Yesterday, the state California overturned the ban on gay marriage! They are the second state to legalize gay marriage (Massachusetts was first). However, the U.S. federal government still does not recognize same-sex marriages in Massachusetts or California as being marriages under federal law. Hilary Clinton hopes to change that if she gets elected to office.
That being said, Ellen Degeneres announced on her show today that she is getting married in June to her long-term girlfriend Portia de Rossi. This is HUGE!! I am a big fan of Ellen.
Discuss:
-->is America finally moving forward towards equality? -->Ellen's marriage -->Feds not recognizing gay marrage

It really makes me happy that some places are taking the initiative to "level the playing field," so to speak. I think with this and Ellen's announcement of her marriage, there will be more of an effort to get it legalized everywhere in the US.

i love ellen! it's so cool that she can get married finally! and i live in california. of course, being that san fransisco is, like, the US gay capitol, i can understand the gay marriage ban lift. anyways, i'm so happy. that's one of the reasons that i want clinton in office, but i'm almost certain that obama is gonna win. a lot of people just want him cuz he's always been the popular vote. anyways, i dunno if the whole country will finally start accepting same-sex love. but it's a step closer.

I still think it is dumb that same-sex marriages are not recognized for the simple fact the christian religion supposedly says it is wrong. The Bible also says not to judge other people, and warns against organized religion. But do people listen to those two things? NO!
So why shouldn't same-sex couples be allowed to get married? If a man is going to go to hell for marrying another man, he's going to hell anyway for loving another man. Their marriage is not affecting anybody else. Yes, the same goes for women.
And Congratulations for Ellen getting married.

lollipop_dresses The Bible also says not to judge other people, and warns against organized religion. But do people listen to those two things? NO! Lol. So true. I don't believe everything the bible says, but I think it has some good messages...like this one.
