As Starsong left Savith by the waterfall and Dancer on the beach she headed onto the path that lead up the cliff side to the top where the tree's were a bit more dense. She ventured further into the thickening tree's, her ears pricked and eyes alert, her senses on edge for the faintest sound of wildlife that would be enough to feed them all.
She went in a little ways, the underbrush was starting to thin and the forest paths only natives would know appeared to her. To most elves a forest was a forest, but to her, she could remember the differences in every one she's ever been in.
A creak.. a snap of a branch.... a sound. Starsong turned her head in that direction and wondered what it could be, she drew her bow and urged Shine on.
Suddenly Savith sent to her. She rolled her eyes a bit and groaned. She had just left, what was so urgent that he had to disrupt her concentration. She looked back the way she had came, the river above the cliffs was not too far off for she heard the waterfall clearly in her keen ears. She looked again towards the snapping noise and shrugged. It was probably just a squirrel anyway.
**Come on Shine** She sent privately to her Wolf and started to lope back to towards the cliff entrance.

He had been walking for several hours looking for some food and supplies. He had left Peyote back at a small cave and gave her a rock, saying if anything bad came to get her, to throw the rock and he'd come running. She was kind of gullible like that, or so he thought. He had definantly found something but was not inclined to tell Peyote that once he returned. He followed his nose towards the smell of the ocean, he could see it when he climbed a tall tree so he decided to head in that direction, at least there might be some fish and some seaweed he could fashion in to a rope or net.
He wasn't parituclarly caring where he went or how he got there, he probably made a bit of noise as he tromped through the forest looking at the ground as he walked.

Peyote gave Relim a nod and a confused little pout as he put the rock in her hand. She opened her mouth to ask what kinds of things would come after her, but he was gone before she could get anything out. She chewed her bottom lip and fidgeted in the cave until she couldn't stand it anymore. Okay, so it was only like ten minutes so come on! This cave's all icky and gross.
Alone and restless, Peyote stands and reorganizes the few possessions the pair had. This meant unpacking everything, sorting it by size, how often it was needed, then repacking it all... three or four times... in a row... until....
Peyote screamed and scrambled for the rock. Her hand closed on it, and she flung it with all her non-existent strength.... at a wall... not anywhere near the thing that was 'after' her. A rabid Baylor Mutant... squirrel. (Okay, so it was just a regular squirrel, but have you seen those beady little eyes? sweatdrop )

As she was heading back there was that noise again. She turned her head and sent to Shine again, then sending privately to Savith, letting him know that she hears something in the woods and won't return until she figures out what it was. Basicly, he was on his own.
She decided to take a higher vantage point and climbed the nearest tree, leaping as quietly as she could from limb to limb, Shine stalking in the bushes below. Then she saw it... it wasn't very hard to see. A red tuft of hair bobbing along the forest path. She squinted her eyes and saw an elven male, a goback by her discerning eye. He was kicking a rock around and not really paying attention. Didn't he know the dangers that were out in this unknown world?
She smirked, then frowned, she felt a bit foolish, hiding up in the tree. Then she smiled. Another survivor, and not a troll or a five finger! She plucked a few twigs off of the tree and waited until he got close enough then started to toss them at him.

He had been thinking about his homeland, wondering what it was like now that the world was in ruins. He thought about his mother and the palace of the high ones when something fell onto his arm. He looked at it, not very alarmed and brushed off the twig. He continued walking and felt another one fall on him. Why were so many twigs falling on him?? He looked up and saw a shimmer of leaves in the sunlight, then something moved. He reached for the hilt of his sword and then let go. Another elf, he could see. He wasn't very afraid of her, but then again, why should he be. "Hello there?" he said up into the tree.

That thing was still there, in the cave!
Where was Relim?
Ohmaigawd!
Peyote scrambled to her feet and ran from the cave, screaming for her travel companion and leaving all the rest of their things there.
"RRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIM!!!!!!!!!!"
Well, that solved the squirrel problem. At the movement and sound and already spooked by the rock, the squirrel ran for it... right out of the cave.... after Peyote.
ohmaigawd! 'That thing is chasing me', Peyote thought in panic and ran all the harder, tripping on her sandles, scrapping her knees and hands, and scurring to her feet again. She screamed louder, running away from the evil, elf-eating flufftail that was hunting her down.

**Hello** she said, smiling. **you know I could have killed you 10 times over by now** she smirked a bit, wondering if he knew how much danger he was in, or maybe he knew how little she was in. She looked around and wondered, then asked **Are you alone? Have you seen others?** She was curious about this elf, wondering where he came from, how he had survived.

He just shrugged at the mention of her killing him, he was instead eyeing her up and down as if she were a tasty morsel. "hmmmm" he murmured, "I think the question is, are YOU alone?" He winked at her and waggled his eyebrows. Smooooth he thought to himself, that was real nice. He noticed no decernable reaciton from her and nodded his head 'Yeah, I've seen pleanty of elves. Most of them burnt to a crisp or long dead though." He said with a lighthearted tone. He jerked a thumb back the way he came "I have a friend with me, I was looking for food, but..." he said eyeballing her again " i think I found something better" He winked again and gave her a mischevious smile.

Terror took hold as Peyote scrambled down the sort-of path from the cave and into the forest. She dropped to her knees, out of breath and dizzy. It was then that she looked up, and her jaw dropped.
"Great Sun," she murmured, and she looked around in frightened awe. Sure, she'd seen forests while travelling from the shattered remains of her home to here, but never had she been out here alone away from camp. Fear sped her heart as she stood up.
"Helloooooo?" she called out, hand on the trunk of a tree. "Relim? Any one?" eek

She blinked a few times at his reaction towards her. What was up with this guy... she didn't think much of him. He was pompous and arrogant, much like the rest of his tribe that she had met a few times. **I came out here in search of food as well, I haven't seen many animals around though...** she trailed off and looked around. She made a disgusted face at his last comment. **We have a few of us together in that cover down yonder** she said pointing **Maybe you and your friend will be safer with us** She really didn't want to invite this jerk to stay with them, but he was elven, no matter how lewd, and the more of them, the better their chances were.

He scratched his unruly hair and looked back at her "Well probably won't find a whole lot over here, the smell is driving them away. There's a camp of dead humans about half a mile that way" He pointed to the east. "Probably spooking the wildlife away." He shrugged and looked back the way he came. "Yeah, I suppose we should get her, she's probably killed herself by now, not the outdoorsy type, if you catch my drift" he said non-chalantly. He turned on his heel and started heading back the way he came, he could hear some faint mewlings off in the distant, and knew it was probably poor Peyote.

Tears came to Peyote's eyes as her desert-born eyes tried to cope with the shade of the forest. She pulled herself together and looked around, suddenly realizing that in her terror-filled sprint away from the killer squirrel, she got herself completely lost. Where was the cave? Where was Relim? Did he fall down and die? Did he decide he didn't like her because she didn't have her perfumes and oils, her nails were all cracked and uneven, and her hair had seen better days? Frightened, she began walking that-a-way, calling out as she wrapped her arms about herself.
"Relim? Hello? Anyone?" crying eek crying
