Got this in my email today!

Quote:
Dear Giselle,

Help ensure that sexual assault victims have access to comprehensive medical treatment. Email your State Representative TODAY!

On Wednesday, State Representative Dan Stewart will formally introduce a bill that would ensure that sexual assault victims have access to emergency contraception and preventative treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STI) in Ohio emergency rooms. This bill (Compassionate Assistance for Rape Emergencies) is critical for the treatment of sexual assault survivors in our state.

Please email your State Representative today and urge him or her to sign on as a co-sponsor of this important legislation.

Rape victims in Ohio deserve access to comprehensive medical treatment in the hospital emergency room. NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio's survey of hospital emergency rooms last year showed that 17% of hospitals who participated in the survey do not guarantee access to emergency contraception (also known as the “morning-after” pill) to all sexual assault victims. Victims of sexual assault should have access to the highest standard of care, regardless of what hospital they go to.

Please email your representative today and help us take the first step towards ensuring comprehensive and compassionate care for sexual assault survivors in our state.

Sincerely,
Jaime Miracle
Outreach and Field Director

For once our state is going to do something to help people! I've read articles about places all over the United States about emergency rooms and regular doctor visits denying help to rape victims especially those who might be drunk or tipsy.

I hope this goes through. There were 3 rapes last year at the college I will be going to. The college never reports them, even when my mom went there, she said the college security keeps things hushed up. Really I think we need to do more to help women and men understand they need to come forward if there was a rape.

Agreed, I really also hope this passes and am emailing my rep, I'll likely be passing this on to my friends as well.

I'll pass it along to my fellow Ohioans as well.

Random note: Jamie Miracle? If I were pro-life and anti-contraception I'd totally make an immature joke right now. Something along the lines of: "With a name like Miracle you'd think she (he?) would have more appreciation for the miracle of human life!!!" >_-
