Who? Scyeth and RuiZhi
Where? A very large classroom
Why? Because Des is a dumdum and messed up the first one. And dude. Who doesn't love ScyZhi time?

Class Description

A basic course that is a must for the S&T student. Study here will focus only on the 1970s and forward, from the development of the first computer and the most recent research in scientific fields at the time. Studies of the mechanics, as well as three science courses of the student’s choosing, are covered.

Scyeth did not like class. Any class. And after his last classroom experience which involved insane math problems and an insane, stuck up brat, he was not looking forward to this class any more than he was looking forward to his next physical. Huh. The blond idly wondered if they had to get physicals while they were here. Or what would happen if he got sick. It was a good thing that RuiZhi was going to be a doctor, hmm?

Speaking of, the blond had to wonder if his ex-roomie would be showing up. He was going to be a science student...or was a science student already, and this was a rather science-y, if he did say so himself. Scyeth looked around at the strange decorations and huffed. He so did not want to study harder.

"So. Technology," he muttered to himself.

"It's why you're here, I'd think," RuiZhi quipped cheerfully from the doorway, notebooks in his arms. He moved to take a seat next to Scyeth, putting down his items and making sure he didn't sit on the tails of his uniform. The youth idly tapped one of the models on the desk, rolling it around thoughtlessly. "It's good to see you in class," he complimented his blonde counterpart.

After a moment, he stopped toying with the model and flipped open his notebook, brushing by a few pages full of notes in Chinese and English alike before settling on a blank sheet. Glancing over at his ex-roomie, he smiled, reaching over to squeeze his arm encouragingly.

Scyeth snorted, about to make a sarcastic remark to the familiar voice when he realized why the voice was so very familiar. Oh. RuiZhi. Instead, the blond cracked a grin, rocking back in his chair and giving a great stretch. Well, now that he had the proper distraction, class would be a breeze. Or. Wait. Scyeth frowned to himself. He wasn't supposed to be distracted anymore.

...but how could he not be distracted by the bucket of cute sitting next to him?

Scyeth leaned over, watching RuiZhi brush though some notes. No. Not interesting. "Yeah, doesn't mean I'll like it though," he replied with a snort. He'd never like class. Class was not his sort of thing; he'd rather be out in the field actually doing something. "You'll let me copy your notes, right?"

"I'll even write them in English for you," the young man assured the other, giving Scyeth a wide grin. RuiZhi glanced back to his desk and the models there, as well as the information on the walls. "This...I'm not even sure this concerns you," he said quietly, his grin fading into a thoughtful smile. "I don't know what your people are like, if they're more advanced than we are...this could all be more boring for you than you realize." Truthful? Yes. Helpful? Not at all.

RuiZhi shrugged and smiled anyway, scooting his chair over so that he was at an angle to his desk, but closer to his boyfriend. The youth nearly giggled; would he ever get used to that? He hoped not. He liked the surge of happiness that made him feel light everytime he thought of it. "Anyway," he chortled, more to himself than Scyeth, "the class isn't going to do itself. Are you already familiar with all this stuff?"

The Chinese boy waved a hand at all the models and timelines, encompassing it all with a curious glance to the blonde.

Scyeth preened happily, impressed RuiZhi was actually going to share notes. He had expected the Chinese boy to tell him that copying was wrong and that he'd never learn anything from copying, he should really be doing it himself. Well. As long as he studied, it didn't matter where he got the answers for his homework from, right? Yeah. The blond nodded. "You'll have to come to my room after class," he mused thoughtfully. And then an idea struck him. "Hey, do you think they'd bother trying to read what I wrote if I wrote assignments and s**t in a foreign script?" he mused, tossing his head back.

The elegant head toss was followed by a series of flailing limbs and a loud clatter. Scyeth had forgotten he was balancing him and...well...the whole castle came crumbling down, so to speak. The blond grunted, blue eyes wide as he stared at the ceiling for a minute. He was starting to wonder if maybe he was accident prone. So he dragged himself up and dusted his pants off, pretending maybe that never happened. And he looked to where RuiZhi was motioned, readjusting his hat. "Uh, yeah," he said with a thoughtful frown. "All that stuff looks...familiar. Enough."

"Okay," he replied to the invitation. It was really just that simple. RuiZhi chuckled, shaking his head. "I think they'd make you do it over ag--!!"

The youth was out of his chair almost as fast as Scyeth hit the ground, standing rigid and stock still as he stared at the blonde in momentary shock. As the other stood and brushed himself off like it was just another typical day in the life of Scyeth, RuiZhi couldn't help himself, and started to laugh. He wasn't laughing at the Aussie, oh no, he was laughing at himself for getting so worried about him. The youth had a feeling Scyeth would make him grey and heart attack prone by the time he was twenty, at the rate they were going.

