This is a great spot for watching without really being noticed, a perfect spot for Watchers to perform their important task. A group of fledglings have gathered to listen to a bard, and another bard is also making preparations to start a performance. It’s the perfect opportunity to watch the fledglings and figure out their temper and manners around others.

OOC notes: You can see and hear bits of the performances, especially if someone were to talk loudly. Use common sense, you will not be able to see a fledgling that sits very close to the stage as they will be obscured by others. The bard might be obscured too, and it will be difficult to hear every whisper in the audience.

Arbutus needed a night off from all his travels. Simple as that. So when he was approached with the task of “chaperoning” the fledgling's festival in the Minder's enclave, he'd hurriedly accepted... only realizing later that if fledglings were involved, it might not be the restful experience he'd imagined.

It came as quite the surprise when he was later informed that he'd be seated with the Watchers, surveying the event. The fact that he'd brought some tasty-looking seeds with him to snack on (originally for the fledglings, of course) didn't hurt either.

I just LOVE these kinds of events! Silverbell mused in her mind as she flew over to the festival. She was here to watch, and she had no quarrel with watching. There was fun to be had even for the Sentinels on the sidelines!

She alighted upon a perch, a place where she had a decent view of the proceedings. Eyes scanned around the branches, not many had arrived yet. They darted to a wildtype sitting in the watching spot, double taking as she foolishly overlooked him.

"Greetings to you!" Silverbell said with a small headbob.

Clandestine tightened her grip on the branch she was using as a perch. Slightly, she leaned forward to get a better look. It was difficult to see up near the Bard, but the entertainment was meant for the fledglings and not herself. What she should have been doing was her job. Her eyes were dragged away from the front of the crowd and instead focused on the crowd as a whole. Everything seemed to be alright.

Turning her head every direction, she searched for something that would maybe be slightly more amusing then this. It was a festival after all.

With the festivities having yet to begin, Arbutus spends the time familiarizing himself with his immediate surroundings. One Watcher is already perched nearby, dutifully surveying the ordeal. Another joins them a few moments later, appearing very excited as she settles into her task.

As Arbutus carefully lays out a portion of his collected wares, the second Watcher greets him cheerfully. “And to you!” he replies, nodding politely. It seems that he'd be acquainted with many new faces tonight.

“Seeds, anyone?” he offers cordially.

Silverbell was relieved, it wouldn't be just a quiet watching session, and many others she had never seen before, and probably wouldn't if it weren't for this festival. Oh and boy did those seeds look good, even if she had eaten before the event. She grinned. "They do look tasty."

She turned her head to look at the other Sentinel, letting her take first seed pick if she so chose to do so. Was common courtesy after all! Speaking of which, she looked from one to the other. "I am Silverbell, it's nice to meet you!"

As Arbutus and Silverbell exchanged greetings they seemed to have caught the attention of Clandestine. Breaking her concentration on the group of fledglings and handful of entertainers, Tine glanced at the pair of Sentinels. Seeds? Was Arbutus offering seeds to Silverbell and herself. That was mighty kind of him. Shifting her weight on her perch she turned to face the two feathered beauties. "Seeds? You're offering seeds? Oh, that is so very nice of you, sir!" She looked to Silver to take first pick since is was the kind thing to do.

She didn't select her seeds, though. How come? Was it because she was also trying to be a proper Sentinel just like Tine was attempting? Deciding not to hold up anybody she quickly picked out a few delicious seeds. Of course, she did leave the more tasteful ones as options for the others. Clandestine didn't want to be greedy and eat all the preferred ones. After gathering her seeds in a tiny pile she listened to the question that had be asked. "Silverbell? What a fantastically wonderful name you have! I go by the name Clandestine or just simply Tine. Whichever you prefer." She was enthusiastic in her complement and the tone she used was cheerful. A typical Clandestine.

Grinning slightly at the two ladies' brief contest of courtesy, Arbutus waits patiently for them to choose.

