[[Meant for Silverah and I, but anyone else in the family is welcome to come on in! I miss family rp.]]

Gaara of the the Sand, babysitter. Sure wasn't a title he was ever expecting to carry, or ever saw himself in the position of. But here he was.

It was strange to see, a mound of sand in the middle of a home supposedly meant as a shelter for the Realm's inhabitants. It had been Hitomi's idea to create a sort of make-shift incubation nest out of the powdery substance. It made him a little more comfortable to linger in the public place as well, but again that wasn't the main purpose.

Hitomi seemed to pay little attention to her father as she nestled each egg into a place in the sand and burried it halfway. Though she wasn't as obnoxious about it, she was a doting older sibling. Not only that, but she knew her father wouldn't dare nestle himself down with the eggs even if he had wanted to. So someone had to make it so he could avoid the matronly look while also keeping the eggs warm. When she was finished, she'd glance up.

"What's bothering you?" She implored knowingly, regarding Gaara's posture. "...Mom's going to be fine, alright? Kekkan knows his way around."

There was a soft grunt from the sand-manipulator. That wasn't what was troubling him -how did she know?- but he let her think it was. His cold jade eyes drifted over the eggs silently, lingering on the one with the touch of blue longer than it should.

Hoshiko had been out of the loop. What was supposed to be a few days of training in the wild had turned into a few weeks of being lost in the woods. But now she was back, cleaned, fed, and rested, and ready to find more mischief, with or without a sibling. Those were optional but preferred.

She trotted through the halls of HQ, tails flicking back and forth idly as she tried to sense out if any of her siblings were nearby. Alas, however, she had never been very good at this and only got little glows here and there. So even if there were any in the immediate vicinity, she couldn't tell who, or where. Oh well. If she kept walking she'd find something to do! There was always something to do!

She turned a corner and spotted to rather familiar redheads. Hoshi bounced over happily to stand beside her sister.

"Hi, dad! Hi, sis!" she chimed, and then focused on the pile of sand in the middle of the room. A training exercise? Or... Her eyes widened. "Woah! Eggs! 'Tomi, are those yours?"

Both of those redheads would turn at the sudden greeting, though it was Hitomi's face that lit up with lazy delight. "Well! If it isn't my long, lost sister, Hoshiko. Where've you been hiding?"

"Let me guess- lost?" Gaara intoned a bit darkly. He was being sarcastic, not knowing how true his words had struck. It'd been so long since he'd seen many of his children and it was hard enough trying to keep tabs on his first-born. Who knew what his sons and daughters were off doing. No one ever sought him out, that was for sure. The male could feel something sour in him for that, not the type to think about how the other side would have been going through.

"You know he's happy to see you," Hitomi's tone was dismissive, and pleased. Her expression blanched to one of surprise at Hoshi's question, however. Then she broke out into mirthful laughter. The hair raised slightly on Gaara's neck showed that he didn't share the amusement at the thought.

"As if! No, no." With a sly grin she gestured her head to their father. "Get in an early hello to our four new siblings."

Tired. That's all she felt anymore, was tired, tired, tired. The cool minty sheen of her eyes were threaded with crimson veins and the female's face looked gaunt even as she mindlessly wandered through the HQ without really knowing where she was going. It was true that Mayu tried to wander like her other sisters and brothers, but it always made her so uneasy. She often forgot where she was going and ended up getting lost... so, she stayed with at least one member of her family from time to time. Tired, so tired... If only she could close her eyes and sleep. but no, no, she couldn't do that yet (or even if she'd wanted to). She'd been accompanying her mother and Kekkan over here to see the rest of the family, and had pulled ahead of them in order to do so. They were bound to be close behind, but she'd inform her father nevertheless...

Mutely, the female detected familiar voices drifting from the room up ahead and paused, nails scritching with the faintest indecision at the floor beneath bandaged her feet. Through matted crimson locks, she peered into the room with a bland sort of expression that softened faintly at the sight of her father and two sisters. And, of course, the large pile of sand in the middle of the room that contained the four, new lives still untapped within their protective shells.

