Chaos was on the prowl again. He didn't know where he was, as it wasn't a place that he thought he had been. Near a small river, the lush green grass slowly fading out to a yellow as it grew away from the river. It was more quiet than what he was used to, but that was fine. Hopefully soon it wouldn't be too quiet, and he would be the source for that.

The black and red god slowed his pace, the black fire illusion swirling around his paws. His snake-slitted eyes looked out past where he was, trying to see if there was anyone to play with. Play could be taken in many different ways, but to Dathcharu'kai, everything was a play toy. Everything was fun. Sure, maybe not for the other half of his little 'games', but he enjoyed it, and that was what mattered to him.

"Cursed sun," he grumbled, hating how the heat always cooked up his backside, especially his wings. He needed to find some sort of shade, if only to hide from the hottest part of the day.

Had it only been a couple of days since she'd come to this place, Kalawai wondered sleepily as she snuggled closer to Majoka's side. Nose twitching as his mane tickled, she finally sighed and opened her eyes. The soft gurlgle of the river called to her and she wanted a drink. Casting an eye up, she decided that today was going to be a bit too warm for her liking. Still, she and Najoka had a nice, shady little hiding place where they could stay as they caught up on each other's lives. Now, she thought, time for that drink.

Majoka's feet twitched and scurried as eh chased dream hares. Dimly, he was aware that Kalawai's small, comforting form had moved away and he woke with a start. Looking around wildly, he saw her standing a little ways off. Yawning, he chuckled and moved to stretch.

"G'morning, Kala," he murmured sleepily. "Is it time to get up already?"

"Hmmmm." He felt a bit of a shift, and looked around again. It wouldn't be good to write this area off if he couldn't find anyone to mess with right off the bat. His eyes looked again, and he finally saw some sort of movement. Grand. Hopefully it wasn't some stupid hare or something, he didn't want to deal with the small fry today.

He dropped his head and slowed his pace to a lazy walk as he walked towards where he thought he had seen the movement. If he was wrong, he'd have an area to get out of the direct sun, anyway. That would be at least somewhat worth it.

His ears perked up as he thought her heard a voice. If there was a voice, then there were probably two, unless it was a crazy that talked to itself. That would be even better than finding one poor lonely soul out here.

"More than time to get up," Kala replied with mock-sterness. "Lazy fluffball."

Chuckling, she paced towards him and nudged his shoulder with her nose. Funny, she thought, I never would have expected him to reach full growth before me. Why, I thought he was younger than me.

"Come on, 'Joka," she continued coaxingly. "We can get a drink and have a splash about in the river. And it'll be safe for you, 'cause I'll be there."

Flipping her wings back proudly, Kalawai groomed a paw as she waited for Majoka to get up.

Rolling to his feet, Majoka yawned hugely and gently butted his head against Kala's. Oh, it was good to have his friend with him again! He knew she'd have to leave again, but it wouldn't hurt so much this time.

Once he was certain that he'd stretched out all the kinks, he grinned and bowed his head.

"I'm ready when you are, Kala. And if you tell me the river's safe, I will believe you with my whole heart."

More movement. This drove the red god to keep still, just in case they hadn't noticed him yet. Sure, he was still a bit off, but it wasn't like he blended in well with the land around him.

Two. So one of his guesses was correct. It was still hard to tell exactly what he was looking at, but it wasn't hard to see that it was two different forms. The difficultly of what to do next was playing out in his mind. Should he approach, or let them go, and spring up on them? He had done so much pouncing lately, but sometimes it was so fun.

So for this next moment, he waited as patiently as he could for their next step. Then he'd decide exactly what to do.

Smiling at Majoka's last sally, Kalawai simply parted the overgrowth with an outswept wing and waited for him to pas through while she followed. Once out of their little shelter, she bounded to his side and bumped a wing against him affectionately.

Laughter rumbling in his chest as Kalawai's antics, Majoka simply shook his head and continued towards the river. This was going to be a spectacular day, he just knew it.

Yes. There they were. They were walking towards that river, so he presumed that they were at least going to pause to drink. That would give him enough time to surprise them. And with surprise would always come shock, the freezing moment where Dath would have complete control over them before they recovered from that shock. Oooh, mortals were much too fun with their predictable reactions to things.

He would wait until they were at the edge of the water before approaching much closer, but for now he cloaked himself in a very small, tan colour, inching his way closer while doing his best to not attract any attention.

He was grooming this for the right moment, and he could barely contain his excitement. What a cub.

