"Hrm...." Lying flat on the ground with his forelegs spread in from of him, Seyx was the picture of a careless foal. Nevermind that he pose was slightly awkward, it suited his purpose about as well as any other.
And that purpose? Watching an anthill, of course.
Resting his chin on one sprawled leg, Seyx watched as the ants industriously trotted in and out of the anthill, leaving empty-handed and coming back toting crumbs even larger than themselves. EVeryone seemed to be running, with no one just sitting there watching or, even worse, telling the others that they ought to calm down or slow down.
It must be fun to be an ant, Seyx reflected. You got to run around underground in tunnels with lots of running friends to play with, and you'd be superstrong! Not to mention if everyone looked the same then there'd be no reason for ONE ant to say that another ant was silly looking or that it was 'no fair' cause someone else has, say, butterfly wings. Plus, just think how cool it'd be to recognize everyone from the get-go by SMELL! He could recognize ome Soquili by smells, but he definitely wouldn't be able to know everyone (if they happened to look the same) by smell alone...
Pondering on these weighty mysteries, he turned away from his beloved anthill to address the Font of All Worldly Wisdom. "Mama, why am I ME and not a ant?"

Ghost was also laying on the ground as she watched her son, since she felt compelled to copy him in a sense! He looked so adorable, flopping back and forth upon the ground! She remembered how she used to do that as a child, and it brought back fond memories to her mind. Her son's question was most definitely amusing, and she could only laugh before standing up and walking over to what he was looking at. "You are you, because of your father and I! All of your siblings are! Is that ok?" Her smile was wide, and she nuzzled him at the top of his head. "Your are still unique though, even though you are from your father and I! You and all of your siblings. It amazing how that works."
Ghost was in wonderment, why ants!? They all looked the same, didn't they? But she supposed they'd be saying the same about her and her kids, wouldn't they? Her son brought up a good point, he was a smart little guy already! "Ants are unique, just like you!"
The mare then stepped back a bit, while lowering herself to the ground again. Taking care of all these children was exhausting, but it was a wonderful exhausting! She felt so alive, and the care she put into her children was totally worth it. Her body was the most tired though, and she rested while she could, since Seyx was stationary it seemed! "Mm, what else do you think, Seyx? Is the world as fun as you had hoped? I think its wonderful. I used to stare at the bugs too when I was your age, I'm sure with time you will find so many of them."

Such a very maternal answer....in other words, one that explained without explaining. Wrinkling his nose in a childish dismissal, Seyx gave his mother a stern 'huff' before shaking his head. "No, Mama, that's not IT!" Flopping over so that his anthill was temporarily to his back, Seyx wiggled closer to the mare that now stood over to him before hopping to his own feet. "See, LOGIC'Ly, I know you and Papa wouldn't have a baby ant, but I wanna know why I'm me in HERE." With that, he hit his chest with his small wings, looking up at his mother in dead seriousness. "Like...why am I me, the Soquili, instead of me the ant, huh?"
The idea that his questions were too much for his mother never occured to him; she was a good and proper mother after all, and he had confidence if he gave her enough time and patience she'd have an answer for him. But man, it was hard to be patient when she kept changing the subject and taking naps'n stuff!
As Ghost flopped down once again to rest, Seyx eyed her for a moment, wondering if this meant that he'd have to wait for an answer. When no answer came in the next nanosecond, he was POSITIVE it meant no answer would be immeadiately forthcoming, and like the good son he believed himself to be, he let it go. For now.
Dropping down beside her and cuddling up against Ghost's side, Seyx resigned himself to a bit of rest and relaxation. "Well, I think LOTSa things, Mama, cause there's lots to think about. Lotsa fun stuff, too, even if Shade'n Spook ARE weird about it." Then again, that was siblings for you!

