Verge'lian sighed heavily as he regarded the horizon in front of him, the last glimpses of the sinking sun as the cool of the evening took over the world. Feeling a low breeze stir tendrils of silver mane, the massive blue lion rather wondered what his brother would think of him now...starting this pride, and...the children, the cubs. Surely 'Tani would not have approved of that, for in their youth, the brothers, red and blue, had been close beyond imagining, almost viciously jealous when it came to one another, possessed of their own little world that they let none venture into.
Not so any longer. Now he was father...father...and soon he would be king. But it would not be a delight...he mused, nay, but a duty. Just like this was a duty, and yet, at the same time, a privilege.
Blue eyes darted to the young cub that was supposed to be following him. As male, it was not solely the mother's duty to teach the youngsters to hunt, especially in a litter that had such an abundant amount of testosterone. "Nyota..." His quiet voice rumbled from low in his throat, as he called the cub to him. There were scents on the wind, and he wanted to see if the little one had any inkling of what they were.

Nyota'angavu reveled in the chance at his father's attention, and was determined to prove himself to the larger lion. His mother had already acknowledged him, and rather enthusiastically at that. But he had yet to show his father just how strong his demonic blood was. After all, how many cubs had already been scarred? And scarred others?
A wicked grin crossed Nyota's muzzle at the thought. He was sure that the lioness had yet to forget him, and if the terrified eyes of the hare and lion cub spoke of anything, they would not forget him either. They would remember him for many moons to come, the small demon who could have taken their lives if they hadn't managed to wriggle from his grasp. He was young still, and he would make sure he soon had the skills to ensure no prey would escape him again.
At his father's call, he bound forward, taking up stride beside the larger lion and looking at him with molten eyes. "Yes father?"

A young, flower-adorned male wandered through the tall grass with a look of curious wonder on his face. For Ryuuko, everything was new and strange, but not necessarily scary. After leaving his birthplace and any hope of the return of the mother that had disapeared, he'd grown in many ways.
Someone looking at him might almost wonder if he was a young lioness, his build was so slender and almost delicate. That was what happened when one didn't get enough to eat as a cub. On top of that, his face was so open, innocent and naive... as though everything was a source of awe and wonder. And for him... it really was. The falling sun and the vibrant colors that trailed after it were what held his attention this evening, as well as the way it seemed to make everything around him glow. Like... everything was somehow bigger than itself in the fading light.
A soft smile curved over his face as he wandered in a zig zag sort of path, moving towards anything that caught his interest and away again once he'd inspected it.
