And I was quite disappointed. I didn't like it. These are just some things I noted while reading it. Please post what you guys think.

1) Why is it an adult book? I think I would put it down there with Twilight in the YA section. I think the Twilight series is even more 'adult' than The Host actually....

2) Did anyone else notice the Twilight similarities?
-17 year old girl falls madly and obsessively in love with older guy who won't have sex with her.
-Two guys fighting over one girl..although I guess it's a bit different since it's technically two different people in one body..
-Fords Deep Waters=Carlisle Cullen=compassionate, anti-violent doctor
-I know these aren't the exact quotes, but I dont' really go memorizing them..but okay. In the Host (from Wanda to Ian): "I've lived 9 lives and it's you I fell in love with, a human"
In Twilight (from Edward to Bella): Um..this one I really can't remember..but something about living for 100+ years and finally falling in love and it's with *drumroll* a HUMAN!"

3)400 pages out of the 618 were all of the same thing and nothing interesting happens. There's the beginning where there's excitement and mystery; running from the seeker, trying to figure out what the "lines" were, arriving at the human camp. That was good.
Then, this is the entire middle section summarized: everyone hates her, the group goes on the raid, group that stays behind start to like her, raid group comes back, everyone hates her again, Wanda goes about doing her normal chores, everyone except Kyle grow to like her. It started to get really boring after a while.
Then in the last 150 pages something FINALLY happens and the Seeker, who should have come back like 200 pages ago, makes her little short lived appearance. Yay.

4) The ending. So. Predictable. OMG. I was really hoping for some kind of twist. Putting Wanda's soul in another host? That was the most obvious solution in the world. Like wtf Stephenie...

5) The characters were all so boring. Only one of them actually had some real personality and you could actually care about, and that's Jeb. He was the only interesting one out of the bunch.

I think that's all I have to say..I was really hoping the Host would be good since it got such good reviews. But I was severely disappointed...

I have to agree. With everything you said. (Except that I think Carlisle was also personified in Doc)

I was very disappointed. I wanted to through the book at the wall, I was so bored. You can't just drag us in the mud for 400 pages promising us a better turn of plot.

I agree that it wasn't really an ADULT book, but then again... I'm wondering if the author is kind of severely limited on that level, knowing that a huge chunk/if not ALL of her readers are YA.

I also agree that there were a LOT of similarities between the two books, but I'll give her a break because that's what she's good at, and that's what she knows how to write.

The hopeless romantics who don't really care much for plot or setting, who just want to see the two protagonists end up together at the end will really care for the characters and what happens to them, and will overlook the fact that this is pretty much a repetition of the Twilight series.

Now, the only thing I really liked about the book is that Wanderer really valued what it means to be human which was refreshing from all of the stories where humanity is worthless and evil, I liked Jeb the most, and I thought that Ian was a more honest, more human character than Edward (in every sense of the word).

When I saw this pattern in the book, I realized that the Twilight Series was kind of like that too. Interesting beginning, really long middle, quick climax and summary at the end. It's not bad I suppose, but it could be a lot better. Of course, Stephenie is probably working on that.

I agree with Pattyrisha08 on her first two points.

But i do agree about the book being boring. Yes the beginning was good and got me hooked, but then the whole time she's in teh caves, it's really slow and uneventful. Basically like what KiraLight said about the summary. I mean, seriously, it's just dragging the readers on and on.

There were alot of times where something would happen, and then it would drift back to boredom. There would be random spikes of interest, but then just as quickly, it would drop back down again. it got quite annoying.

ANother thing I had trouble with was that there wasn't really a climax...
there were "little climaxes" all over the place, but there wasn't really a grand climax...to me...(my guess is that it's supposed to be when the seeker comes and she gives up her host?) It just kinda went all over the place for a while.

I didn't like how the book was organized. It was stephenie, and i will always love her writing...but this wasn't her best by far...

I agree, the biggest flaw of the book is how it drags on. sad

That's exactly how I felt reading the book.

Random interesting bits. Mostly boring filler.

I wonder why Stephenie Meyers continues to make such long books. If she halved the size of the books she writes, she could just keep the good parts that everyone wants to read.

That's my opinion, anyway. ^_^;

i know what you mean it took me so long to get through the part where it was the same thing i think i had to put it down several times it took me 3 months to finish when i could normally done it in 2 days i did like her stories on other galaxies, planets, and the creatures

I didn't like the host like I did the twilight books and the short second life of bree tanner. It wasn't as interesting as I thought. But if an author writes a popular series and and it's a hit and the author writes another book you think that the book would be either about the same or even better then the series that the author currently wrote. Not in this case lol

I enjoyed it.
I liked the characters and the plot MORE THAN the twilight saga.
It was interesting the whole way through.