Goodness, her son was something, wasn't he! Ghost blinked for a bit while Seyx snuggled himself against her, and she could only laugh lightly while trying to come up with an appropriate answer. His questions were somewhat complex, and she wasn't sure if he understood that entirely! "You know, I don't think I know that answer." she then admitted, while ruffling his mane gently. She patted him with her flutter wing as he moved, and sighed deeply while thinking about the question some more. "Maybe you just got lucky? I think I am lucky, because I was born me. And you are born you now, so that makes you very special and unique."
At her son's other words, she could only stare ahead in the distance with delight, since his answers were always so cute and perky. "I hope you continue to have fun and think about all sorts of things. I've always been a dreamer myself, so my mind is always going. What about you, Seyx. How are your hopes and dreams?" she looked at her son now, with a usual motherly smile. "I'd like to help you fulfill them in the future, and help you dream up some if you'd like."
Ghost may have been more spiritual in a sense, but she was very close nit to reality. Here she was, with six wonderful children, big and small. She had a perfect mate, filled with an even perfect family complex. But someday, all of her children would grow and mature, and they would create families of their own. This must have been what her own mother thought about at some point, and she gleamed while thinking about her own family experience. "Spook and Shade are something, aren't they?" she then admitted, while realizing how many sons she had in the family! "Make sure you are nice to your sisters, with so many boys around they will need support!" Ghost knew her own father would love that combination!

Well, that was a disapointment; mothers were NOT supposed to not have the answer. Still, Seyx could be charitable; after all, she was trying as hard as she could, and maybe she'd used up all of her answers when his older siblings were little. Maybe she'd had more kids before her answers had had a chance to grow back. That was the only reason that she'd had to resort to a cop-out.
Having thus reinforced his belief that his mother's 'all-knowingness' was infallible, he was able to listen to her waxing after-school drama with rapt attention, even though he wasn't sure that he exactly understood what she meant about being nice to his sisters. "I always am, Mama...but shouldn't we be nice to brothers, too? And how come they'd need support with so many boys, Mama? We don't try to tip them over!" Ever the literalist, the only kind of 'support' that Seyx really understood was the physical sense of the word, and he figured that Spook and Porsche ought to be good at keeping themselves upright. Silly Mama!
Then again, sometimes she could get REALLY silly. It was perplexing, but he tried his best!

"Of course you should be nice, to everyone Seyx! Its just that boys sometimes hang out with each other more for rough housing or games, and I wouldn't want your sisters being left out ya know." Ghost playfully shook her head at her son, since his words became more humorous by the second. His personality was so unique and exciting, and she wondered where he developed such a mind! In a way, Porsche and Seyx were very similar in how they composed themselves. That made her glad that she told Porsche to meet them in the general area just yesterday, since Porsche and Seyx were very similar in their energies. Ghost enjoyed the idea of her older children becoming involved in the lives of the younger siblings, since she was incredibly close with her own siblings as well.
"I've arranged it so that Porsche will arrive a bit later today. I was sort of surprising her with the idea that she gets to hang out with you, so how does that sound?" Well, even if Seyx didn't like the idea, Ghost would have made it so! "I think you and Porsche will get along very well, so trust in me, kay?" Whenever she talked to her children, she felt as if she was enacting herself as a filly. It was a nice habit of hers, and she bounced next to her son with a happy smile. She liked to have some individual time with each of her children, so she could know how everyone was feeling at all times.
She was already dreading the day when her newest children would grow older.. since that would mean her only watching them from a distance, rather then from close behind. "Try not to grow big on me anytime soon." she then giggled, while watching her son's eyes. "You all are too fun as kids, and I'd rather have you that way for myself!" Selfish, yes. With a good purpose, yes as well! Ghost already dealt with her children leaving once, and she dreaded the next time that they would leave her side once again. "Buuuut, when the time comes, I know you will be ready to be a fine adult!"

