Nyota had heard, briefly, of the Leopard that had 'claimed' hunting lands near his pride. He didn't care much, and rather enjoyed stepping into the other's supposed territory, hunting small game rather happily. After all, he was a demon and he could do whatever he wanted. He wouldn't let some stupid Leopard tell him what to do.

Serithi had been sleeping in the tall grass, cradled and hidden in the cool shaded nest of fronds and foliage when the clever north wind blew itself in a maddening swirl through his sleeping place, whipping the long strands about and filling the keen Hunter's nose full of a strange and unwelcome scent. One black eye opened as a growl rolled like thunder in the deep barrel chest. The leopard rose quickly, the strong curves of his muscle casting shadows across his pelt in even blacker shades of pitch. Croaching low, the Hunter slipped slowly into the cover of the savannah and disappeared, tail flicking once in irritation before it too became unseen.

Serithi had fought long and hard for these hunting grounds he called his very own and if there was one thing he disliked it was poachers. If there were two, it was bossy " King of the Jungle" lions and poachers.

Both of which, the unfortunate Leopard would encounter in Nyota. The cub didn't just think he was better than the majority of other creatures that inhabited this world, he knew it. Even a lion who had no demonic blood was of higher class than a mere Leopard. After all, lions were the chosen ones. The ones demons would inhabit as they slowly began to take control of the planet.

The thought made the dark cub smirk as he caught sight of a small hare. He crouched low to the ground, tail flicking slightly behind him before stilling as he crept forward. This hare, he would kill. He would bring its torn remains back to his mother so she could witness his feast...

Serithi found the lion cub with no trouble. The wind was kind enough the lead him by scent from his resting place to his intruder, where he caught a brief glimpse of a navy blue tuft above the line of grass and an even better look at the fat hare just beyond.

There would be no kill today unless he was making it, arrogant pup, he thought to himself as he moved silently through the undergrow.

The skilled hunter melted seamlessly out of the grass, appearing as if by magic, crouched directly beside the young cub.

" Whatcha doing?" he asked half mock-whisper, half low growl.

And just like that, one fleeting whisper sent the hare into a panic and it ran. Nyota knew he could catch the lapine now, and he turned upon Serithi with golden eyes flaming with silent rage. But his body remained indifferent, for now. It was only the dark light (a contradictory light very few could manage) in his eyes that spoke of his growing irritation.

"I was hunting. Until you went and scared away my prey," he growled, eyes narrowing and tail twitching in agitation.

This was probably the leopard who mistakenly believed these lands were his. Nyota would soon let the foolish cat know just how misguided he was. But for now, he would play a game... See how long it took the feline to realize the cub wasn't what he appeared to be.

The hare ran and Serithi allowed a small, slow smirk to crawl across his muzzle, dark humour exposing long white teeth. The eyes of the cub meet only the flat cold eyes of a hunter, strangely eerie in combination with a wealth of expression in his snarl. He rose himself up from his crouch, each muscle rippling tight under the casing of his charcoal pelt. He was very large for a leopard and he knew it, used every inch of it to his advantage.

He cast a roving eye in the direction that the hare had fled, watching the grass stir in the distance as it ran.

"Really? And you were planning on catch it.... when exactly?" , he asked feigning interest.

Let the cub think it's the biggest lion in the jungle, he knew better and he be damned by the Hunt God himself before he let his fur get ruffled by a litte cubbin like this one.

"I would have felled it if it wasn't for your big mouth," Nyota said breezily, his tail twitching as he took one last long look at Serithi before abruptly turning and going in search of other prey. Really, the Leopard wasn't worth his precious time. He had better things to do...

Like finding another prey animal to kill and drag back to his mother.

"Don't follow me. I don't want you scaring away all the game," he called behind him tauntingly, smirking and stepping into the grass. Really, he preferred the cover of night over the bright sunlight that was upon his back now. He was a creature of the night, and he was practically invisible beneath its comforting blanket...

Serithi watched in amusement as the cub strutted away from him with nary but a flick of his tail. He didn't bother hiding the low chuckle that was the only effect the little furball's arrogance had on him. Watching the navy blue cub wander into the grass, the leopard sighed to himself and follow the trail with the ease of a true hunter, although he made certain to step on every twig and rustle every bush as he did so.

The prey animals would be talking tomorrow, about his "clumsiness", but he didn't care, he was busy chasing a poacher off his land. He had no illusions that the cub knew exactly whose land he was intruding upon and it was about time somebody taught that cub a thing or two about boundaries as obviously his parents had not. Then again, could you really expect better from some of the lions around here?
