he raised a paw and brushed the wet from her cheek with smile. Tears weren't something he let out anymore, his eyes had gone dry many years ago when their village was attacked. The horrors were a faded memory compaired to Stella, she was the only one that he was fighting for all these years. This was the greatest thing in the world, seeing her again, and Fallenryde wasn't going to let it slip away again. "Come, let's get out of the forest. There is a field up ahead." He slowly began to lead her, his shoulder always touching hers. She needed comfort, that he could tell really well, and he was going to be there for her like he always told himself he would.

Stella gave a short nod and lifted herself up so she was able to walk, her paws leaving small imprints onto the forest floor. She stayed next to him, walking slowly and leaning on Fallenryde as she needed so.

As they approached the field, there was a clearing through the darkness of the trees. A cool breeze could be felt as it whipped it's way past them. The moon could be clearly seen now that the foliage of the forest wasn't blocking it.

"How... how, what happened to you?" Stella finally pushed herself to mutter out those soft words through the slowing of her tears.

Fallen didn't even have to question what she was talking about, the past was all that stuck up in his mind as well. he fell silent for a while, unsure if he wanted to speak of all he had wanted to forget. But it had to happen, he had to talk about it again someday and now was the best time to do it, with someone he knew and trusted. "I hid." He paused for a few moments and then looked at the ground in shame. "I hid like the coward I am." He always hated confrontation and when they were younger with all the other kids picking on his left and right for not being 'pure blooded' made his esteem worse. "I couldn't do anything else, I didn't know what to do. So I hid in the hills, with my little sister as I watched all that I knew and loved being destroyed and everyone I loved being kill- " He stopped silent, getting dragged away in his own regrets wasn't what he wanted to do. But never had he spoke of the day with anyone, not once. Maybe it was easier to do with Stella because she too experienced the pain. Maybe he just longed to find someone else that knew what he was talking about for so long that it was hard to keep his words straight. Be strong ... be strong for her. He told himself that every time he looked at his little sister, before she passed away. Now it repeated in his mind once again, as he looked upon Stella. Be strong ... 'I will' he thought. 'I will hold myself together and make ammends for the failure I lived before. I'll keep her close, warm and comforted. It's my job now.'

He leaned into her and rested his chin on her shoulders, pulling her in for a soft hug. "That is the past now, living as it hadn't happened is impossible but learning from it and getting stronger from the pain is all that we have left now." He released a tear but refused to snuffle and reveal to her how weak he really was. She needed someone to be strong and collected, someone to give her strength of her own. "I won't let you go again, as long as you keep me around I will never leave." Curling his tail around his body he lowered her head to the ground and rested on the long grass, waiting for her to tell him that he was doing right. That he was doing as she needed, waiting for the comfort of another wanting him around like the old days, even if they will never come again.

Stella tried to stay up, but the weight of wanting to break down and cry was putting up a great fight. "I don't... but it's been SO long!" She let out another trail of deals down her face that hit the ground at an angle as the wind blew past. "I hid too... but with my mother... or at least I tried to. She made me go on my own. None of my family made it either... brothers, mother, and father all gone..." Stella broke down crying again. It had been an offly long time since she had last thought of her "family" rather than her children now.

"I don't even remember what fully happened... It's all a big blur of fire and horror. Ending simply with me being left alone..."

She looked into Fallen's eyes at this moment. Her tears glazing over her eyes as they shined in the moonlight. She still couldn't believe he was here, this had to be an awful dream.

"If this is real... please don't leave." She had to say it, if this, if he really was real, she couldn't stand him not staying any longer.
