I don't know. I've been around Gaia since last August, and I've tried to debate abortion and my stance as hard as I can. I've heard all the arguments, all the counter-arguments, all the insults, and I've fought all of them back. I've thought I could be as strident and persistent as those who hate pro-life. But I'm having a hard time keeping my motivation.

It's getting harder to care anymore. I guess if this issue felt more like people debating people instead of talking heads from each side bickering, I'd still have some steam left.

It just seems like willful ignorance from most of the debaters of pro choice, and unabashed partisanship from Gaia. I'm just tired of having to insulted and banned and keep having to defend myself because I'm conservative: I don't agree with abortion. I don't agree with gay marriage. I don't agree with comprehensive sex ed over abstinence-only programs. I don't agree that religion is bad and the cause of most of the world's problems. I don't hate those who feel differently, but it's increasingly obvious I'm the bad guy for feeling the way I do. It's annoying, and it's unfair.

I'd hate to come off whiny, because I hate coming off weak. But I'm just tired of all this bullshit that comes along with being outspoken. If I felt like it was warranted, I'd take it in stride. I wont even deny that I haven't asked for some it in some ways. But it's getting to be a bit much now.

I don't know. Maybe I'm just tired.

Let's face it, it's quite hard to be a Pro-Lifer on Gaia willing to debate in the Forums. There are a whole lot of Pro-Choicers who seem to debate pretty constantly, and some of them seem to say the same things again and again.

Just about everyone in this Guild at some point has despaired of debating about abortion in the forums. So don't feel alone.

As for the other topics you debate on the less popular side, I'll say that (while I don't agree with you on such topics) it must have been very difficult to feel "ganged up on" so often, simply because so many other people on this forum believe differently from you.

I must say that, having lasted as long as you did, you get mad props from me!

Don't feel bad, you're doing more them some of us (I stopped debating in the ED forum long agi. In fact you can't even all those threads a debate thread anymore).

Now I don't agree with you on everything else but I understand what it's like to feel ganged up on.

I'm sorry to say that the intensity and ferocity of the abortion debate startled me, because people have claws, and it's hard to deal with sometimes, but you need to fight with logic the best you can.

I feel like the harder I fight to get a couple of them to respect me through understanding my point of view, the more success I'll have in doing this in other social situations.

Because it's all about presenting our side in a way that they can see-- with clear eyes, what it's all about for me, and what I believe, and why. They need to see that, or they won't respect us.

Hard to take, I know. But listen, when I make some of them understand that for me, it's about compassion, not oppression; It's about preservation, not condemnation; I feel vindicated. At least a little bit.

I just want people to be happy and be able to live their lives, and that's all I've ever wanted. But people don't want to stomach what we have to say sometimes, and I think I've finally decided that I'm fine with not being liked sometimes for this part of me. At least on Gaia, because Gaia is Gaia.

You know what I mean?

I actually have considered writing a Self Help book that contains the suggestion:

"Have you tried smoking Some/More/Less/No Cannabis?"

But if it's illegal, wouldn't that cause more stress if you get into trouble? Smoking doesn't seem to good for you.

It's illegal for idiotic reasons. I've never done it, but quite honestly I plan to grow some in my home when I get a house of my own. And yes, the smoking part seems unhealthy, so I'll probably use it to eat, to add it to the classics, such as brownies, or try to make juice out of it. I also plan on an alchemy lab- Real alchemy, not fancy circles magically turning a table into a phone or something, but mixing random chemicals and such, so experimenting with stuff like that could be fun and enlightening.

Well, if one is careful, there is practically no danger of getting caught.

Careful meaning, only use in private homes, around people one trusts, and only purchase from people one trusts absolutely.

But, in a few States, medical cannabis is legal. I know that in California it is legal for treatment of depression, among other diseases.

Laughing also is very helpful for treatment of stress. Going to a comedy club is a very good idea for people feeling down, as is hanging out and talking with good friends (people tend to laugh around their friends when all are telling stories about one's resent life). Step two can be: Laugh!

Yes laughing is good for stress and healing. I was watching this movie called the secret and this (this is supposed to be a true story) woman had breast cancer so in order to help with the stress she would only watch comedies and after three months she said it went away, even without the use of chemo. Even if it wasn't true, I still like to believe that it's possible.

It help can also help in awkward and embarrassing situations too (I guess that's why they tell you to laugh at yourself).
