Hmm...what's going on?
Caprice's day had been going on rather normally until she swam face first into a rock with a smack! Caprice floated stunned for a moment before she regained herself. Even then she didn't fully understand what had just happened. There appeared to be nothing other than murky sea water ahead of her. But when Caprice squinted her eyes and poked her nose forward, sure enough she jammed it into the same rock. Now that she took a look around, Caprice couldn't see any of the coral that she knew crowded this area. Not to mention most of her fish friends were no where to be found.
Determined to find the cause of this strange occurance, Caprice propelled herself to the surface with one swift flick of the tail. Once she broke the surface, Caprice was immediately pelted with raindrops. "Ouchy! Ouch!" She squeaked in suprise. Then she looked towards the sky, which was definitely since the rain just poured into her eyes. Now, Caprice is use to having water in her eyes since she practically lives under it. But this is ridiculous!
With absolutely zero visibility in the water, Caprice decided it would be best to take cover under the trees that stood a little ways off from the shore. A little sparked of hope shined over the horizon in the form of clear skies, but they felt as distant as the stars in the night sky.
"Oh goodness! This is such a downer!" Caprice said, sighing heavily.

A dark head emerged from a different section of forest that appeared along the shoreline of the beach. With a snort, the stallion shook his wet drenched head and mane as droplets of water fell everywhere. Knight was used to harsh weather conditions and this rain didn’t bother him that much. But, he admitted to himself that it felt nice to be drier then usual. His ears twitched slightly as the presence of another distracted him. Slowly raising his head so that his red eyes, slightly covered by a drenched mane, could see a bit better Knight observed a strange creature.
To his knowledge it looked like a soquili but it seemed to be associated with the water due to their fins and tail that resembled a fish. He had little to say out loud to himself for he preferred to shout in his own mind but he had to admit that he was… fascinated by the prospect of speaking with such a rare species. Then again, having transparent wings wasn’t exactly a common thing either, Knight mumbled in his head.
Carefully making his way around the tree line, the war horse approached the other with care as he was uncertain of the nature of the other. For all he knew, the other could be as fierce as the demons he fought back home. Even though a dark presence was not felt from the water soquili, Knight was cautious. How many of his fellow soldiers had been deceived by the cunning of the demons. Not everything was as they appeared, he had seen that happen time and time again. Stopping within the visual distance of the other, Knight waited to see what the water soquili would do next. He preferred to have others come to him then him come to others. That was simply the way he was trained to be.

As Caprice creeped around the trees, she strained to hear against the pounding of the rain. All around her the heavy rain drops bounced off the leaves overhead and sent an echo that got trapped amoungst the trees. This was somewhat alarming since the cold rain was creating a fog as it hit the warm ground, which topped her lack of hearing off with a difficulty seeing. But Caprice brushed her worries away and started to skip cheerfully around the trees. Since she couldn't go back in the ocean for a while she might as well go exploring.
But she didn't get far before suddenly stopping. Caprice couldn't put her tail in it, but something didn't quite feel right. Looking around, she searched for anything that seemed out of place. But the fog was creating an eerie environment and Caprice kept seeing shadows around every tree. But after standing silently for a minute or two, Caprice was already bored and ready to move on. Any other normal horse would have been a little cautious, but Caprice really wasn't a normal horse!
Instead of fretting about her suspicion, Caprice resumed her slight skip and began to even hum a little song. "Rain rain go away, come again another day~"

Gleaming armor sparkled unintentionally as the war horse snorted to the incoming fog. He strongly disliked the elements coming in at a very bad time, but he supposed that since the other did not see him yet it was all for the best. He wasn’t one for long conversations… but whenever one was able to drag him into a talk he would be stuck in that talk for hours, whether he liked it or not. Probably was the baggage that came with being the elected leader of the resistance troops, but that was then.
Knight watched the water soquili’s form faze in and out of the fog as the white blended in with her various hues of blue. He… honestly wasn’t sure what to make of the water soquili now; even more so after watching them prance in and out of the fog singing. From what his senses deduced that the other was a mare and a very carefree one at that. Surely, she should have sensed something was in the fog? Her senses, water mare or not, should not have been that dull to have him be all that unnoticed? The stallion figured his white leggings, mane and tail and his teal scarf would be well camouflaged into the scenery however the rest of him should have stood out well enough, right? If anything, he would appear kind of like a broken… ghost?
Well, that’s great, he muttered in his brain. And, at the rate the mare was going, she was on a collision course with the war horse if she didn’t stop skipping in the direct she was going in… or if he chose to stay where he was. Whichever it was, they were going to have a bump in encounter if nothing was done. Knight didn’t really care what was going to happen though. As long as the mare didn’t get too carried away and they both came out safely, that was all that was important. Meetings were supposed to be meaningful. Words from someone he harbored deep feelings for echoed from the distance of his memories.