Silly Mama. Seyx did his best to try and follow her reasoning and explanations, but half the time it seemed like she was just teasing him. Luckily, he loved teasing too, so he had a healthy appreciation for his mama's efforts on the teasing front. As though girls COULDN'T be rough and tumbly, really! Mama was good at being rough and tumbly herself when he wanted to play, and SOMETIMES his siter could be...well, no. Actually, his sister was no fun when it came to wrestling and stuff, but that was ok. Hopefully his OTHER sister would be more fun.
Hearing his mother's plans for the day made him break out into a big grin all over again; he'd been hearing for a long time how much he and his BIG sister ought to get along, and she sounded fun. Kinda like Mama, only without all the 'sponsibility.
Bouncing up and down excitedly, Seyx gave his mother a nuzzle. "I think that it'll be fun, Mama; I like meeting new people, and Porshe is a new person AND a sister, so it oughta be fun!" Pausing for a moment in his excited bouncings, he cocked his head to one side, eyeing her curiosuly as she waxed maudlin about him growing up. Didn't foals HAVE to grow up, unless they died? And surely Mama didn't want him to die, that would be worse than him growing up! "You are silly, Mama."

Porsche was already out and about, and she figured she could meet up with her mother and brother as soon as possible since she very much wanted to see them. She tended to get way too excited when it came to family happenings, so there was no surprise to her early departure from her sleeping area. She bounced happily as she walked through the many forests and groves, but there was no sign of her strikingly pink mother to be found anywhere. Seyx also stood out on the landscape, but she couldn't see her brother's coloring upon the green either! "Oh boy, this might take awhile." she then said, as she moved herself into a swift trot. Hopefully she would find them at some point; but for now, she would keep a hefty look out for some pink soquili that she loved.
"I know I am silly." she then said, while giggling at her son. It made it easy for her to talk to her children, since she always found herself innocent and child-like as well. She could relate with any silly conversation, and that made her proud as a mother. But seriously, her children needed to stay small for a bit longer. Once they grew, she knew they'd be off on their own once again. But ah well, for now she needed to just enjoy herself, and she quickly had a thought that would soon cause a dilemma! "Hm, I never created a meeting spot for your sister and us. I wonder if that was a bad idea.." the mare then blinked slightly, and looked at her son with a goofy grin. "You're going to have to help me problem solve this situation, so what do you think we should do!"
Seyx could definitely do it, and Ghost shifted her eyes back and forth as she tried to think of a plan in her own mind. Porsche was most likely just as confused as her, and in a sense, that made her chuckle. Like daughter like spacey mother? She was rather unorganized it seemed, and Porsche would definitely scold her later for her lazy antics! "Oh my oh my, I hope Porsche finds us! Maybe we should move to an open area or something so she can see us.."

Ooh, so he got to help make a plan? THAT was something that he very much liked the sound of! Changing gears, Seyx stopped bouncing up and down and started to caper about in a circle around his mother, calling out possible plans with increasing pitch.
"Oh, what if we flew up into the sky and looked for her, Mama? I know that I can only fly a little bit and not TOO high off the ground, but in the air is always easier to see'n on the ground, right? OH! What if we called out her name real loud 'n said that we're here WHILE we're flyin'? Or else we could go running out to where she's comin' from, if you know where she's comin' from...hey, where IS she comin' from, Mama? Does she live very far away?"
Seyx had been rattling off ideas in almost one constant stream, but that last comment made him draw up short to the point that he ended up tripping over his own feet and tumbling head over heels into the ground. With typical foalish resiliance, though, he merely sat up, blinking at his mother owlishly. Where DID his older sister live? For that matter, what about his older brothers? Was it a terribly far ways away? Did they have to walk back all by themselves whenever they wanted to visit?

