This question has bean bugging me for like ever and now i'm letting it out. Would there be any particular reason viz shouldn't make another fma anime but this time base it off the manga? I mean cardcaptors has 2 differant creators for the anime so why souldn't fma? Just to add in another thing i love the anime as it is but it's to short we all know there are 51 ep. to the anime 5 ova's and 1 movie 5 games and a whole bunch of other things but to me that's not enough

Viz didn't make the anime. They only publish the manga in English here in North America. The anime is liscensed by Funimation stateside.
Studio Bones is the company which produced the FMA anime in Japan and the director already said he was done with any FMA-related projects after the movie.

Same with the above, but that doesn't mean other companies can't produce them (with permission).
And it was short because the manga had obviously not progressed as far as it did now (in other words, it was too early to catch the rest of the plot without spoiling the whole manga), and Arakawa-sensei didn't want the ending to be shown before the manga. There had to be a time where they split plots.
Well I wouldn't know anything about this, but it's nice to speculate. (I also like the idea of another anime being more manga-based) Maybe Arakawa-sensei doesn't want any more productions related to FMA yet. Maybe after the manga is finished we might see something more??

I suppose you'll be happy to hear that there were rumors of an FMA sequel. I don't think it'll pick up where the anime left off, it may be a remake following the manga accurately.

Don't get your hopes up tho, rumors are only rumors, wait till you hear an official announcement then get excited if it winds up true.

Actually, it is a new series anime following the manga exactly.
Well, according to a blog that claims they got the information from Moon Phase themselves. Apparently, they're going to make the official announcement at the end of this year.

But, like you said, we shouldn't get our hopes up; this blogger's info might not be legit. ;_;