Feeling a need to stretch out her wings slightly, Kalawai leapt intot he air, pumping her wings steadily until she was hovering a few feet above Majoka. Feeling a bit of mischief creep into her soul, she flicked her tail about, managing to bat the red and gold male in the face with her tail tip. Laughing as he batted at her, she whapped him again before fleeing to the river and landing amidst the gurgling water.

"Is that the best you can do, 'Joka?" she teased.

Swiping absently at Kalawai's tail, Majoka kept up a serene frotn as he plotted a revenge of sorts for her teasing. He'd wait until she was off guard, then pounce. He'd get wet and spend hours drying off, but the playtime would be worth it. If nothing else, his lonely wanderings had taught him patience and how to think before he moved.

"For shame, Kala," he tsked, "If you're going to fly and beat me with your tail, at least give me some warning to even up the odds."

Perfect. They were actually in the water, which was more than he had guessed, but they were fully distracted. They wouldn't notice him until he would be there, nearly on top of them.

He dropped his facade, his pace quickening to get to the end of the water without too much lag. He slowed as he got nearer, wanting to look like he had just stumbled across them and hadn't been watching them for a short while.

That was when he noticed that one of them was a god. Why...would a god be wrestling around in the water with a mortal? The thought mildly humored him, in all actuality, but it still seemed...weird. He only thought this way to others, not even thinking about his thoughts of Laana that invaded his mind every once in a while.

"My, my, my...." he said softly.

"And why woul I want to give you any warnings?" Kalawai laughed, scooping a wing through the water to splash him. After a moment, she bent her head to drink. When she raised her head again, she saw another lion not too far off. Sighing, she quickly cloaked herself in illusion. She didn't feel like answering questions or dealing with the noise that the sight of a god would cause.

"I think we have company, 'Joka"

Majoka left off plotting a watery revenge at Kalawai's soft warning. Looking up from where he stood in the water, he saw the other and shrugged.

"Can't be helped. I'm sure he'll go away again once he's had his drink."

The God, who didn't bother to hide himself at all this time around, padded up to the very edge of the river, his black toes dancing on the edge to where the water rushed below. He flexed them for a moment, keeping himself in check. He'd have his fun, he just needed to be patient.

"So you hide as soon as I appear? Quite selfish, isn't it?" he said with a humerous tone. A sly grin grew on his face as he looked from the green goddess to the red lion. A male, and an adult. That one might turn into a little bit of trouble...

Nothing he couldn't handle, of course.

Blinking a bit in confusion, Kalawai removed the illusion and mantled her wings slightly in agitation.

"Well, how was I to know you had wings too?" she asked reasonably. "I was simply being careful."

She turned her eyes down to the water. SOmethign about the strange red god worried her. And the sly grin on his face didn't help.

Majoka relaxed a bit. Well, if this stranger was another like Kala, he didn't need to worry so much! Maybe he was someone she'd met when she was off learning. Still, she seemed uncomfortable, so he casually moved between her and the stranger.

Dath kept up his grin, quite pleased with himself still. "My mistake, I didn't know." Easy enough to lie, as long as he kept up his smile, right? "I was merely passing through, looking to pass the time. Is that so wrong?" He thought it was funny that she had cloaked herself so quickly. She was out in the open, surely others would see her wings before she noticed them? She should always carry an illusion if she was ashamed.

He noticed that the male inserted himself between the two of them. So, he really was going to be a problem, was he? "Interesting company you keep, I see." He was hoping that the red male would get hostile. If he attacked first, then it couldn't be Dath's fault, right? Right.

"He's my best friend and better company than anyone else," Kalawai replied defensively. Who did this god think he was anyway? Glaring at him, she moved closer to Majoka. For a brief moment, she'd been curious about this god. Now she just wanted him to go away.

For his part, Majoka was keeping very quiet. The god hadn't really done or said anythign wrong, but the way he said what he did made the young lion think that he wanted to find a fight. And given how much bigger the god was, Majoka wasn't about to give him what he wanted.

Instead, he kept his voice as mild and humble as was possible.

"I'm very lucky that Kala feels I am worth being friends with. She's been a great friend to me ever since we were small."

"Awww, how sweet. So what will you two do when he grows old while you stay young forever?" Bitterness rose up in his voice. He hadn't noticed it, but it was one reason as to why he hated it when mortals and gods mixed. Even if you liked them, they would just die on you one day, and then everything would be gone. Everything.

"Did you ever think that far?" No one ever did. Not even himself. But this wasn't about him, not directly. He was just looking for a little bit of fun.