Ghost enjoyed her sons ideas, and she nodded her head playfully at ever proposition he made. He really was a bright boy, and she loved that about him. He was very energetic, so she knew he and Porsche would get along nicely too. "Well, I'm actually terrible at flying, but I suppose for the good of the cause I can try?" It was a good idea.. to shout for Porsche and such. But could they really find her? At this point, Ghost was hoping that Porsche would find them!
"Truthfully I'm not sure where Porsche lives, she is always moving just like her brothers." The situation was somewhat hilarious, since Seyx was being more mature and organized then his mother. But that wasn't a new scenario, Ghost was usually very messy when it came to her organizational ways. It always surprised her how Hesperos put up with it! He strangely found it as charming. "PORSCHE!?" she then yelled, while blinking to her son. "I wonder if that was too loud.."
Fate would have it that Porsche was already way ahead of her brother and mother's schemes, and she was zipping in the air and flying over trees to try and find her mother and brother. Since her brothers had helped her learn how to fly, she was very comfortable in the whole ordeal, and never had a problem carrying herself against the wind.
And as hilarious as it was, her mother's yell brought her right to where she needed to be. When she heard her name called, the mare quickly changed directions to see two pinkly figures on the grassy ground. Well good, she had found them! Once she was closer to her two family members, she made it so she could land safely, and make her way over to where they were standing. "I suppose I made it!" she then said, while somewhat out of breath.

Mama was just so silly sometimes, it was all that Seyx could do NOT tolaugh at her. A bad flier indeed, when she could flutter about just like a butterfly, up and down! He couldn't fly like that, not with his wings...though it might just be that he needed more practice. Practice makes perfect, and he wasn't perfect, so he MUST need more practice. Probably Mama was jut being nice and saying one of those nice things that parents sometimes said that they didn't mean but just liked to say to be nice? Mama and Papa did that sometimes, he was pretty sure, because how else could you explain something that just didn't make sense???
But rather than dwell on the details, he gave Ghost a bright grin. "Movin' around all the time sounds like it'd really make you tired, and then you'd have to nap a lot, and then you'd miss all that time you were nappin' that you could have done neater stuff. I don' think that I'll really move that much when I'm big, if'n it's all the same to you." This declaration was delivered with utter and total solemnity that was, perhaps, a bit comical on a foal of his size and age, but thinking about it, he was totally serious. Why waste the time moving about when he could just stay kinda where he was? Besides, that way he'd see Mama more and then she wouldn't have to be sad about not seeing him! Perfect idea.
Right up there with yelling to get Porsche's attention, if the results of Ghost's rather impressive yell were any indication. "Mama, Mama, look! Is that her? Is that her?"
At Porsche's arrival, gone once again was the still and somber foal, replaced once again with the little hyper one that ran around and under Ghost, chanting, "Issit? Issit her, Mama, is that Porsche? Huh, huh, huh???"

"Seyx, you are hilarious!" she then said, while laughing quietly at her son's words. "You should move when you are bigger, not all moving makes you tired!' Goodness, his personalty was absolutely adorable. She loved being with her son, he kept her completely amused all day. "If you choose to never move, then you'll become fat! Too much napping will make you super lazy, and you don't want that!"
Ghost was then beyond relieved to see Porsche, and she let out a deep sigh as her daughter approached. There was a reason she could always rely on Porsche, Porsche was much more capable in personality then her! She definitely got that trait from her father's side! "Yes hunny, that is her!" she then exclaimed to her son, while beaming at her daughter's arrival. "See, she looks just like your father but carries my wings." Porsche really was a blend of the two parents, and Seyx could relate in having his father's traits but looking like her!
"I'm so glad you found us, dear!' she then said, with a happy grin. "Porsche, this is Seyx, and Seyx, this is Porsche." Ha, she was brilliant at introductions.
Porsche shook her mane out once she had made it to her mother's and brother's standing, and she lowered her head to smile at her brother. He was seriously adorable, as she imagined! "Hi Seyx! I'm so thankful to meet you finally." And with that, she brought her eyes back to her mother's level, and nodded reassuringly at her words. "It was no problem getting here, I kinda figured I'd need to find you first. Call it instinct, I dunno." With a light shrug she only smiled before taking in one last huff of air. "So, what are you two up too?!" From the looks of things, they were probably just relaxing on the nice day. "I hope I wasn't interrupting something!"

