Dark clouds rolled through the sky, warning the creature bellow of the pending down-pour. If the crackle of thunder ahead wasn't enough, the sudden temperature drop made it quite clear; there was a massive storm'a brewing.
Kiarra sighed as she watched by the entrance of their cave, her eyes slightly dilated by the sudden shadows that loomed over the lands, covering everything with darkness.
"Oh Monty.." Kiarra cooed to the cold winds, her eyes searching hopefully for any movements. She had been napping earlier when Monty whispered his plans for the day, and now found herself completely clueless to where he was and unable to remember his words, though she figured he was probably patrolling or hunting...But she wanted him to be doing neither during such awful weather.
A flash of lightning made her heart skip, it was followed by a sheet of heavy rain. Kiarra and Monty had expected the cubs for quite some time, and with each passing day...her anxiety grew. Pregnancy risks..Loosing the babies..It worried her so much.
She returned to the warm seclusion the stone walls provided, forever awaiting her mate.
A stinging pain shot through her body, sending her into a painting frenzy. She closed her eyes and clenched her jaws, waiting for it to pass...as they usually did...Yet, this night, it never subsided.
Minutes of pain passed as Kiarras heavy purrs turned into pants. Finally, tiny sweet growls could be heard echoing from the cave entrance; Kiarra found herself nestling Monty's two newborns, curling around them protectively with her fluffy (EMPTY XD) tummy. She licked them down, Starting with the male, to remove any trace of smell so as not to attract any unwanted attention, then moved to the little lady whom had already began to suckle.
"I'll shield you from the world.." She whispered, "I'll protect you for as long as I can.." she purred, completely in love with her new family.

Montgomery padded into the cave, tired and dripping with rain, but victorious, dragging the carcase of a small rock sheep into the mouth of the cave.
He immediately noticed a smell that was entirely different from the usual slightly-damp smell of the cave, and warm, inviting scent of his mate. He dropped the animal immediately, and raced the rest of the way into the cave, seeing Kiarra curled around their kits.
"Oh Kiarra! They're beautiful!" He immediately dropped to his stomach, sliding over to sniff and gently nuzzle the suckling kits, his eyes aglow with pride and love. "Are you all right, love? I'm sorry I was not here, the game was all spooked by the thunder, and it took me forever to get our dinner." He licked her face, then turned back to admire the two tiny kits, making sure that the gathering puddle under him was draining away towards the cave mouth, not towards Kiarra and their young ones.

Kiarra waited a few momments until the cubs had finnished their first meal, then pulled herself away from them. She stood by Monty's side, watching the two helpless babies.
"I'm fine love.." She replied with tiered eyes, her ears twiching at the slightest whimper from the babies. She was proud of them, and of her mate. She nuzzled his wet chest, running her tongue along his cheek.
She picked up the scent of the rock sheep and looked back towards the entrance of the cave, "Another sucessful hunt..!" She cooed with pride.
She stared at Monty with curious eyes, dripping wet, and watched how two tiny beings could completly captivate him... It warmed her soul.
Her thoughts were disrupted as the tiny male kit nudged against her paw. He was quick! Clearing quite a distance to make his way towards the new parents. Kiarra laughed softly and bent down, reasuring him with her soft tongue, "You, little one, are as adventurous as your father..." She looked towards Monty with a gleam in her eye, before lightly grasping the scruff of the cubs neck with her teeth, and carefully carying him to his whimpering sister.
She curled halfway around the kits, and again, the young male cub crawled ontop of her paw, then lost his footing, sending him rolling directly back towards his sister.
Kiarra erupted with laughter and had to catch her breath before saying, "Your name shall be.....Mahoto. As strong and outgoing as your father, yet just as clumsy as your Mother."
She glanced at Monty as she nudged the female cub, "And you my Darling, will have your name chosen by your father.." she purred, as content as she had ever been in her life.

Montgomery practically glowed with pride at his mate, sitting hypnotized by the small lives crawling around on the floor of their den. He slowly and carefully laid down on his stomach beside Kiarra, and extended a paw to touch the young ones, purring gently.
"They are so beautiful, love! I'm so happy, I just don't know what to do."
He smiled widely, nuzzling the little balls of fur, licking the little female warmly. "Your name will be Anuket, the one who embraces life." He licked her again, using his nose to bump her over beside her brother. "And you should eat, love! You need your strength, especially now." He purred and turned to nuzzle his mate, his eyes sparkling. "You're eating for three now, and there's not much I can do to help with that." He grinned and bumped his head into her chest.

It was almost as though she had been hit with a wave of teenage infatuation. Every time Monty touched her, he made her skin tingle. She purred in agreement, pressing herself against his handsome face.
Her eyes danced over their babies cozying up to each other, very much asleep.
"I always thought of myself as alive..Happy..I..fancied myself as someone who enjoys life.." Kiarra confessed from her heart, "I stop and smell the flowers...I chase the odd grasshopper.." she blushed slightly, though tried to maintain her tone, "But I have to admit..It brings things to a whole new level when you find someone thats able take your breath away, without so much as a glance..." Kiarra felt naked and exposed, yet thought her mate deserved nothing less then to hear those words. "..You make it seem so..effortless.." She cooed, closing her eyes and slightly pulling her ears back as she leaned forward to graze his cheek with her little nose, a subtle touch that spoke louder then words..............quickly contrasted by the growl that erupted from her empty tummy.

Montgomery wordlessly gazed at his beloved, his eyes saying all that he needed to say, a window into his very soul. He slowly moved over towards her, pressing his side against hers, the deep rumble of his purring easily felt more than heard. After a moment, he licked her nose very softly.
"Kiarra... Well, I'm not sure exactly how to say what I mean... I sort of always imagined myself living out my days as a solitary creature, I'd always been most comfortable when I was alone with my thoughts, but since the moment I met you, I knew better. I just can't imagine ever being without you, it would be like living without half of my mind or only two legs, just impossible."
He paused, trying to order his thoughts a bit. "I have never been happier than right now, and I don't think I ever will be. I wish we could just stay here forever, just like this." He slowly paused, out of words to convey his feelings. The grumble from her stomach made an odd little counterpoint to the more somber, serious air in the cave, and brought a little grin to his face. He reached his head down to his kill and pulled off a choice little bit of fur-covered meat from the shoulder, nudging her with his nose and wordlessly offering it to her.

Kiarra pulled her ears back as she leaned forward, brushing her paw against his in an appreciating manner. She lightly opened her jaws and carefully clenched the choice cut between her pearly whites.
She pressed herself up against him again, catching his eye as she walked towards the whimpering kits...She was already so protective of their babies.
She curled her body around Mahoto, then carefully pulled Anuket closer to herself. When they had settled in to suckle, Kiarra finally began to restore some much needed energy, all thanks her mate yet again.
Sleep soon clawed at her mind, though her heart raced at the thought of ever closing her eyes on the cubs. "Monty.." She called out with a dopey grin, "Come love me..." she finished with a perfect smile, inviting him to enjoy their family.

Montgomery watched his beloved mate eat, joyful that he could be of help to her now, since she was going to be doing the greater part of the work to raise their cubs for at least a while, given that he lacked the biology required. The least he could do was to make sure she had all the food and protection she could need.
He nuzzled her affectionately and watched as she lay down to feed the kits, padding softly over at her invitation and laying down on the opposite side of the kits, forming a safe little pen of warm fur around them his tail draped loosely over Kiarra's, his nose nearly touching hers.
"With pleasure, love." He purred happily, touching his nose to hers. "They're perfect, you're perfect, and we have all of life ahead of us. I don't think I could be happier."