Shaking off the rest of his laughing with a quavering sigh, he slid an arm around Scyeth's middle, smiling up at him. "We need to build a Scyeth-proof room. Although I think it might be a bit dull." He gave the blonde an affectionate squeeze, looking back around at the classroom and the task at hand. "Really, looking into the past isn't all that interesting to me. I know where we've been. I want to know where we're going, and how we are going to play into that."

RuiZhi looked back up to Scyeth, smile still intact. He had a feeling the other was about as interested in human's advancement in technology about as much as he was interested in watching a snail cross the road. Heck, their development had probably been at least that slow in comparison to the other races.

Of course, who needed to avoid being accident prone when being accident prone got him snuggles in the middle of class? He just coughed and shrugged it off a little, grinning sheepishly. "I'm built tough, you know?" he reasoned. There was no real explanation. A lifetime of accidents made one less prone to injury...well, at least with the little ones. "Besides, I like surprises." As long as said surprises didn't involve cliffs or any other type of falling.

Scyeth shook his head, much more interested in admiring RuiZhi than actually concentrating. "Oh. Uh. Yeah. The past is boring," he parroted, typing his head to one side. "Is that all we do in this class? Just the past? Or do we get to look into the future, too?" He raised his eyebrows. Although far from admitting it, he might actually be interested to see where the humans were going with these grand plans of theirs. "D'you think we're allowed to see big plans, and s**t? Since we're at this school?" he wondered aloud. They were chose for a reason, right?

The Chinese youth laughed again, tugging on Scyeth's shirt playfully. "After we get passed a certain point, I'd bet so," he agreed thoughtfully. "I mean, students..." there was a brief hesitation at the memory that came to him, "...still get expelled at such low levels, so as we prove ourselves, I'm sure it comes with responsibility." RuiZhi squeezed Scyeth again before attempting to extract himself to return to his seat. If the blonde wasn't willing, well, he certainly wouldn't complain. He could just as easily read and discuss the class from his current position as he could anywhere else.

"The past is important so we don't repeat mistakes," he said logically, "but I still think if we focus on it too much, we'll miss the present and destroy the future. That's why I want to move forward...that's why I study so hard." RuiZhi turned his earthen brown eyes onto Scyeth's face again. "You understand, don't you? We're fallible, which is why we are slow and dangerous to go forward...but we're not all that way. We've made a great many good things."

Or so he liked to tell himself. The nuclear bombs...missiles...machines of war...necessary evils, at some point, but unwelcome all the same. "I want our future to be...to help us. Not to destroy us. That's why it's up to us, you know." RuiZhi wanted to build a better world, to use his knowledge to end the need for war. It was a pipe dream, but it was his dream, and no one was going to change that.

Scyeth tipped his head to the side, watching RuiZhi as tried to make some sort of explanation. He blinked blue eyes and quirked a smile, tipping his head the other way before giving a good laugh. "Of course I understand!" he remarked, letting RuiZhi return to his seat as he pretended to be indignant. Scyeth grabbed his tablet and settled on the floor, going through a few quick motions to set the designated program up before rearranged himself on the floor...to do push-ups?

Oh Scyeth, you multi-tasker, you.

If it wasn't going to be interesting on its own, the Aussie would force the class to be tolerable. (Though he had to admit, having RuiZhi in his class was certainly helping the matter.) "You know, that's why I was sent here. Because some of us think not all of humans are bumbling idiots," he mused. In fact, he wasn't sure why most races had such low opinions. Oh, sure, humans did dumb things a lot. But that was their leaders, right? If other people were in charge, things might not go so poorly. And that was his job. To make sure idiots didn't keep screwing things up.

"Because we have to help now, too," he added thoughtfully, in mid-push-up. "It's our world, too."

And so was Scy's deep thought of the day.

RuiZhi refrained from giggling at the multi-tasking wonder that was Scyeth, opting to sit near by and review the information for the class while discussing it in a way that hopefully wasn't a total bore for the push-up master. At the young man's words, the Chinese youth actually sighed with pleasure, leaning over to snake a kiss to the Aussie's cheek while he held himself in mid-push-up. "You're wonderful," he informed the other, as if this was new news.

"We have to work together to build a world for all of us," he agreed at that, flipping through the information his tablet provided before pausing to scrawl a few notes. "We have a lot of work to do, and not just on the technologic front. Humans have believed themselves to be invincible for so long...I guess karma bit us in the behind." RuiZhi pondered over the alien attack, the races awakening and their seeming inherent dislike of humans...except the elves, but he'd only met two of them, and they could be the exception to the rule.

He dotted his paper, adding cheerfully, "It's a good thing they have us, huh, Scyeth? We'll teach them all, wont we." The youth smiled over to the blonde, unreasonably proud. Or maybe he did have a reason to be; look how far they'd come, after all.

Yeah, yeah, this was definitely going to work out for Scyeth. Though focusing on the boring information, RuiZhi and doing push-ups might be a lot, even for a master like himself. He looked over, preening a little when his short speech earned him a peck on the cheek. "You flatter me," he insisted. "Don't stop it, though," he added. Scyeth did love an ego stroke.

