For those of you that are fans of the musical, what did you like more, the instrumental music, or the singing? For me, it was the instrumental music.

What drives me to like one Musical over the other isn't the instramental or singing, but the lyrics and plot. Phantom just happens to have all 4.

Well, sometimes theres music where the singing is terrible but you really enjoy the music so you listen to it anyway; and sometimes it the complete opposite. But I think the music and singing in Phantom are both brought together beautifully.

Hm, I believe I like the Symphony better. 3nodding But I agree with Scully. Phantom has all of the greatest story elements which makes it the best. heart

I for one side with the soft and sometimes dynamtics of their own voices. Sarah Brightman really gave the illusion as the chandilar fell. However everyone has their own opion..

I thing the singing is really awesome, but I agree it just wouldn't be the same without the music to back it up 3nodding

I like both the singing and the intrumental - it's just not the same without both, although my fav. is the overture. . .

the phantom is a close to perfect as any being can be....

but yes I am a music nutcase... so, I enjoy the interementals more then the vocals. The passion of the insterments drive the seduction forward with a thrust in all the right points. The music helps complete the movie...
music is a passion of mine.. probably why I've been musically on either the piano or clarinet since I was like 8 o_o; I don't do the piano anymore, not a teacher near by crying

I play the clarinet.. And I'm going to take piano lessons...But I also want to play the violin. I've wanted to play the violin since I was four. crying I hope I get to.

Music or singing? That's a tough choice.
Personally, I like things that are powerful and dramatic. Phantom of the Opera just happens to have that in both the singing and instrumental music. So, I guess... I can't choose between the two. gonk

i really liked it all. they picked wonderful singers for the whole thing. they were all very good, in my opinion. but the full orchestration of all of the instrumental music was just breath taking. i was hoping that for the movie ALW would fully orchestrate and not just have the pit band playing for the movie so it was amazing to hear a great full orchestra playing and the addition of the Guitars and stuff not to mention the 15 minutes of new musical material that ALW wrote for the movie. it was amazing and more often do you hear all the underlying themes come out in the full orchestration. the masqurade theme appears more now than it did and if you listen really closely you can pick it out in some great minor keys! love it!!!

ok...i am way to much of a music nerd to have analysed the music this much