"NO, Mama, I mean that if you always move you'll get tired and WANT to nap all the time, not that you would always nap if you AREN'T moving, an-HIIIIIIIII!" Breaking off in mid-correction, Seyx abandoned his mother to her ignorance as he capered over to the newly-arrived sister. Like so many foals, a long attention span wasn't in his cards; much as he loved his mother, the prospect of finally meeting his OLD sister was something more exciting than anything!
Undoubtably that excitement showed; even when he was trying to stand still, Seyx was quivering like a hummingbird. "We weren't doin' much, just talking about stuff. Mama knows a lot about stuff, doesn' she, Porsche? Not everything about everything, but I s'pose that no one knows all that, huh? Do you suppose that if'n someone did, they would have a HUUUUUUUUUGE head to hold all that knowing? Do you suppose that having a huge head would make them tip over?" By this point, Seyx had resumed his circling, running in a figure 8-ish pattern around his mother and sister as he excitedly continued to muse. Family was so inspiring, they made you think all SORTS of neat things!
"I bet that's why we can only know so much, so that we don't fall on our heads because of too much knowing! And what're we going to do today, huh Porshe? Mama says that you're going to be LOTS of fun, and I want to know what's going to be fun 'cause I like to know things, too, and cause my brain is almost as big as you and Mama's cause I'm still growing but am a boy so will prob'ly be bigger'n you and I DON'T know as much as you yet I can probably learn a lot more before I'd tip over!"
Having come to that conclusion, Seyx skittered to a halt between the two mares, flashing each an engaging grin. "So?"
Youthful energy, indeed!

Porsche was quite overwhelmed from her brother's words. The feeling wasn't negative, but Seyx was seriously full of an energy she had never seen! Was mother keeping him entertained at all? He looked like he wanted to burst! "Well well, where should I start lil' bro!" she then let out a playful laugh and nudged him on the top of his head. "I mean, I am not the know-all being either, but I do like to have fun. But that depends on some fun that YOU like. I still have to learn about you a bit. One can only hope to be as knowledgable as you say, but truthfully I wouldn't want my head to fall over like that!" That would just be... scary! And painful!
She then looked to her mother for support, and flapped her wings in a natural response. "You've set the expectation as very high, mom. I just hope I can keep Seyx entertained." There was some worriment in her voice, but that was only because she feared not keeping everyone happy. "I suppose we can always play a game, Seyx! Do you know any? Or do you need me to teach you some?" Her brother was so very cute, and Porsche was hoping to give him a good day of fun so he could remember her as the big sister he needed!
Ghost was seriously entertained with the whole family ordeal, and she just watched silently before shrugging somewhat to her daughter. "He knows what he wants, what can I say?" she then brought her delicate eyes on her son, and she saw a great resemblance in the two siblings. Porsche was just as energetic when she was that size, and Ghost already knew that the two of them would get along wonderfully.

Oh, so he got to have a say in what they did? Better and better, Seyx was liking this sister a LOT already, even more than Shade! Granted, they'd just met, so maybe it would turn out he wouldn't like her as much by later, but right now he was totally stoked. He really needed to tell Spook and Shade about this later, maybe they could all go out and play with all of their big siblings later if this went well. Mama liked it when they got along, and she was obviously having fun now with him and Porsche getting along, so she'd probably REALLY like it if all of them got along...
But now he was getting ahead of himself.
"Well, we can play tag or race, but I think that you might have a' unfair 'vantage when it comes to flying. I AM getting faster, but you've got more practice. An' you've got longer legs, so you might be able to run faster, so...how about we play a new game? I like new games, and I bet you know good new games." The grin that he gave his sister at that was huge and oveflowing with confidence; with Seyx, nothing was halfway or dissembled; if Porsche hadn't figured that out yet, she was in for quite the surprise!
