Ayanna Information and History

Name: Ayanna
Age: 10
Sex: Female
Species: Human
Home Planet: Aaris III
Family: One older brother named Kahiga, parents presumed still living.
Spoken Languages: Galactic Standard Basic, some Sauvax, very little Shyriiwook.
Understood Languages: Galactic Standard Basic, some Sauvax, passable Shyriiwook.
Likes: Flowers, animals (particularly aquatic), the ocean, jungles, people, stories, weather, meeting new species, learning languages, talking....etc.
Dislikes: Mean people, eating fish, deserts, cold places.

Ayanna is a talkative chipper little girl from Aaris III. She was raised primarily by her older brother Kahiga although her parents are still living, or were the last time she checked. She doesn't like to speak of them as they were sweetblossom smugglers and, more recently, abusers. Although they became smugglers to try and make more money to provide a better life for her and her brother, neither child particularly approved and once they started using it themselves and stopped practically all useful work Kahiga decided he had had enough and left with Ayanna. The two went and lived in a home they built themselves on the beach where Kahiga became a fisherman and Ayanna helped with gardening and growing vegetables, being too small for serious fishing. The two were aided often by a lone Sauvax named Kilek.

When it became apparent that Ayanna was skilled in the Force her brother insisted that she find a way into the Sith temple. Kahiga is responsible for shaping most of Ayannas world views, and he felt the Jedi's preference for negotiations and talk was ineffective. If you really wanted to get things done and change things, you had to be a Sith. With his encouragement and Kilek's stories of the rest of the galaxy ringing in her ears, Ayanna left behind her dreams of being a veterinarian and, after finding a sponsor, took to the stars to train to be a Sith.

Nel Zelpher's Information and History

Name: Nel Zelpher
Age: 21
Sex: Female
Species: Human
Home Planet: Naboo
Occupation: Tusk Cat Trainer
Spoken Languages: Galactic Standard Basic
Understood Languages: Galactic Standard Basic, Gungan Basic
Likes: Animals (tusk cats in particular), red meat, reading, nice green scenery, hunting.
Dislikes: Ignorant buyers, cold places, animal cruelty.

Nel Zelpher is a relaxed, friendly young woman hailing from Naboo. A trainer of tusk cats, she enjoys a close bond with the large creatures, and is fussy about who she sells them to once they're trained to her satisfaction. When not haggling prices for her prized tusk cats in Theed and other cities in nearby regions, she has a small compound in the wilds near Theed in which she breeds and trains the cats. Her fascinations with the animals began at a young age, as her parents owned one for use in patrolling their shaak herds. As she a younger sister out of several and didn't care much for shaak anyways--save for eating--Nel decided to focus more on the tusk cats. She's proven successful enough in her ventures that she's taken it upon herself to sponsor a youngling in the Jedi/Sith Academy...after all, a safer galaxy means better trade, and better prices for her cats.

Allies and Enemies

User ImageEdan: The first person her own age Ayanna has had a conversation with, she would consider him a friend already and likes him just fine, even if he is a boy. He seems very down to earth, kind and polite.

User ImageRie'Kus: Cutest little boy ever. Especially with his mouse Fran. He wants to be strong and one day own the temples. Ayanna likes Rie'Kus, the little one is definetly a friend and someone she would look out for.

User Image Charsiir: I feel kind of bad for him because right now he can't speak Basic, although he can understand it, and the others don't speak Shyriiwook, he writes out what he has to say. I guess it could be worse, he could be unable to understand Basic, I just think it must be awfully lonely not to be able to communicate and to be so far from home all at once. Luckily I understand him alright! He's really nice, he seems very enthusiastic and I dunno, happy I guess. No, joyful. Joyful seems a better word for it.

User ImageAiden: I don't like her. Well, mostly I don't think she likes me. And I don't think she respects the Sith. I think maybe she thinks she better'n me. I dunno, maybe I'm wrong. I've never had anyone not like me before. Maybe if I try harder to be friends...

A Letter From Nel Zelpher to Ayanna:

Dear Ayanna,

My name is Nel Zelpher, and by now you have heard the news of your sponsor's disappearance. Well, the temples have selected me as your new sponsor, so you need not fear on that account. I'm not that interesting of a person, just a tusk cat trainer that happens to do things the way she's supposed to and gets paid well for it. Oiy...I sound so formal--and arrogant! Comes from dealing with customers, I guess. I've been told you come from Aaris III and that you're a Sith initiate, but not much else, so I admit I'd like to know more about you. I don't want to ask too many questions, though, so I'll just let you tell me what you want to.

Ayanna read the letter curiously, a dozen questions whirling through her mind. What was a tusk cat? Where was her new sponsor from? Did Kahiga know that her former sponsor had disappeared? Opening up a new message, she got started writing a letter of her own.

-------

A Letter From Ayanna to Nel Zelpher:

Dear Nel Zelpher,

First of all, hi! And thank you very much for becoming my sponsor, as I really like being here. It's not always easy, but I don't think that would be any different for anybody else. Yes, I'd like to become a Sith, but that doesn't mean I'm going to go off and terrorize the galaxy like the old Sith used to. It's just...I don't want to talk and talk and talk while people are suffering, I want to get things done! If that means fighting, then it means fighting. But anyways...what's a tusk cat? Are they native to your planet? And why do you train them? I wanted to be a vet before I came to the temple so I'm pretty curious.

Training Session 1:

Emotions as channels, Master Char had recommended. By this point, Ayanna was starting to think she might accomplish coming in contact with the Force through the emotion of dread alone. Why? Well, the only idea she could think of that might raise particularly strong emotions would be thinking about her parents...and she strongly disliked talking about her smuggler parents, or even thinking of them. Well, if she was to become a Sith, she'd just have to get over that and learn how to tap into that dislike and all of the other emotions she felt, could feel. So with a deep breath, Ayanna began to drag up memories of her parents, and struggled not to shove them back as the emotions began to surface...resentment, anger, hurt. They'd smuggled sweetblossom, abused her and her brother... I'm glad Kahiga took me from you, she thought fiercely. Starting to get up to pace angrily until her temper cooled, she suddenly noticed...something...energy, maybe. In any case, she could feel it there, inside herself and the ayanna plant sitting in its pot. Is this...is that...the Force? she thought, anger giving way to wonderment and awe. At the loss of focus, the awareness slipped away, leaving Ayanna with a slight sense of loss. Oh, come on! Frustration rose quickly in her, and she seized on the emotion tightly, focusing on it as she'd focused on her anger before. Paying attention this time, she could sense when...the Force?...flickered back into her awareness again, and this time she let go of her frustration voluntarily, satisfied that she could repeat the performance. For one last experiment before she stopped attempting to reach the Force today, she started thinking about a truly happy moment--when her present had opened to reveal special soil for her ayanna plant. To delight and slight surprise, she found that this positive emotion brought the same awareness of the energy around her as the previous two attempts. Letting it slip away, she rubbed her head, grinning. "I think that I'll call that good...yes, very good!"

A Letter From Nel Zelpher to Ayanna:

Dear Ayanna,

I must admit, your silence in the past months has been worrying. Is something wrong? Do your studies not progress as they should? If something is the matter, do not fear to contact me. I am sponsoring you to learn how to use the Force, yes...but everyone encounters setbacks. How you overcome those setbacks is what will decide your ultimate success. I hope to hear from you soon.
