You have come to the Notebook of Keilyna and Zuri. Please do not post unless you have their permission.
About Fall Equinox The autumnal equinox (or fall equinox) marks the beginning of astronomical autumn. It occurs during the month of September in the Northern Hemisphere, and during March in the Southern Hemisphere. In Chinese culture it marks the middle of autumn. At the same moment that the autumnal equinox occurs in one hemisphere, it is the time of the vernal equinox in the other hemisphere. The Celestial Equator and the Ecliptic are two Great Circles. As such, they intersect at two points, the Equinoxes. When the Sun, which moves along the Ecliptic, occupies the point that crosses the Equator while heading south, it is the time of the Autumnal Equinox. Due to the Precession of the Equinoxes, the point of intersection moves completely around the sky in a 25,800-year cycle. Autumnal Equinox Day (Shūbun no hi) is an official national holiday in Japan, and is spent visiting family graves, and holding family reunions. In the UK Harvest festival falls around this time. The autumnal equinox is when the Wiccan Sabbat of Mabon is celebrated. Autumnal Equinox Day is also "New Year's Day" in the French Republican Calendar, which was in use from 1793 to 1805. The French First Republic was proclaimed and the French monarchy was abolished on September 21, 1792, making the following day, Autumnal Equinox Day that year, the first day of the "Republican Era" in France. This Fall Equinox egg was received by Keilyna on September 2nd, 2005.
Care of egg: Keep it cool until it hatches. It should hatch in 5-10 days. Update: Hatched September 14th!

Name: Zuri Meaning: Beautiful, pretty, splendid etc. in Swahili. As well as tasty and delicious and a few less-than-desirable things, but that is not why I chose that name for her! Gender: Wethkin have no gender... but I think of Zuri as being more feminine-ish, anyway. XD Current stage: Larvapuff Season: Autumn/Fall Species: Wethkin Loves: Fruitcake! Likes: All its Wethkin friends, getting its own way and stuffing itself with fruitcake. Also zooming about hyperactively and not listening to what Keilyna says. Dislikes: Any expanse of water large enough for a Wethkin to drown in, and Keilyna. Hobbies: Wandering about annonying people and eating fruitcake...? o_O

((OOC note: This stuff is all about Keilyna the character, so some- or even a lot- of it may not be true for the 'real' person behind Keilyna!))
Name: Keilyna Age: 16 Birthday: December 18 Likes: Wethkin, reading, drawing, cooking, Wethkin, reading, Wethkin, reading... er, maybe I'll just stop here, now. XD Dislikes: Dirt, poisonous things and fishing Wethkin out of toilets (i.e. Raindrop). Hobbies: Badminton, drawing, reading and volleyball. Residence: A 'neat and quaint grass-hut' shared with her sister Jinxeh on the Isle De Gambino.

