Moto lay in the shadow of a rather large rock, eyes closed and ears alert. It was times like this she almost wished she had a pride she could call her own. For safety. But...there was still the risk of her sister. She didn't want anyone else to suffer under her sister... Or her spawn. Her attempt at napping was interrupted by the shiver that ran through her. The dark little cub with markings and eyes so like her sister...He had to be her nephew. And the thought scared her to no end. She sighed and rolled over onto her back, letting her orange-amber eyes scan the clear sky above her.

Farai was out wandering as well, the dark blue male having just a bit of free time before he would have to go and report back to Xibalba. He still rather hated that female for stealing him from his mother... forcing him to join her little spy network, learn from her and her stupid hyena henchmen.
But for now, there wasn't much that Farai could do about it. He didn't know anyone else, had no idea where the rest of his family was... and ... though he hesitated to admit it ... he was a bit frightened to be completely on his own.
With a little sigh, the young adult male shook his mane out and sat down on a little rise to rest for a moment, eyes scanning the horizon. He spotted Moto after a moment or two and eyes narrowed. She was close to where Xibalba was staying .... maybe too close.
He wasn't sure if he should warn her or not though...

The lioness counted the clouds that passed over her, trying to get the swarm of eyes like her own out of her head. Even after so long, Hakuna continued to torture her. Sighing once more, she rolled back over and stood, shaking herself off. She may as well continue on. No use in trying to nap when your mind didn't want to.
As she turned about, trying to decide which direction to go, she noticed a rather dark figure not too far away. Close enough she could tell he was a lion, by the great dark mane. No harm in asking directions, she hoped.
She trotted over, catious in case she needed to run. You never knew in the Rogue Lands. "Good day!"

Farai hesitated at the lioness's greeting, tensing just a little. Aside from his mother and sister that he had lost, the dark male didn't trust too many females. Thank you very much, Xibalba.
Still, though, this one didn't seem unfriendly, at the least. And she didn't have that sneaky, false sort of quality to her voice.
So, "Hello..." he replied, voice quiet, reserved.

Good, he didn't seem violent! Moto gave him a soft smile. "I won't bite you. Last I knew, lion doesn't taste very good." Her voice had a humorous quality to it. Honestly, she'd never had lion, and she never wanted to. Something about eating another of her kind just made her queasy.
"So...what brings you to these parts?" She'd never been through here before...so maybe he lived here.
Oh...She hoped she wasn't trespassing!

Farai blinked and then smiled at the comment about not biting him. If she tried, she would likely be in for a surprise. Though he wasn't all that large of a lion, when cornered, he could and would fight.
"No ... I don't think that I would taste good," he agreed after a moment or two.
Then he tilted head a bit. "I live ... near here. Not too close, though..." He was still debating over whether to warn her or not. But it was likely Xibalba wouldn't bother her anyway...

Moto chuckled. "Then we're in agreement on not fighting. After all...I'm sure I taste quite bad myself." She looked about. "It's not a bad looking area. Certainly better than most places I've been."
She smiled at the other lion. "I'm Moto'nyota. I'm a wandering healer, so if there's any you know who would need my services..."

Farai blinked at that, and then tilted head just a bit, ears perking toward her. A healer, was she ...? Then it was probably best that Xibalba not learn she was in the area. Though the dark male had issues with trusting females, someone who said they were a healer generally didn't lie.
"It is a nice area... " he said slowly. "But ... it's already ah. Taken, so to speak." Lowering his voice a bit, he continued on. "There's a lioness who lives near here... her name is Xibalba. When I was younger, she ... took me from my mother and brought me here to train me to help her with things..."

Moto made a small 'eep' sound, looking a bit sheepish. "Oh dear...I did not mean to in...trude...Oh." The description the other gave her turned that sheepish feeling to one of something between anger and dread.
"One of those types...I thank you for the warning." A cubnapper. Oh how she wanted to give the other lioness a good thrashing. Moto couldn't stand those who took cubs from their families with no good reason. But she was smarter than to do so. She had no other knowledge of this Xibalba...and it was likely she had protectors if she wasn't a good fighter.

Farai watched the other lioness closely as her expression changed. Well ... so she didn't approve, did she? But of course, he knew that she wouldn't do anything about it. No one ever did. They were all very sympathetic and "understanding" but in the end they still left.
He'd learned to get used to it, though, and didn't bat an eye.
"Yes... so it might be best if you left, unless there is something in this area you need."

Moto shook her head. "I almost do wish there was something I need...But I do not." She smiled sadly. "I am just a passerby, as usual I suppose." If he had been with this Xibalba since he was young...not many even thought to help him, she supposed. And she was going to be yet another.
She sighed and moved to leave. "I am sorry I can be nothing more than a passerby...and I do hope someone will eventually stop...and be something more."

Farai gave the lioness a sharp look at that - startled at how well her words reflected his own inner thoughts. He wondered fleetingly if she were a Seer of some sort... but then again, it was really none of his business.
Telling himself he didn't care, Farai glanced off to one side. "I hope that too, sometimes," he murmured softly - not entirely sure why he was saying this to her. "But it's not likely to happen."

Moto just chuckled. "One never knows. Karma brings us our rewards in the strangest of ways sometimes." With that said, and a heavy heart, she started trotting through the grasses.
And in her mind, she repeated a prayer she seemed to say far too often now. 'May those who deserve it be rewarded, and those who do not be punished.' And she vowed one day, she would not just be 'the passerby' for someone else.
