"Ten down...two across...what's the address?" Jiran was busily muttering to himself, pouring over a small black book with wide, worried eyes. He was sweating again. He wasn't sweating from heat, of course, as it was quite late out and actually a little chilly. No, the weather wasn't to blame.

It was Lilitu.

The demon had grown increasingly impatient with her hunger, and demanded that Jiran search out the youngest ("freshest," as she had called it) blood possible in the area. In the birth records, he found a family a few blocks away that had just recently had a child. If it weren't for his worrying, cursing, improper manners and muttering, Jiran might have felt lucky. Of course he didn't, though. He just cursed for being out after dark with a hungry, bloodsucking demon lady.

Hilaire left the diner exhausted as always. Though she was essentially dead on her feet, she would have rather stayed at the diner working all night than return to her empty apartment. It was so depressing. Her cat was there, but she was hardly company. Maybe she'd go to a club or something, try to be a little more sociable. Hil tried to think of what she could wear, but there wasn't many options. Maybe she'd save up for a new dress. Hilaire turned down the next alley and began to rummage through her purse. She had a feeling that she had forgotten something since she had left work, and she was right. "Oh great...my keys. Figures."

Just as she was about to look up she hit something solid. It was warm, and breathing? She jumped back and began to apologize profusely. "I'm so sorry! I should have been paying more atten- oh...it's you."

Lilitu puffed up a little in distaste of the woman's reaction to her summoner. Sure, he was slimey little suck-up of a human scum, but he had summoned her. Being summoned ment being given blood. Being given blood meant a happy Lilitu.

Jiran look unimpressed also. Simply for the fact that there was a human in front of him. A female one, too.

"Yes. Me," He frowned, "There seems to be a problem with apologizing to me?" he jeered down his nose at her, feeling rather safe with his demon floating behind him, at his command. He wondered if eating this woman would be enough sustenance for Lilitu?

[I'm going to assume she can see lilitu]

"Well, you haven't really left a great impression." Hilaire crossed her arms and tapped her fingers. She could be passing judgment too early, but she just didn't get a good feeling from him. Then she noticed something behind him. Probably just a shadow...she thought; but it moved again, and that burst her bubble of hope. "So you have one too eh..."

Hilaire shook her head and got back to what she was going to say. "So why are you here anyway? Do you live near here or something?"

[[Well I think zige or chai said somewhere that summoners and summoners to be can see demons. <3]]

Jiran squinted his dark, beady eyes questiongly at Hilaire before shaking his head. "Oh, near enough," He said vaguely, gesturing one of his thin hands in the air. "I don't feel entirely certain I must disclose my intentions, but...I have business. This way." He jabbed a finger past her, pointing down the street.

Liltiu scowled darkly behind him, growing quickly impatient. "Jiran," She growled in his ear, tapping him sharply on the shoulder. "I am hungry, and not in the mood for small talk!"

"I guess all demons are pushy." She rolled her eyes. Whatever he was up to, it wasn't good. Hilaire decided it would be best to just go back to the diner, and take a different route home. "Well, I can't say it was nice to see you again. I'll leave you and your demon be."

She turned around and began to walk towards the diner. Then Hil realized something. She had been brooding for so long about being alone, and here she was pushing someone away. Maybe he wasn't so bad? If he has a demon, there is a reason for it right? Could he be as lonely as she was? Hilaire slowed and turned back towards him. "Look, I'm sorry. I'm heading back to work because I forgot mt keys. Would you like to get a coffee with me?"

Jiran sucked back in a breath of releif he had been about to release, and gave Hilaire a strained look. He swallowed the sigh and gulped a little. "Oh, I..." Woman. Inviting him out for coffee. A real woman.

Lilitu screeched angrelly. "Jiran!" She cawed in his ear, "I'm hungry!!"

Jiran looked back and forth between the two females, utterly torn for a moment. "I...wait, you can see her?" He managed, suddenly registering what Hilaire had said.

"Duh, of course I can. Just like I could see Lamia at the shop." Hilaire stopped and thought for a moment. "Everyone can see her...right?"

Hilaire could sense how uncomfortable he was. Was she forever cursed to scare of any chance of a friend? Hilaire couldn't figure it out. She was nice, people rejected her. She wasn't nice, they still shunned her.

"Look. The diner is around the corner and three blocks up the street. I'll wait there for a half an hour. If you show up, then great. If you don't thats fine too. Either way it really makes no difference to me." She lied; it really did. At this point she'd take anyone for a friend. Even if they were a sleaze ball.

Jiran knew he shouldn't have been shocked like this. Since summoning Lilitu he hadn't met a single person who had been able to see (or smell) her. Walking around from place to place, searching for her next meal had drawn more attention to Jiran than the man would have liked, with talking to himself and whatnot. Lilitu wasn't a friendly incarnation, either, and tended to enjoy smacking people (mostly men) upon the backside as they passed. Jiran had many bruises from such expiriences.

"Come with us," Lilitu piped up, grinning nastily.

"I mean, surely, I don't see why not. We're only going a short way from here, then we can stop by your...what do you call it," She sneered a little at the Hilaire, "Diner?"

Hilaire raised a brow at the demon's invite. Something was telling her to run for the hills, but she quieted the feeling. It could be an interesting experience, and it would keep her out of the apartment for a little while longer. She pulled her sweater tighter around her. "Ok, fine. I'll come."

She looked to Jiran. "Don't you try anything ok? I have pepper spray."

Jiran scoffed rudely and began walking. "Please. Even if I wanted to 'try anything'," He made it clear he thought she was being rediculous by usig air quotations as he copied her, "Then I highly doubt pepper spray will have any effect on my charge. You are welcome to try however. I think she rather enjoys pain."

Lilitu, hovering a few inches behind her summoner, shot Hilaire a warning glance, which Jiran did not see. The glance clearly said Try it, and I drink every drop of your blood.

Hilaire shot him a glare. He was always so rude, well at least from what she'd seen of him. But she still stood by her decision to get to know him. She didn't like changing her mind after something had been decided. Then she noticed the glare from his demon.

Hilaire froze, chills running rampant over her body. She knew the demon was serious, as she'd have no reason to joke. Her heart began to race; her palms became sweaty. Then Hilaire noticed that they had passed her and were slightly ahead. She shook it off and ran so that she was beside Jiran. "She won't do anything to me right? As long as I don't do something to you or her."

Jiran gave a snobbish snort and turned his nose up. "She does what I tell her to do, until the pact is complete." This woman was clearly both ignorant and jumpy, Jiran decided. She was quick to turn her mood and quick to become unnecessarily afraid, he noted to himself, a typical mortal female. He disliked friendly, social dealings with mortal females.

Lilitu hissed through her teeth, warily reminding herself that fresh blood was nearing, and without this idiotically self-absorbed human she would not have such a fantastic chance.