“Arbutus." he offers. "Pleased to meet you both!”

Once the two have taken their pick, he stores the rest in a makeshift leafy “pouch” of his and settles himself into watching.

With the noise from the two nearby platforms continually growing, Arbutus spots a very fluffy-looking Mist fledgling stumbling his way out the back of the crowd. “Poor fellow, doesn't seem like he's enjoying himself much.” he states, sympathetically. “I suppose it is a bit cramped over there.”

“Do either of you have any relations amongst the little ones?” he asks, swiveling his head to face the two ladies.

edit: I realized Aspen is actually near the front of the crowd, fixed by switching him with a random NPC fledgling.

Silverbell smiles, blushing inwardly at the compliment to her name. She goes through the names in her head a few times as she picks out a few seeds after Clandestine had gotten hers. She was bad at names and had to work to remind herself. It would be embarrassing to forget!

Popping a seed into her beak, she looks to the group Arbutus was watching, and looked at the fledgling that he pointed out. "Oh yes, it does look kind of crowded, I almost don't blame him!" She glances at another group for a little bit, trying to see what they were doing. "No, I haven't had the chance to meet any personally," she looks back to the two and shakes her head.

Realizing now that the two other Sentinels were now speaking of the fledglings and bards below, Tine decided maybe it was best to get involved. "Yes, yes indeed. Fantastic crowd below." It seemed at times that Clandestine only knew positive words. It wasn't every day she spoke hurtful ones because of the fact that they are hurtful. Her little pile of seeds was looking quiet tasty and tempting. Taking a single seed carefully she plopped it into her beak and crushed the shell, making her way to the softer core. The center was to die for. "Thank you for the seeds, Arbutus." With that being said Clandestine gave a soft bow with her head towards the group of fledglings.

Her eyes carefully picked threw the group for one specific little fledgling. She only had one fledgling buddy who liked to keep to himself. He was more on the troubled side. That's why Clandestine liked him so much, though. She enjoyed seeing that fellow happy.
"There! Right there, you see?" She bowed dramatically in the direction of the brown fledgling. "Fiachra. Such a kind boy." She had nothing but good news to say about him. "He's not related to me but he is my little buddy. Well, I like to think we're buddies."

“Quite welcome” he says to Clandestine, tucking the temporary seed pouch back under his wing.

With the introductions made, Arbutus relaxes into his own thoughts for a moment as he casually peers around the platforms. Through the noise, he can pick out some random snipits of a tale being told on the high platform.

"We... we know this won't happen this year cuz it rained like, a while ago. HARD."

The boisterous proclamation from one little audience member soared over the noise of the crowd, causing Arbutus to chuckle. “Yes, yes... I suppose we do.“

“You don't suppose she fancies being a Minder, do you?“ he asks, a playful touch of sarcasm lining his voice.

Silverbell turned to look at where Clandestine was indicating, and saw little Fichara. "He looks darling!" she smiles and watches him for a moment, until she clearly heard the voice of another fledgling.

She gave a small laugh. "Oh I do wonder!" Silverbell replied to Arbutus. She shuffled her feet and turned to look at another group on a larger platform. There seemed to be some activity going, and she could hear voices faintly that she couldn't make out.
"They look like they are having fun over there," she said with a grin.

“M'hmm” he mumbles unconsciously. A rather sickly-looking fledgling catches his attention as it emerges from the edge of the crowd. Such a shame, to have caught ill just before their very own festival and then to be sent away to rest... Ah well, at least the others are no longer at risk of catching whatever it has too.

Arbutus casually munches on his seeds as the festive atmosphere amidst the enclave continues.

“Heh, Fatewynd... I haven't heard those stories in ages.” he quietly reminisces.

Silverbell felt sorry for the little fledgling. Missing a very interesting story on account of being sick... She watched her for a little, examining the white patches from a distance. Could something so rare be contagious? She'd never seen one with them before. "Poor little one..." She munches one of her last seeds, trying to listen in on some the story.
