AIM LOG: DragonsRage24 & iPao v2 A lone cub lazed beneath the canopy of the large tree nearby his father's favorite watering hole. He had managed to doze off, more or less, while his father lectured him about controlling himself while playing with his younger brothers and sisters. He'd heard it all before, after all, and it never changed. Suffice it to say, his father would be even more upset with him once he found his way back home. So...he'd stay away until someone came looking for him.
He stretched himself out now, yawning lazily before getting up to get a drink. He found the Pridelands very boring...he hardly ever saw any other cubs, and the ones he did see he didn't get along with, or didn't like very much, etc. You could say he was picky... "Pfft, picky.." he said as the thought crossed his mind. "I'm not picky. It's just that none of them are good enough.."How dare he, how dare he go out on his own and leave her alone, her, his sister, his other side. She frowned to herself as she weaved her small body through the grassblades, she ha luckily gotten away from Ryujin, such a pest so happy all the time, never wanting to do anything of use, always play play play, no play with reason, reason was what was missing. Her dreams and visions that her powers brought her were confusing, and tore her apart in her sleep, adn she often felt exhausted during the day. Though no, not Ka, he was fine, why was she the one being torn at did anyone care, did mother even care? The lokos he got from her own mother, the mark on her shoulder, humph. She frowned some more, sighed, and let her crimson eyes fall upon the ground as she moved forward, no one was good enough today, no one would suffice...why? What had she done to deserve being alone today...He had started to mumble to himself now, complaining about this and that. His siblings' inadequacies, in particular. They had never been very fun to play with, since after a little nibble on the ear, or a swipe at the face and they'd go crying to mommy or daddy. Pathetic wimps. He stared down his reflection against the surface of the water, golden staring coldly back at him. Maybe he was being too hard on them. It's not their fault they weren't born as good as him, he figured, so why waste his breath? There was no point trying to fix the unfixable anyway. And aside from that, they always gave him something to do...
"Whatever..." he started, "I'll find a way to make it work. I'm the big brother anyway, so it's my job to whip them into shape. Or at least, show them what they should be like." And he smiled down into the water. "Me."Some voice caught her attention, and her ears swiveled as she tried to pick up the sound, see where it was coming from. Was it her brother? h, how she hoped so, she wished it was him so she could show him a thing or two. Leave her behind, leave her alone with the happy pest, oh...it would so be on then. But no, this voice was different, though, still...brother..boy ish, was that a word, a thought? She shook her head, let her white toes touch the earth as she found herself going into a part of the pridelands she was not familiar with, but curiosity pulled her there...the pull from the back of her thoughts.
Why couldn't her own mother help her understand these thoughts and visions? What good was she...was anything...meh. She huffed to herself and found herself looking at a black pelt adorned with white and gold. She stopped tilted her head and quirked a brow. What was he doing? Staring contest with himself? She snerked...The rustling behind him caught his attention, and the cub turned around, neither alert nor worried he'd be attacked. He was too good to die this young, so why waste time worrying about it? His eyes landed on another cub, black and red and a touch of white. An unfamiliar cub, so he tilted his head in curiosity. She had a strange sort of expression on her face. An amused one, but why she had it was beyond him at the moment. He said nothing though, and instead stood and slowly made his way toward her, brow quirked.
"What're you looking at?" he finally asked. "And...why're you smiling?"

"What do you mean what I'm looking at? A dumb question don't you think? You're the one about and before my eyes..." she said matter of factly, though it was the strange pull in the back of her mind that was somewhat talking. She shook her head as if something was bothering her, something had stung her, eyes closed, but then she looked up again, watched him come towards her. She did not back away, back down, she stayed put, nothing to worry about...they were both cubs and...she could always complain to her mom long enough to go after him if she needed to, though..that would make her, Kai, seem weak. "A silly reason...nothing really important, what're you doing out here?" she asked tilting her head in question, wondering why he was coming so close to her anyway.
A small smile made its way to Ra's maw as he took a seat. Maybe, just by the way she spoke, this cub was good enough. Strong, but not mean...very straight forward. And she seemed to have a serious atmosphere about her. She wasn't anything like his siblings, nor like any other cubs he'd run into his whole life. She was...different. "True enough," he muttered, the smile fading. He saw that she was bothered by something almost as soon as she replied to his question, so it might be best if he backed off. They could hear each other, and that was good enough to make conversation. "I fell asleep and my dad left me," he answered, then shrugged. "I'm a big boy though, so that's why he figured it was alright to leave me out here alone." Ra almost sounded hurt, but again he shrugged it off and refocused his eyes on the other cub. "What about you? What're you doing all the way out here?"
"Huh...your dad sort of sounds like my mom...I don't have a dad though, so your dad compared to mine seems alright..." she said drawing in a breath, sitting back on her haunches watching him, crimson hues glinting in the sunlight. "wandering around I guess, my twin brother went somewhere, left me alone with the joyous pest..lost him a way back though, he probably went back home to mom or something...to play with her tail or pull on her wings or something..." Ryujin indeed was such a lover of life, adn always seemed happy. Though she, Kai, she had something else, she had another half in another body, Ka, thats right, in her eyes, they were indeed one. "My mom looks at me strange, I don't like it, so I leave during the day mostly, though...this is the first time I've found anyne else wander around...what's your name?" she asked curiosuly, hoping to break some tension in the air.
