"I wanna thee the monkieth and the rhinoth and...and...the theebrath! Cauth they're like Thee!" Reese was all excited. His first trip to the zoo, something he'd only seen in books that Poppa or Wilbur would read to him. He had a whole list of all the animals he wanted to visit.

Behind him, the butler Wilbur chuckled as he pushed the seahorse child along in his wheelchair. "What about the seahorses, Young Sir?" he encouraged lightly, knowing exactly the answer he'd get.

Reese turned around in his chair, appearing a little indignant. "Duh! Thothe are my favorite!" The look was gone, however, quickly replaced with Reese's classic smile as he turned back around in his chair and proceeded to bounce himself in his seat.

"PIE! MOVE!"

Max could scarcely begin to hide the excitement overtaking him. It was another day, another adventure - and what made it all the more sweet was the exploration of the great outdoors. The shimmering sun shone down to provide him a sense of glory and happiness. The sky above was blue, dappled with white clouds. The air was sweet, littered with the taste of late spring and the coming of summer. To make the matter even more pleasant, they were seeing things that proved rather interesting. There were no stuffy old books or rocks to gawk at. Animals. Creatures. Living creatures! It was a beautiful thing, and the young boy could only bounce from foot to foot as he moved through the crowds.

"C'monmonmon!" The young otter had howled. His pool rings had clattered as his tail beat the ground. He had stopped a moment to give a forceful whack, as if he were a beaver demanding attention. "Gotta gogogogo!" - and with that he had began his running again. Now and again he had stumbled, using his arms to catch and propel himself forward rather than falling flat on his face.

"Maximilian James York!" Kenneth had cried, leaning somewhat to peek around the crowds as he walked. His arms had swayed as he began to jog, grumbling at the forced exercise. He had been hoping for a peaceful day, but, of course, it was simply too much to ask for. Of all children - why wouldn't his sit still for five seconds? "Max - stop, right now!" He had breathed, fixing his glasses as they tumbled against his face. "Or we'll turn around an---" He had come to a stop, panting for breath. Certainly out of shape.

Max had turned to walk backwards. His arms had folded across his chest, and his fingers had picked at the vest he had been forced to put on earlier that morning. No shirt, no outdoors - that was the bargain Kenneth had began to pursue, and naturally Max was apt to oblige somewhat if it meant freedom from the house.

"But you're slow!" He had protested as he strode, his head lolling to the left and his hair whooshing with the motion. As he had strove to turn, he had caught himself on his own feet - and before he knew it he had fallen flat on his back next to what had appeared a wheelchair. "Owwww...."

Always falling. Always falling. He truly needed to work on his balance.

"Thop!" Reese shouted suddenly as something whooshed past his side - not like he needed to, Wilbur had seen the other child stumble too - cringing when he felt, not just heard, the thud of a body hitting the ground. He was quick to lean over the side of his wheelchair, peering down intently at the long and fuzzy thing that was now on its back beside him.

"Ith he ok?" Reese asked as Wilbur knelt down beside the otter boy. He was more than worried, his large eyes wide and curious as he looked over the arm of his chair, shifting uncomfortably and anxiously. He hoped the other boy was ok...that musta hurt something awful.

"Well let's get you up off the ground, Young man," the stately gentleman said as he helped Max up. "You took quite a tumble." Keen eyes checking him over for scrapes or bruises or...well, you know, a concussion? It looked like he fell pretty hard.

"You ok?" Reese asked again, this time to Max, brows knitting together. Please be ok, please be ok.

Max had recoiled somewhat. The impact with the ground truly had heart him, and there was no denial that he may have gotten up with scraped limbs were it not for his fuzzy figure. He did not acknowledge it, nor feel a twinge of respectfulness regarding it. It was just a universally accepted fact that he did not scrape himself, nor injure himself terribly during his energetic bursts. Soreness was inevitable, but true pain ... Well, one could suppose he was rather fortunate.

Thus he had only given a few low groans and moans, rolling on the ground and looking up as a stranger had knelt down near him. Suddenly he had lost interest in the soreness. His eyes had grown wide, and he had stared in a peculiar manner ... As if for the first time he truly felt embarrassed. Yet, the man had helped him up. The man had asked how he was, and that had soon put the young otter at ease. He had given a coy grin as he tossed his arms up behind his head.

"T-t-thank you, mister!" He had chirped in a stutter; then he had paused. His face had grown long, his whiskers had twitched at the comment of his tumble. "Uhm..."

Another set of words, and a new voice had entered his mind. Was he okay? Curiously, he had whipped his head to look at the wheel chair, only to find Reese there. For a moment he had stared, but the ease and smile had returned to his face as he boldly nodded his head. "I'm jus' fine! I fall like that all the time." He had frozen again, as if realizing the statement were not positive. "On accident. My feet are funny to walk on; I like to slide, but it's hard to slide outside unless it's wet!" He had clarified.

"Max!" Kenneth had huffed as he broke through the crowd. He had slowed to a walk after spotting the boy, noticing he appeared occupied and halted. A great sigh of relief had been given as he rubbed his eyes, pulling his glasses away from his face. He needed to catch his breath - and he did just that as he strode forward.

"I-I'm ... So ... Sorry." He had heaved, returning his glasses to his face. "Max, what have I told you about trouble?"

Max had only stared a moment, wriggling his whiskers distastefully before returning to Reese and Wilbur, who had managed to conjure his interests. They were new, looked different ... And they certainly spoke nicely.