Caprice continued to skip along innocently, temporarily oblivous to the approaching collision. Suddenly, a white flicker abruptly put an end to her carefree skipping. As she quietly scanned the blurry darkness ahead, another flash of white danced in the dense fog. Normally something such as this would never cause Caprice any worry; she would simply dismiss it as a light colored leaf or perhaps an animal. In the light she might even have inspected the foreign object. But the eerie fog intensified the situation and battled against her bravery. The darkness gave the flicker an unearthy feel, as if perhaps it floated between the world of the living and the dead.
Taking in a deep breath, Caprice bit her lip and took a strong step forward. All her courage was burning inside her and Caprice felt as though she feared nothing. However, Caprice was quickly snapped back to her normal self; ahead of her two feather streaks challenged her with their fleeting mystery. They appeared and faded illusively in the misty fog. Before Caprice could contain herself, she let out a small squeak. At this point, Caprice knew this was no leaf, and it certainly wasn't any animal known to live around her ocean. But what creature could it possibly be? And more importantly, what was it doing on her modest beach? She dearly hoped her first impression was wrong!
As the white streaks continued to dance in the darkness, it became apparent that they belonged to nothing dangerous. If there was a kalona lurking somewhere in the darkness, wouldn't her squeak have alerted it? Surely it would have already finished her off if it so wished. With that terrible thought past her, Caprice found it hard to worry. Her light personality began to return after it was temporarily hidden behind blind fear. A smile brightened up her face at the thought of her little cowardly squeak. It was almost as if a storm had moved in blocked out the sun, but the strong, sunny rays eventually broke through the clouds and shone with all their might.
To put her fears behind her forever, Caprice called out playfully, "Who goes there? You nearly scared me to death!"

Firm legs stood their ground as red eyes followed the fleeting form of the water mare. For a while, Knight had contemplated moving to the side before they’d bump into each other since it looked like the mare completely did not notice him at all. Despite encounters being meaningful, he was sure that that person did not men by getting one’s self injured in the process… though, he had heard stories about incidents like that too.
But the pondering thought ebbed away as the water mare seemed to have finally stopped in her skipping of sorts. Looks like she finally noticed something was up, the war horse noted as he watched what little he could see of the mare’s constantly vanishing form. Her approach did help in one thing. Since she was closer, he could see her solid form a bit better, even in the dense fog.
Knight raised one of his brows at the sudden squeak. He wasn’t startled in any way but the water mare did make his nerves jump and gear into action. The stallion decided that enough was enough. He didn’t need to taunt the mare any longer and the fog was getting on her nerves as well.
Slowly moving towards the mare, Knight tried to make sure that his sudden broken body appearance didn’t startle her too much… but with the fog as it was, it was certainly a difficult task. A light snort escaped him as the stallion when he was a few good feet away from the mare. He raised his transparent wings and gave them a firm flapping until some of the fog in the area parted just long enough to show his self. “Sorry to startle you my lady,” Knight responded in a firm but not unkind manner. "I didn't mean cause you a scare."

Caprice saw a figure approaching through the fog, but nothing could prepare her for what would happen next. She was expecting to see a vague, dark figure come into a semi-focus state, but instead she was met with a fully visible stallion mere inches from her nose. Around them the fog floated away in large spirals until not only were they exposed, but a few trees also stood strong, freed from the choking fog. The fog circled Caprice and the stranger, acting like a barrier from the outside world.
The stranger made a polite apology, but Caprice could only stare and inspect him. This stallion was different than any other horse she's ever met. He wore a metal mask over his face and three strange bracelets on his ankles. A small chain dangled from the one free ankle. Around his neck hung a white scarf whose end was tattered with red. But the most fascinating part of him were his wings; they lay still and glassy by his side. Caprice knew now the white ghost she was seeing were his wings and scarf.
"Oh!" Caprice gasped suddenly when she remembered the stranger was probably expecting an answer. Especially since he had so nicely called her 'my lady'. Which Caprice did find quite flattering. "Don't worry about that. Everyone needs a good scare every once in a while." She said, winking playfully. "I didn't scare you, did I?" Caprice asked, joking. She knew very well she couldn't possibly scare a fly. But this would be a good chance to see if this newcomer had a sense of humor.

Much as a gentleman would, Knight waited for the water mare to finish her observations before speaking again. He had little experience when it came to the casual conversation. After all, his life was usually filled with nothing but bloodshed. But, the few precious moments he had with his subordinates helped the war horse crack out of that silent shell allowing his to possess a grasp on the concept of conversation. And he admitted that conversing with others wasn’t as bad as it seemed.
Red eyes observed the mare as she was seemingly examining every part of him. The stallion was a bit unfamiliar with being looked over so much and unconsciously took a small step back with one of his hooves. He wasn’t sure if he should chuckle or not about this. Usually he was the one observing others… not the other way around.
Quickly regaining his composure (thanks in part to his training), the stallion lightly shook his armor clad head. “No my lady,” Knight responded practically though he did note the slight bit of humor in the mare’s words. “Though, I should say that it is rather easy to get spooked in such a fog.” The art of humor was not something he could carry out very well himself though he did understand it and chuckled if something got to him enough.