He smirked. "The joyous pest?" he asked when she paused a moment. "Boy, does he sounds like fun." Of course, he said it with as much sarcasm as one his age could actually possess. He listened as she continued her rather length response to his rather simple question, and when she finished he was already full of questions. Twin? Why'd he leave her? Did she do something wrong? Her mom had wings? And she looks at her strange..why? And several more.. Being the cub that he was though, he kept it all quiet, and instead busied himself with answering her question. "My name's Ra'D, but everyone just calls me Ra. The "D" part is pretty pointless, in my opinion. What's yours?"
Kai sat quietly while she watched him take it all in, darn, she shouldn't ahve said everything she had huh, going to chase the first outsider you meet away from you with your own stupidity, thats what her min told her. She curled ehr tail around herself, listened as his name soaked in, some flash of a figure, larger, older, and then it was gone, those eyes though, those eyes were there. WHat did it mean, another? Why... "My names Kai," she said with a slight nod. She wanted to know if he had the same plague of his mind, powers...or something, but..he didn't say his dad had wings or anything so..she guessed not. "Ryujin, the pest...he's just...its strange to describe him...and everyone else, even my cousins, they are strange, my aunt though, she lights the sky up for me sometimes in the night when I can't sleep," she said with a nod. To him,s he might sound insane, though she hoped not.

Kai. It was easy enough to remember, being just as short as his own name. For one so young he forgot things pretty easily, so he was glad the one possible real friend he'd run into had an easy name. "Kai, huh? Well, it's nice to meet you. And your brother sounds kinda...annoying, if you don't mind me saying that." And that was all he said about her family. It was hard to take it all in, after all, so it was best to just let it alone. If they met again, which he slightly hoped was likely, he'd ask then. But for the time being, he'd let it go. "So...your mom has wings?" ...Maybe not. Ra was the curious type, after all, so it wasn't entirely his fault that he sort of blurted out the question. Maybe it was a genetic sort of thing. His dad once told him that he was always poking his nose into people's business when he was younger.
"Nice to meet you too Ra," she said with a nod, a thing she did though she didn't know why. A slight smile was gripping at the corner of her maw, though it was hard for her to do. She remembered her aunt telling her for so many moons her mother could not even bring ehrself to smile, not even once. Huh, Kai was trying to remember if her mother had smiled at her yet...though she couldn't piece things together that well now, with her mind occupied here. ""Its alright, I tell him that al the time, but he shrugs it off...yea, my mom does, my aunt too, and my cousins...one of my sisters has wings on her pelt, but not...wings to fly like everyone else..." she laid in the grass then, rolled onto her back and looked up at the sky and pointed up, "Everyone in my family can get up there, can fly, 'cept me, my twin, ryujin, and my other sisters...its not fair..."
Ra figured it was alright, so he made his to a safe distance beside her and followed his suit, eyes now staring at the endless blue above him. The idea baffled him, actually. Lions being able to get up into the sky...with wings and the like. Maybe they had powers too...she did say her aunt made the sky light up, so it was a possibility. The cub let it sink as much as it could, then he sighed. "Yeah, but then...when is anything ever fair around here?" he asked. Ra always asked himself that question, actually. When is anything ever fair? He was the best of his litter, but he was always the one to get in trouble. He was the perfect son, but in the eyes of his parents the imperfect one. It seemed Kai's family seemed no different from his, but in its own strange way. So he actually felt like he could relate to her. Something he'd never be able to say about anybody else he'd met.
"Nothing is fair is for certain right away, nthing can be handed to you I supppose, you have to make things right for you, make your way into this world and make yourself known, " she said, a smile still pulling at the side of her jaw, and she sighed contently, she had never had a conversation like this with Ryujin, or anyone outside her family, she never had this feeling of ...security, was it? Never felt a feeling like she was not being judged by whoever else was present, this was just..nice. "Want to stay here Ra, for a bit?" she wondered, maybe he would..would be nice, just for a few minutes longer.
"Yup," he replied when she'd finished her very wise, very true statement. He nodded with a smile, eyes still staring up at the sky. "I'm definitely planning on making something of myself as I get older. There's no way I'm gonna sit by and watch my brothers and sister get ahead of me. Not like they could, anyway, but just in case they managed to do something right for themselves." And he stopped himself from going on with the rant. "Just...I wanna prove to my parents that I'm not as messed up as they think I am.." Then he quieted, and turned to look at Kai. "Sure, I'll stay," he answered. "It's nice to not be yelled at, so I'll stay a while longer."
"You will," she said simply, thinking of the flash of the large dark figure in her thoughts, the eyes were his, he would become something alright, but anything more specific then that, was still a mystery. "One day, my mom will see who I am, even if it is what she looks at with fear in her eyes, uncertainty, she'll see..." she smiled then, it swept across her maw as she watched the clouds pass by. He would stay, this was nice, perhaps everyone else was not like how her twin had said...make a difference, others, like ra, would make a difference.
