 It was just one of those sleepless nights. One of those nights where it was too warm to lay around under a blanket like all good sleeping critters were supposed to. His fur was far too fluffy to be able to stay indoors during a time like this.
With such keeping him awake, it was no wonder that at the stroke of 11 in the evening, his paws were guiding him to the Essence Shop. He wasn't very hard to miss, seeing as his fur was bright white, something rather easy to see in the darkness of the night. Simply being outside was doing wonders for him though. He was able to air off and the slightest breeze would occasionally sweep across his fur and cool him off even more.
It was by 11:30 that he had made it to the shop, and rather easily settled himself down upon the porch. If he went inside, it wouldn't be any better than being at home. Yet if the Kyuria remained on the porch, the breeze could occasionally send him relief.

Though it was breezy outside, someone inside the shop in tree had two fans on. Both fans had been pointed down to a couch, stretched out into a bed. There, a top a thin sheet and several pillows, sat a dark kyunru with eyes the shade of aqua. Her long white hair had been placed in a bun on her head, her lace blind next to her.
Sylvera was reading, or at least trying to, read a book on the Kunkunese language. The only problem was that she had trouble reading, period. One was almost as confusing as the other! A thin smile spread over her tiny lips as she began to get the hang of it.
A floor or so down, she heard a tiny thud. One of her ears perked up, eyes moving to where it came. Regularly she might not have heard it, or she would have just ignored it. Marking her place and setting the book down on the bed, Sylvera tip-toed downstairs. It was all dark, save for a candle or two. Then she noticed something fluffy and white outside. Squeeing, she burst through the front door. "Lasuk! What are you doing out this late?"

The Kyuria's fur puffed up the instant her heard the unicorn's voice. It might have looked like he was trying to look more attractive, but it was the fact he really had not been expecting anyone to be around, so his fur had puffed up out of surprise. After a moment or two, his fur returned to it's natural place.
He'd turn to look at the dark Kyunru, though his eyes hardly looked like they were even open. "Couldn't sleep," was the honest response he gave. Soon enough to be followed with a parroted version of the same question:
"How about you, my lady?" It wasn't exactly a common thing to be in an Essence shop when it wasn't technically open for business.

Vera gave one of her biggest grins to date, and hugged the kyuria tightly. She tilted her head forward when she began to answer his question. "I have been having a real hard time at home lately. All the little family events, all the birthdays, all the holidays...remind me of home." Her cerulean eyes met his thin brown ones. "I miss my family. A LOT."
Her wings fluttered, and she began to make herself more comfortable. The sky was clear tonight, and it reminded her of memories with Lasuk. "Funny that all my memories at night are with you. When I was little, my family never let me go outside at night." She snuggled up to him, almost purring.
"Anyway, I am glad that you are here. I have two fans going inside, or we can stay out here if you'd like." Sylvera winked, a smirk on her face. "I've been told it's OK for a guest or two, and for the fans." She giggled, "and spending the night."

Allowing the femme to make herself comfortable, he puffed up slightly again. Ah yes, hugs were a wonderful thing to receive from a girl.
In a low and soothing tone, he spoke of his own life a bit: "I don't remember much about my own family...I just remember going on the big migration with the other Kyuria lads..." As he spoke of such, he didn't even sound the least bit sad. It solely sounded like he had accepted the fact and decided to move on with his life.
Allowing his voice to gain a bit more volume and liveliness to it, he somewhat scolded the unicorn: "You, are awfully alert for this time of evening... I take it you were not sleeping either?" Yet, instead of waving a paw at her, he nuzzled into her a bit.
"I don't mind though" he added with a purr. Place didn't seem to matter to him, but in reality, he preferred being outside for now. One could never deny the beauty of the night sky.

Nodding, she decided that they would stay outside for awhile longer. Like Lasuk, she knew that she could never deny or even compare to the beauty of the night sky. The moon and stars were very bright tonight, which had been rare lately with all the rain.
With a slight snug into the kyuria, her face blushed. "I, uh, have become like a night owl. I enjoy staying up late, as it is the time when I am most comfortable." The unicorn spirit shrugged, still close to the handsome Lasuk.
"We have not talked in awhile, but I spotted you hear just the other day. If I had not been busy, I would have pranced right over to you. Though, it seemed you were busy yourself in a conversation." She laid one ear down, and raised the opposite eyebrow. "You appear to be a popular fellow. Must be because you are so nice!"