Caprice frowned slightly when the stallion took a step back. She hadn't wanted to seem rude, but she found it nearly impossible to take her eyes off this stranger. He was just so different in everyway from what she was accustomed to seeing. I'll have to be careful with this one... Caprice thought, tilting her head slightly to the side. She has a way of coming off as loud and touchy, which wasn't for everyone. Most people expect the mare to be quiet and timid while the stallion is the one who makes all the moves. This was certainly not the case with Caprice. Given the chance she'll be the one running up to a stallion. Perhaps this stallion was just startled by her forwardness. But that was no matter; surely he would warm up to her eventually.
Caprice giggled a little at the stallion's response. He seemed so terrible serious and polite whenever he spoke to her it was hard not to laugh. But Caprice found this trait to be very adorable. She was going to have to work hard to find something for this boy to laugh about! But she didn't have time for that because a realization hit her: I haven't told him my name! This was odd, seeing as it was one of the first things Caprice usually asked of someone.
"In case you're curious, my name's Caprice." She said with perky smile. "That way you don't have to say 'my lady' anymore. It's flattering, but too formal~" Caprice didn't ask for the stallion's name, so she wouldn't seem too pushy or anything. If he wanted her to know his name, he would say so.

The war stallion gazed at the mare quietly during the brief moment the she was lost in her own train of thought. She did seem a bit forward in personality but otherwise was s kind enough soquili. And from his senses, she did not carry the blood line of those from a darker nature. That was good. But Knight had also come to experience that those who were descended from a darker ancestry were not necessarily bad themselves.
Getting his mind back onto the subject, the stallion faintly smirked at the mare’s giggle. It seemed that simple things amused her greatly… that or his persona and habits were strange enough to warrant a laugh from her. Maybe he was being too polite? Or that his personality type wasn’t as common here as it was back in his homelands? Being in a new land was certainly confusing. But, that was enough of that.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you Lady Caprice,” Knight replied kindly with a small bow of his armored head. “I am called Knight.” When it came to introductions, Knight was always very formal. However, the formalities died away with longer conversations if the stallion felt comfortable enough with talking. He assumed that he’d relax eventually with his speech pattern if he talked to Caprice long enough. He saw no reason why she wouldn’t be interesting to talk with… though long talks weren’t really his forte.

Caprice's eyes lit up when the stallion let out a faint laugh. It wasn't much, but it was a start. Now Caprice knew this stallion wasn't as serious as he looked, though he did look very serious. Caprice guessed he wasn't from around this area, since she'd never met anyone who acted or talked like him, but she would never be able to guess he was a war horse. Caprice lived a sheltered life in her little ocean cove void of such terrible things. The closest thing to trouble she'd ever faced was getting caught in a fisherman's net, but even then she'd been saved rather quickly.
When the stallion bowed slightly before her, Caprice laughed sweetly some more. It wasn't that this gesture was strange to her, but it was so polite Caprice didn't know how else to respond. No one had ever treated her this kindly before. The stallion didn't stop referring to her as 'lady', but Caprice didn't mind that as much this time. It was the first time she'd heard herself called Lady Caprice, and it actually didn't sound too bad. Not that she wanted to run around being called that from now on! But she would let it slide for this stallion since it seemed to be who he was.
Knight...Caprice thought, tilting her head to one side thoughtfully. The name seemed to fit the stallion perfectly and she could only guess maybe he'd been given the name for that reason. But nonetheless, her new friend now had a name! Caprice smiled joyfully and decided to give the name a test drive. "Would you like to see my ocean Knight?" She asked, motioning with her head back through the trees. "It's just over there a little ways." The forest was too foggy for her taste and Caprice longed to be under the sky. The sound of the rain was faint in the distance, so Caprice hoped it would only be drizzling lightly now.

The stallion watched the mare quietly as she was once again thinking about something. Caprice was an interesting mare and a part of the war horse was slightly envious that she could live in such a carefree way. Knight had occasionally wondered how he would have ended up if he had grown up as a regular wind soquili, without the troubles of war to weigh him down. Perhaps he’d be able to laugh freely like many of the soquili he encountered on these lands. He’d probably be able to run around and have more free time too.
Knight smiled a bit sadly at his thoughts. Caprice wasn’t the only one lost in thoughts for he too had a lot to think about. In these new lands, he could certainly try and live a normal life amongst the many others… but, that really wasn’t possible now… After all, he had his place and his duty to fulfill. He had his promises to keep and he was one to keep them. Still, that didn’t mean that the old war horse couldn’t enjoy life just a bit more while things were still quiet.
Red eyes glimmered with faint traces of bemusement while listening to Caprice talk. She really was a carefree water soquili… Not in the bad way per se but it was nice to be around something gentle for a change. “Seeing as I have nothing else to do, I’d be a nice change in pace. I rather like walking along the coast on my free time.” He could tell that the mare wanted to get out of the fog… and, he admitted to himself, he wanted to get out too.