He continued his push-ups, switching to one hand whenever he needed to change the 'page' on the tablet or scrawl a few notes. Actually, more than a few notes. The Aussie absolutely would not be dragged back home for doing poorly again. "Yeah, not just technology," he agreed with a nod. He stopped and arranged himself cross-legged for a moment, pulling his hat off and tying his hair up in a messy bun. Much better.

Returning to his mini-workout, Scyeth continued his thought. "Humans have a lot of proving to do, or something. Because everyone else is stubborn, and someone's gonna have to be mighty fierce to get everyone on the same page again." His father was a diplomat. He knew how hard it was to get opposing sides to settled down.

He looked over and chuckled, blue eyes dancing. "Yes, yes we will. General Scyeth Akazar and Doctor RuiZhi Tai." It was good, to have dreams. It was how the kept going. Kept improving. And maybe how they'd save the world.

The youth nodded knowingly, cracking another smile at the blonde. Stop flattering Scyeth? As if such a thing was possible. RuiZhi chuckled, continuing on his notes, taking extra care to mark that which affected medical advances for further research. Every bit of information the young man could glean was extremely important.

"It's a shame that the actions of few result in the hatred of many," he murmured quietly, pen gliding over the paper as his eyes darted between the tablet, his notes and his boyfriend. "I guess each race has their own egos, their own reasons. But we have so much to learn from each other." He almost sounded frustrated at that last part, thinking on his meetings with Irame and discussing magic. Humans would undoubtably try to create it into something destructive, but if the few at ths school could use it for betterment...for advancement, should it be done?

RuiZhi jerked his head out of his thoughts, blinking in surprise at Scyeth. "General?" he repeated, awed. He had never asked the Aussie what he was studying for...he always assumed the young man would dabble in everything, he supposed, but a General? "You're going to employ me full time just to take care of you," he teased lightly, smiling with amusement. "But now, at least...I understand why you're so bored with all this. Guess that means you'll be working a lot with my sister and Professor Larine."

Scyeth tipped his head to the side. Well, it could go both ways, couldn't it? He never really thought about it, only ever working with higher-ups in his own society or teenaged humans. Said teenagers were only concerned with various forms of boarding and not politics, something Scyeth was perfectly okay with. But humans weren't the only hated ones. Quite a few didn't get along with demons, either.

He was pulled out of his thoughts, preening as RuiZhi approved of his goal. "Sounds good, doesn't it? 'General Scyeth Akazar," he repeated, tasting the words again. "And you can be my personal doctor," he agreed. Now that was a very pleasant thought indeed! (Hell, if they were at the school to be trained the way they were, someone might even call it a fantasy!)

He blinked. "You know, I don't think your sister likes me very much," he said. Not...that he was terribly nice to her. He did prod out her secret. But, in turn, she did give him what he needed to finally confront RuiZhi about...everything. Yeah. "I'd like to meet her again, though," he added with a nod. "Maybe spar with her, too," he added, successfully distracted from his notes.

RuiZhi grinned a bit. "General Scyeth Akazar...General Akazar, yeah, it flows nicely." The youth paused to stretch his fingers, chuckling at the blonde, "Just try not to abuse my skills too much. I prefer to see you whole and well." That was the truth. Well, RuiZhi didn't ever want to see anyone hurt, but Scyeth was a bit more near and dear to his heart that most. He took a personal interest in the other's well being.

At the mention of his sister, he glanced over again, a wry smile forming. "She may not be magical, but she's like a cornered tiger when she's fighting." He recalled seeing her and Kenth hurt in China, how even then, she refused to stay unconscious. "Stubborn, too. You two will probably get along or hate each other...you're a lot alike."

And he left it at that. "Professor Larine will be teaching you most of the fighting stuff. He's a nice man, but he's really strong." His brown eyes were far away, remembering how the man twisted the demon's arm like a rag, breaking it. "I like him. I think he'll help the school a lot, preparing for battles...just with his bare hands." RuiZhi smiled thoughtfully. "Technology isn't everything."

It took Scyeth a few minutes, but he finally realized he wasn't studying anymore. He twisted and freed a hand to flip through a few pages, highlighting something, circling something. Oh lovely, a huge block of text. Scyeth grunted to himself, focusing on the words for only a few moments, looking back up at RuiZhi. He sure knew a lot of people at this school. "...I wish I was around during the China expedition," he mumbled to himself. So much went on then.

....was that why they brought a demon in the first place?

Scyeth shrugged off the slightly disturbing thought and looked back at RuiZhi. "I'm stronger than I look," he felt compelled to say. Why didn't anyone understand he was just naturally stronger than a human his age? Anyways. "It would be interesting, I guess." Scyeth suddenly wondered if any of the other teachers harbored anything against demons after their...episode.

"Hey, I think we might be near the end of this. Do we have homework?"