"I don't fancy myself as a popular character," he chuckled a bit.
"I do have to agree though, the evenings are far kinder to me than the days lately. They are more beautiful than the days." The winter-furred creature paused and turned to the elegant unicorn. "And now that I know it is the time you are comfortable, I have even more reason to linger about during this time." With that, he gave Sylvera a small lick to the cheek.
"Though, the evening sky must be jealous of you, Sylvera..." he started off, pausing thoughtfully to see what reaction he'd get.

The lick turned her face scarlet. She surely had not been expecting that.
Vera was also not expecting him to comment on her beauty the way he did. A shocked look sprung to her face, then a slight giggle. "Funny that I was just thinking how I could not compare to the night sky, and then you say that it is that that should be jealous of me." Again she cuddled close to him."You are so handsome, Lasuk. I just love it when you give me that slight smile, and barely open one eye."
Suddenly, a star zoomed by in the sky. The kyunru turned to the kyuria to see if he had also noticed the shooting star, or if he had been looking elsewhere.

"The moon, and none of the stars could outshine the purity of your hair, gorgeous." Perhaps it didn't come out 100% perfect, but he already got the point across. However, it was his turn to be slightly surprised. He was usually one to dish out the compliments, but not one to get them in return.
"My eyes are open, but it's just hard to see them... tis a trait all of my kind seem to have." The shooting star could go past all it wanted, but for now, this was a moment, and it deserved all the attention it could get.
"I think the one thing that makes me happiest when I am with you, is when I see a smile on your maw. All the beauty in the world wouldn't matter if there was no smile, no happiness found in it."

All of the compliments touched the kyun's heart, deeper than anything from recent times. She kissed Lasuk softly on the cheek, giggling at the look on his face. Snuggling closer, she sighed happily.
The kyuria's coat was soft and warm, like a big pillow. It was possible to fall asleep against something like that. Vera's wings fluttered, her eyes going from the stars to her male pal. "Lasuk, do you have goals in life?"
The question must have caught him off guard, because it took awhile for an answer. "I mean, my mother used to tell me that the stars were dreams waiting to be fulfilled."

The sweetest thing in the world had just been planted upon his cheek. Underneath his pale fur, a very faint hint of a blush seemed to appear. Yet, trying to keep some composure, he cleared his throat and attempted to fiddle with the new question at hand.
"Perhaps to stay sane? Or perhaps to find the most beautiful of all things in this lifetime." It seemed like he had not thought on this subject too many times in his lifetime. "...I suppose I don't have any real goals. I just live and do what seems to feel right for each situation..." Perhaps he really was a natural bachelor after all.
Turning to the stars, he attempted to understand the saying which Sylvera offered. "...'stars were dreams waiting to be fulfilled'...eh? Sounds like your mother was a wise kyunru, even if I don't understand it completely."

Sylvera slightly shrugged one shoulder. "It's just one of the few memories that I can bring out without feeling sad. I know that it is in the past and I need to move on, but we were all so close." This time, the sigh was not so happy. Shaking her head, the kyun decided it best to change the subject.
"Would you like to come inside for a drink or some food? I am starting to get a bit thirsty." She closed her eyes, and beamed a smile.

At the moment, Sylvera was quite easy to see through. To suddenly want something from inside was definitely a way to change the subject, hoping he'd forget or something. The one thing that made it worse was the fact she had been sad.
He wouldn't say a word. Instead, he'd lean in close to her, attempting to wrap his body around hers almost like a fluffy nest. He'd hold her close to him and lean in even closer. So close, that even Sylvera would be able to see those brown eyes of his that seemed always shut. Once more, Lasuk gave her a kiss. However, much more emotion went into this one than the first one. And once he pulled back to look at her eyes again, his own deep brown eyes almost seemed to bed for her to stay close.

The kiss took her by surprise. She had not been expecting it, since she had just asked if he wanted to go inside. O.K., so maybe it was obvious after all. She nodded, deciding to stay outside for awhile longer. There was an even nicer breeze now, and she was starting to get sleepy.
Carefully she laid down beside Lasuk, and placed his tail around her. Laughing, she began to feel right at home. Patting the spot beside her, Sylvera hoped that he would lay down next to her. "So, how is life with Rhapsody?" Again she laughed, thinking what was to come.