"Otosan..." Came the soft, almost meek call while the pale girl slipped across the room. "Okasan will be here soon." Her poor mother had grown tired and stopped to take a rest, left underneath the careful eye of her brother. Her own paws ached slightly as she shifted--belatedly catching sight of Hoshiko. "Ah, Hoshiko-chan..." She greeted quietly, crimson-dipped tails twitching with faint friendliness. It had been a long time since she'd seen her sister last! "Nii-chan." Hitomi was greeted in turn, though Mayu had seen her not very long ago at all.

The eggs were noted carefully, quietly, and perhaps with a hint of hesitation. She'd never seen kits before--not when she was an adult and so much larger, anyway. What would they do with them all? And why did her father seem so... peturbed? Exhausted, Mayu settled herself on her haunches and let her head droop a little, ears listening quietly for her brother and mother's arrival, as well as for any replies thrown her way.

"Actually, yes," said Hoshiko, grinning at her father. "How'd you guess?" Mad ninja skillz, she figured. Maybe he'd teach her those. "I missed you, too," she added happily, trying to bounce back. She knew her father loved her, even if he had funny ways of showing it.

"Siblings, huh?" she asked Hitomi, eyes going wider as she investigated the four eggs in the sand. Yeah, she could see that... except the blue one. That was weird. She decided it was better not to ask. Well, that was exciting! And-- HEY, WAIT A MINUTE!-- that meant she wasn't the youngest anymore! "Hah, yeah! I'm not the baby anymore!" she cheered, in case no one had realized the fact.

And then Mayu showed up, and she looked freakin' awful. "Mayu-chan," Hoshiko murmured, regarding her sister, "Are you okay?" She wouldn't take yes for an answer. That was clearly not okay. But it was nicer to ask "Are you okay" than to exclaim, "You look like you've been hit by a bus."

Whatever a bus was.

She did, however bounce back a bit at the mention of their mother. Well! It appeared she had just walked into a family reunion!

The two aforementioned members of the family would show up not much longer after Mayu proposed their arrival. The first in the door was Kekkan, his dull green eyes assessing the innards of the shelter while pulling the door wider at the same time. One scarlet paw lifted itself, soon finding its place upon the ebony back of the matron of the moment. His expression didn't show anything, but his gentle touch of reassurance said enough about their journey.

Akasu was more than weary. Not only had she recently conceived the great weights that made her already unstable legs impossible to stand on, but she had taken the trek all the way down from her mountainous home. The Realm was a much calmer place, that was what she and Gaara had agreed. It was flat land, and a lush one. The latter may have made for an uncomfortable father, but it was a small price to pay to ensure their future kits' safety. It was a tradition by now- there wasn't a one of the children that weren't hatched in this place, and looked after by their mother for the first few days in the new world. And so, with determination and the careful help of her son and daughter, she had found her way back to her own birthplace.

She was surprised to see Hoshiko in their midsts, but her tiredness seemed to fade momentarily for the joy that took over her features. There wasn't a child of hers whom she wouldn't be glad to see, but it had been some while since her youngest had been seen. It would be a lie to say she didn't worry about them, most of her children. The missing ones more and more.

"Hoshiko, how long it has been!" She addressed the brunette, taking slow but meaningful steps towards her child. "You've been taking care of yourself- I'm so glad. Won't you come closer so Okasan can see you?"

"My sisters~" Kekkan would croon softly towards his siblings from his mother's side, "Let's not all fight for my affections at once, hm? Nor celebrate- With these new brothers and sisters, why, we're old news! And I know how you girls must deal with age..."

Hisoka hid himself in the shadows that surrounded him. He had not had any contact with any of his family, save his sister Hoshiko, but that was only a one time moment and only lasted that, a moment.

The dark Kitsu scanned his family with bright green eyes that were dulled by confusion, fear and loneliness.

'Why am I ever here? I should be lost out somewhere. Somewhere far from here. I'm not needed.'

Hisoka wanted to run, needed to run far far away where no one could find him. He had done well with that before, but this time his legs did not obey. They stuck him in his place with cement. The male stood far off from the gathering place of his 'family' as he sighed. Family, he may be family by blood, but he had no true family, but he knew he could not blame them, it was his own fault he just up and ran.
