As we all know, the epilogue of Eclipse is in Jacob's perspective. At the end of the epilogue, it says, "If the silence in my head lasted, I would never go back. I wouldn't be the first one to choose this form over the other. Maybe, if I ran far enough awa, I would never have to hear again.... I pushed my legs faster, letting Jacob Black disappear behind me." my theory is that he will choose to stay in the form of a wolf forever, and that he will lose the ability to change back to human. In the 4th book, if he runs into Bella(which is a HUGE possibility), he will either run away because she stinks like vampire(if she gets changed) or he will still try to be with her(please please get over her Jacob). What are your theories about this subject???

I believe he will try his hardest to stay in his wolf form, too avoid everything. However I think somewhere along the line he will go back to Forks. He is a bit too stubborn, and somewhere along the line he will decide not to run, and attempt one last time to win Bella over. He may even try to convince her not to change into a vampire. However we will just have to wait and see what happens in Book 4. I can't wait! heart

I'm not entirely sure if I actually see that Jacob is actually leaving his pack. After all, it's a responsibility. He was actually supposed to be first in command. I think what he meant by "leaving Jacob Black behind" is him trying to get away from the Jacob Black that is desperately in love with Bella.
