Hey all! Hope you all having a good beginning of summer/finals week. Is anyone involved in a show this summer (be it acting/crew/designer/director/etc)? Do you plan to be? Or do you have any fun stories of previous shows?
I would have auditioned for some community theatre, but I'm away from home at an internship, so I wasn't able too. But last summer, I was privilaged to be in "Ruthless! the Musical" at my local community theatre, and I must say that I might just be the only male (of age to drink) to play the character of Louise Lerman (a 9 year old female). But it worked (it's a farce, people!)
Anyone?

This summer I'm working at a big old show called "Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom." I got an intership as a Character Attendant to I get to work with the characters hand and hand. It's the closest thing I can get to theatre without actually performing down here.

I got a job with the staff of one of the biggest improv leagues of the province. I amde the tryout, but I've been cut sad . Still, I'm happy I got the job there 3nodding
And if I have some time, there's a TV show presented on a french channel across the Canada, and they're always looking for actors, even if it's just one sentence.

I'm working on a children's production of The Wizard of Oz, and guess who's playing the witch... muahaha! it's so much fun being evil. That, and I'm officially the luckiest actor in the cast because we perform outside in 95-100 degree weather and I get a bucket of water dumped over my head at the end.

I just found out about a half hour ago that I'm going to be in The Wiz at camp. Auditions are next week, I'm not entirely sure who I want to audition for yet, haha.

No shows this summer, small towns with no community theatre suck. But I am doing a tap/comedic acting workshop to prepare for a show next year.

Wow! Sounds like people are having exciting summers. I'm super jealous. I'm SO bored away from home, etc. Yeah small towns without community theatres aren't fun... at all. I'm sorry! But I feel ya! 3nodding

This year I was in three of the four shows at the semi-professional Theater in my city. I was in Beacon on the Rock (a local show), Treasure Island (based on the book, adapted by the director), and Midsummer's Night Dream. I was an actor in the first two and a techie in the last one.
It was an amazing summer, but I'm kind of glad it's over. I had rehearsals the same day as performances. Crazy stuff man... Crazy stuff.
