Just curious on what everyone thinks happens after death. I know the wiccan religon says we are born again to learn lessons until our soul achives perfection then after the last lesson is learned we leave the summerlands (the place our souls go to rest for a while) and our united with the lord and the lady and are made one with them and the universal cosmos.

I strongly believe that when we die that its just our shells that cease to live. Something our souls shed to be free and in doing so helps the earth and allows our souls to travel around and haunt..live in limbo...or pass on.

I have no reason to believe that there is anything in death beyond the cessation of my mental faculties.

Carl Sagan said it well:

I would love to believe that when I die I will live again, that some thinking, feeling, remembering part of me will continue. But much as I want to believe that, and despite the ancient and worldwide cultural traditions that assert an afterlife, I know of nothing to suggest that it is more than wishful thinking.

I believe there is a sacred place called "Summerland". In this place, there is peace and harmony, among other things. Here in Summerland, you become your "past lives". Most of you know what that is, but if you do not, it's the living creature/animal you were before the life you had just lived, and many on before that. You remember everything; where you lived, who you were, what you experienced, and what you had become throughout that lifetime. Then, your are "Reincarnated", or reborn into a new [or the same] dimension as another [or again, the same] living and existing creature in this universe. Who else knows what is out there? I would certainly love to know.

Sometimes i wonder about my past lives...and things like deja vu...and if we were animals which ones you know?

Or if its just something in our heads that we make up...but ive heard too many stories where weird things happen and things people shouldnt know they do..

I don'tmean to offend any one by posting this but according to most B.O.S.
we of the wiccan religion can't be reincarnated as animals. Humans can be reincarnated as either male or female but animals will stay animals and humans will stay humans. However humans have an animalya or an animal that we are very similar to. For example my animalya is a wolf and I have a friend who is a bear. ounce again I mean no offense in posting this.

i am no sure where we go, but im a deist so i'll say this... i do believe in A God, the Lord, but i'm not sure if where we go is heaven, or something else that may shock you. ya see, scientists found what seemed to be a galaxy a few monthes ago that had no visible planets or stars in it and looked like the shape of an eye. that may be one, OR, one that makes more sense lol would be that fat that the universe is everexpanding, BUT, there is a stopping point at the universe even as it continues to grow. it may be that our souls possibly go somewhere outside of the universe, maybe, maybe not!! razz smile

How would the dubious attribute of "appears once every 3,000,000 years" even be determined, anyway?

No means of arguing, but remember, we can be reborn into our familiars [almost like an animalya], an animal creature that stays with us during our lives. And there might be more species and things out there in different dimensions, we could be reborn into those places after death. I am Wiccan and I do believe I can be reincarnated as anything else that is living... even a tree or a rose.

you have a really good point. it might have been 300000 years but either way how could they detemine that.

i beleive that what you believe is true for you and all others of your opinion. if you believe in heaven and hell, then when you die you go to one of the two. maybe allesium, summerland, or vallhala(hope i spelled that right). its your beliefs that dictate your fate, no one elses. personaly i find it hard to believe that we just cease to exist, i think allesium would be nice although i hear it can be quite boring.

I believe that when a person dies they are reincarnated so that they can continue their spiritual growth. However, if the person became enlightened, their energy escapes the cycle of rebirth and joins with the universal. Reincarnation is interesting in Buddhism because many people believe that your actions during your current life determines what you are reborn as. A human body is viewed as a gift because it is intelligent and therefore an easier vehicle to gain with which to gain enlightenment. However, some Buddhists think that your energy simply diffuses into the environment in a more general way and becomes a part of everything. I have to admit that I like the idea of an ongoing spiritual journey more.
