Quote:
Quest Name: Argor’s Beast Hunt
Quest Type: Any players who wish to participate and (maybe) get themselves a beast.
Players pay 50 ickli to compete.
Quest Description:
Argor is the father of the twins who run the beast/steed shop, and for some years has been holding Beast-Hunting competitions every season or more at his hut on the edge of the Galgorra forest.
The aim of the game is to capture or kill a beast for you (the player) to keep. It is open to many players at once (in fact, Argor does not allow the hunt unless there are two players at least) as they compete to see who gets the best catch. The game lasts one day (or, until the Dungeon Master for the particular game calls GAME OVER).
Each player is stripped of his/her weapons and given two bog-standard bits of equipment. 1-a bow and arrows and 2 – a length of rope. They are then sent out into the edge of the forest and the plains near it, to catch themselves a beast.
What beast appears to each player is decided at random by a dice roll(s) by the Dungeon Master. For each turn the player has, there is an option of any beast appearing, or none at all. More common beasts are more likely to appear. Less common beasts (and thus, more valuable beasts) are less likely to appear.
Some rare beasts fight back with very basic attacks, most do not. If your hp reaches 0, you must return to the hut.
You can choose to ‘team up’ with other players ( the number of people allowed per team depends on the number of players currently taking part in Angor’s Beast Hunt). Team members can hunt together. There is still only allowed 1 beast per person, but at the end of the game the total value of all the team members beasts is calculated and the reward distributed evenly to them all. However in team play you CANNOT KEEP A BEAST. You MUST sell your bounties.
As a player your character has several options during the game:
1. Kill - When an animal appears to you, you can choose to kill it and take it’s carcass back with you as your prize. To do so you must get the creature’s hp down to 0
2. Keep - You can choose to capture the animal to keep as a pet or steed, or to sell later. To capture the beast, you must get it’s hp down to 2 or 1.
3. Sabotage - You can choose to try and sabotage another player’s attempts to capture/kill an animal. As they fight the creature you choose ‘sabotage’ and roll the dice. If it lands on an ODD number the enemy character you chose is stopped from attacking his/her beast and the beast escapes.
4. Steal. – If you want, your character can steal another player’s beast they have captured. Select which player you wish to steal from, select ‘steal’ and roll a dice. If it lands on a 1 or 2, you are successful in your steal. You thus discard you current beast and steal theirs. The player you stole from thus has no beast.
5. Revenge - If a player has tried to steal form you, or stolen from you, or if you are a team-member to the victim, you can roll the ‘revenge’ dice. If you roll an EVEN number, the character that stole from you is successfully caught and after the game is reprimanded through punishment. (eg put in the stocks). Furthermore, if you are successful, they are no longer allowed to use the ‘steal’ or ‘sabotage’ dice for the remainder of the game.
You have only ONE current catch throughout the whole game. If you catch a new animal you prefer, you must discard your previous animal.
Eg:
Caught: giant rat
-> the character then encounters and successfully catches a Unicorn.
-> Giant rat is discarded. The unicorn becomes the current catch.
Whatever your current catch is by the time the Dungeon Master calls ‘GAME OVER’ is the catch you are stuck with.
Quest Prize:
At the end of the game, you win your current catch (the Beast) dead or alive.
Also, if you’re character has been naughty by trying to steal other people’s catch, they might face the ‘reward’ of public punishment at the Town Hall Notice Board, in a little side rp event. Hopefully, everyone will attend to watch their humiliation. *buwahaha!*
(that’s medieval rps for you, folks!)
The value of the catch differs depending on the rarity of the beast, and what you have chosen to do with it.
1. If Killed.
If you killed your catch then you can sell it for it’s various parts, or keep tehs eparts for your character’s use.
Eg
*Skin/hide – sell for money (eg 80ickli) or, for a small price, you can have them mad einto clothes. If a rare beast, for a larger price you could have them made into armor (eg giant lizard hide)
*meat / bones – sell for money (eg 50 ickli) or keep to eat
*Horns/special items – on rare beasts you can sell things like horns etc for a substantial price (eg unicorn horn sold for 3000 ickli) or keep them and – for a large price- have them made into weapons.
*Head – you can keep it to have it made into a taxidermy head to hang on your wall with pride biggrin (eg place your order in the Hut that you wish to have a head made, and you might get a little graphic/banner of your catch’s head-mount for your sig! XD)
2. If Kept Alive
If your catch is alive you can sell the beast directly or sell it in your own personal shop. The value depends on the type of animal it is. However, if you seell it directly note that it will be bought for a price a little lower than the store price in the merchant quarter.
3. If you want to keep your animal.
You can also choose to keep your animal as your pet or steed. However, it may need to be trained for a small price, especially if you wish top use the animal as a steed.
