 Gurzal put the salmon in his sack and packed up. With a sigh, he picked up a muddy Cernunnos and moved to pick up Celine. "Bath time for the two of you. I don't care how much you two scream and cry; you're both getting baths. Cernunnos wailed and kicked out his legs in frustration. "Don't wanna! No! No bath!"

 Celine scooped up two large handfuls of mud in her hands, and waited patiently for Gurzal to pick her up. She might not be able to get out of taking a bath, but she could still make Gurzal regret giving her one.

Gurzal scooped up Celine and galloped his fastest to a special spring.
Cernunnos continued kicking and screaming.

Celine took advantage of her new position to smear the mud on Gurzal's chest. She still had a bit left over on her hands, so she tried to wipe it on Cernunnos' face. Finding that he was too far away, she started to kick and scream as well. "NO! No bath! Bath bad!"

Gurzal finally arrived and carried them in deep enough that they wouldn't drown. He then put them down in the water and began dunking them carefully in the cool water to get the mud off.
Cernunnos kicked and screamed all the while. "No! Don't wanna! No! Stop! Bath bad!"

"No!" Celine cried, and kicked and squirmed about, doing her best to get free. "No, don't wanna!" The water, she soon realized, wasn't that bad, kind of cool, but she still didn't enjoy getting dunked in. The first chance she got, she was going to make a break for it and run for the land. The only trick was to get free... "NO," she screamed as loudly as she could and tried to twist out of Gurzal's grasp.

Gurzal gripped harder. "No, stop squirming, Celine. You need this bath." He lifted the two cervitaurs and looked at them critically before setting them both down in the water. "There. You're clean. Don't get dirty again, or I'll give you another bath. I'm going to go cook dinner." With a final glance to make sure they were behaving, he made his way back to shore and started cooking dinner.
Cernunnos stopped kicking and screaming when the bath ended and looked around warily. Celine didn't seem to be making trouble yet, and just to be careful, he made his way to the shallows and settled down onto his belly. The water was nice, but baths weren't. Finding some sticks and leaves, he started making himself some little boats and floating them in the water, trying to keep them out of Celine's reach, lest she decide they were a wonderful toy when combined with Cernunnos.

Celine followed Cernunnos, although she no longer thought of him as her toy. Just... a plaything. Someone to play with. She pulled some leaves off a bush near the shallows and trotted back into the water, where she tried to make them float. She had crumpled them up in her hand, however, when she pulled them off, so most of them sank. Disappointed, but not discouraged, she went back for some more leaves, and picked bigger ones this time. This time she didn't go back into the water - she remembered the much hated bath all to well - and simply set them afloat from the bank.

Gurzal watched the twosome out of the corner of his eye with a calm smile, out of earshot of casual conversation, but within earshot of yells. He turned the fish over to cook the other side.
Cernunnos ignored Celine's boats and began experimenting with walking deeper into the pool with his boats, until he was submerged to his waist. This was a good place to play with his boats. He herded them to where he wanted them and started a battle between the two groups. A great deal of splashing was involved, but he tried to be careful to not splash Celine, though a few water droplets did escape his notice and short reach.

Celine waded over to where Cernunnos was playing, bringing some of her boats along with her. Ignoring his splashing, she dropped her boats near his, and shoved them from behind so that they could go attack his fleet. "Watch out," she warned, "my fleet is bigger." She slunk down in the water so that only her head showed and waited for his reaction.

Gulzar finally finished the fish and set them aside so he could finish preparing dinner.
Cernunnos waded away from Celine's boats and continued his private little naval battle, ignoring her as much as possible.

Duly annoyed that Cernunnos was ignoring her, Celine ducked her head under and splashed him. Not quite willing to hang out much longer after that, she ran out of the water to go check on Gulzar and see how the fish were coming along. It had been a long day and she was very hungry.

"CELIIIINE!!!" Cernunnos screamed in frustration. He stared in despair at his boats, which had been sunk by the splashing. Sighing, he got out of the water and settled down on a nearby log to sulk.
Gulzar was still cooking dinner when he heard Cernunnos' cry and Celine came out of the water. He sighed irritably, and asked gently, "What have you done to upset him, Celine?" These two cervitaurs needed a mother sooner or later, especially Celine.

"Nothing," Celine said innocently, and sat down on the grass to watch Gulzar cook. "How long until dinner's ready?" she asked. "It's fish, right? I like fish. Fish are good."

Gulzar sighed. Someday VERY soon, Celine should have a mother figure to look after her, to keep her out of poor Cernunnos' hair. "Dinner will be ready in half an hour, if I'm not interrupted. It's fish, fruit, and some other food I gathered earlier." He inhaled deeply and sighed blissfully. "Doesn't it smell good?"
Cernunnos finally came out of his sulk and gravitated toward the smell of dinner. "It smells really good," he said quietly.
(OoC: I can smell barbecue or something good from my room right now, and it's kinda starting to drive me nuts.)
