Amy Lee, Singer

* Born: 13 December 1981
* Birthplace: Riverside, California
* Best Known As: Vocalist for the rock band Evanescence
Amy Lee is a vocalist and songwriter with the rock band Evanescence, whose debut album, Fallen (2003), was nominated for five Grammys in 2003. The band won two Grammys that year, for Best New Artist and for Best Hard Rock Performance, the latter for the hit song "Bring Me To Life," featured in the movie Daredevil (2003, starring Ben Affleck). Lee and band co-founder Ben Moody (guitarist) met at summer camp in Arkansas when they were teenagers. Although they rarely performed live, their early recordings gained a local following and in 2001 they were signed to a recording contract. John Le Compt (guitar), Rocky Gray (drums) and Will Boyd (bass) joined the band, and the success of Fallen made them overnight rock stars. Within a year, however, Moody left the band and was replaced by guitarist Terry Balsalmo. The goth-rock sound of Evanescence has been called a mix of Tori Amos-like vocals with Linkin Park-style rock.
Amy Lee the rock singer is not to the same as Amy Lee the saxophone player.
Ben Moody

Ben Moody II, born in Little Rock, Arkansas on January 22, 1981. From 1996 to October of 2003, played lead guitar for the rock band Evanescence. Is present on the albums Evanescence EP, Sound Asleep EP, Origin, and the band's major label debut, Fallen. Ben plays a Jackson DKMG Dinky and a Jackson SLSMG Soloist. He worked on the track Nobody's Home on Avril Lavigne's sophomore record, Under My Skin, and wrote and recorded the track The End Has Come for The Punisher movie soundtrack. He also collaborated with David Hodges and Kelly Clarkson on Clarkson's most recent album, Breakaway.
Ben is currently working on a feature film, titled Zombies Ate My Mom, with his startup movie company Makeshift Films. He also has a cameo, and worked on the soundtrack to, the new film Resident Evil: Apocalypse. In addition, he has recently finished recording his solo debut, though its title is as yet unknown.
John LeCompt

John LeCompt (born March 10 in 1973) lead guitarist for the goth rock band Evanescence has been part of the Little Rock heavy metal scene since the late 90's.
Roots
His first commercial effort was in a band he put together called Mindrage. He pulled double duty as lead vocalist and lead guitarist. He enlisted Nick Williams to play bass and Chad Wilburn to play drums. Together in June of 1998 they recorded the album Sown In Weakness, Raised In Power. For their second album, (a collaboration with the band Nailed Promise) Justin Carder (now with Hap Hazard) took over on drums.
Some time later John joined forces with the guitarist for Living Sacrifice, Rocky Gray, and together created a band called Kill System. They got Chad Moore from Soul Embraced to play bass, and Lance Garvin the former drummer from Living Sacrifice as the drummer. The Kill System project has still had no official distribution deal, but the time may come when John & Rocky still move forward with it. Kill System is much more melodic than John's other heavy metal efforts which makes this a big fan favorite.
John joined Rocky one more time with the band he played lead guitar for called Soul Embraced. John is the featured vocalist on the song "Seems Like Forever" on the 2003 album Immune.
Evanescence
After Wind-Up Records signed Evanescence, they turned to some old friends from Little Rock to fill out the spots in the band for when they began to tour. John joined as the second guitarist and Rocky joined as the drummer. On Evanescence major label debut Fallen, John even had part in writing the song "Taking Over Me". The duet "Bring Me To Life" on Fallen was made with Paul McCoy from 12 Stones, but since recording John has performed the vocal parts on "Bring Me To Life," giving the song an edge you can trace right back to his roots in the Little Rock metal scene.
Rocky Gray

Rocky Gray is the drummer of Evanescence. He also plays the guitar. He used to be in the band Living Sacrifice. "Tourniquet", a song he wrote the lyrics to for the band, was later remade and 'covered' by Evanescence when he joined them.