Keilyna had wanted a Wethkin for a long, long time. In fact, she had wanted one before she had even learned of their existence. And she was sure, very sure, that it was all the fault of the books. But then, she always liked laying the blame for things elsewhere. Yet without the books, who knows what would have happened? A world without books would have been a very different world. Perhaps a world where everyone believed in the magic of the unknown. Or perhaps, a world where no one did. But another thing that Keilyna was known for was getting sidetracked, and off the topic. Like now.
So anyway. At the beginning, the books were quite thin. About the thickness of a chocolate frog, maybe. Set in the ‘real world’, mostly. But they still captured her imagination- and her eyes, thus intriguing her to read on. In some, there was even magic. It was the magic of fairy tales, but she was still very young, then. She soaked them up with great enthusiasm- much more than she showed for her food. Perhaps one could even say that books were her food, back then. And she daydreamed. Set in the worlds of the latest books she had been reading, the younger Keilyna would invent characters by the scores to interact with those that already existed. And of course, all the worlds, all the characters, were magical. She wished she could fly, and that something would happen in her life to transport her to a special place where magic was real. But, of course, her dreams never came true. And if they had done so, she probably would have regretted them not too long after. Though it took a while for her to become more of a realist.
When she was older, she gave up hoping for a new life in a world filled with magic. Instead, she hoped to find magic in the world that she lived in. After all, Keilyna was a person who believed that nearly anything was possible. Perhaps that might have been considered a dreamer’s view of the world, and perhaps it was. Or perhaps not. Different people think different ways, after all. And Keilyna had decided that time could not possibly be linear, so it would probably be cyclic. Like the earth’s rotations, or the planets’ vast orbits around the solar system’s fiery heart. Eventually, she thought, everything must repeat itself, even if it takes googleplex upon googleplexes of years for it to happen. After all, isn’t it supposed to be that matter can neither be created nor destroyed? If there is a finite amount of matter in the universe, then surely it can only be arranged in a certain amount of ways? But then again, that law about matter is supposed to apply to chemical reactions, and not anything else. And science always seems to have loopholes and exceptions… And again, it seemed as though Keilyna managed to get off the topic. Poor fickle-minded, fickle-brained indecisive thing. Where was she? Oh, that. So in the end, she decided that it would most likely be possible for anything to happen, if not in her lifetime, then a few billion lifetimes in the future, maybe. Or a few billion in the past. Or a lot more years backwards or forwards than that.
Perhaps these strange views were influenced by the books. Most likely, in fact. But they were one thing that she never lost interest in. And as the years passed, the books that she read grew thicker, and thicker. Eventually, Keilyna had graduated to reading books about the thickness of three to four marshmallows stacked atop one another. And those were set in entirely different worlds. And after reading those, she totally lost her interest in moving to a different world. But, oh, those books were so detailed, so engrossing, so amazingly wonderful, so totally indescribable. They could almost have been real. Which could have been why Keilyna decided she did not want to move to any of them, with all their hidden dangers and frightening enemies lurking in the shadows. Sure enough, there were good people in those books, but the differences between good and evil there were much less. Less black and white, more shades of grey. She certainly did not want to take her chances. And that was about the time when she saw her first Wethkin.
She was in Year 9 of the only school on the Isle De Gambino, then. And she was visiting the house of a certain friend who went by the name of Mooshroom. At first, she thought it was just her imagination when she glimpsed a flash of gold hovering behind a chair. But then she saw it again as she followed Mooshroom to the computer room to play around with her graphics program. Once, she even saw it for a full second before it recovered from its surprise at being seen, and dove under Mooshroom’s bed to hide. Eventually, she found the courage to ask her friend what exactly the golden thing she had been seeing around her house all day was, fervently hoping that it had not been a hallucination. She did not want Mooshroom to think she was too crazy, after all. As it so turned out, the golden creature, known by the name of Kianga, was no hallucination at all. And as Mooshroom coaxed it out from under her bed to say hello, Keilyna suddenly realised that it was the most magical thing she had ever seen in her life. From that day on, Keilyna never stopped thinking about the Wethkin she had seen for long.
Some time later, she discovered that Wethkin came in all shapes and sizes, not just golden balls of sunlight. And she discovered the location of the Wethkin Headquarters. Of course, she could not resist going there to have a look around. Shy as she was, she never gained the courage to actually walk through the door and go inside. It’s not right for me to do so, she told herself. There’s no reason for me to go in. I don’t belong there. At least, not yet. So she settled for peeking through the windows to watch the magical Wethkin and their owners, chatting, laughing and playing together. If only…
Two years passed, and during that time Keilyna’s subject notes and scrap paper began to grow mysterious pencil drawings of assorted, sparkly blobs. Anyone who knew could have seen that they were supposed to be drawings of Wethkin. But, of course, not many people knew. Not many people believed. But Keilyna did, and she continued to dream that one day a Wethkin would choose her to be its guardian. And that was one of her few dreams that actually came true.
Yet before it did, something else happened that nearly made her give it up. Her sister Jinxeh found a Wethkin, and brought it to their house to live. Her sister. Not her. At first, Keilyna was elated. True, the Wethkin nearly got washed down the drain to the sewage plant, but it ended up in the lavatory instead. But late that night, lying in bed and staring at the darkened ceiling of her room, Keilyna began to seriously wonder if there was something wrong with her. Of course there was. It took her a few hours to realise the truth, but she was slow. She was always slow to understand these things. A few hours of confused, irrational thoughts spinning through her head, making her believe she was worthless, stupid, unimportant. If anything could be called stupid, that was. But in the end, Keilyna realised what was wrong with her. She might have been worthless, stupid and unimportant, or maybe she was not. But that was not what was really wrong with her. Something else was. And then she knew it. Clear as the fresh, sparkling water of lands untouched by man’s handiwork of pollution. As great a gift to her as the water would have been to one dying of thirst. She had let her feelings get the better of her, as usual. It was wrong to feel jealousy at the good fortune of another. Especially such a close family member as a sister. Keilyna had let her dream of wanting a Wethkin get the better of her. Almost to the point of total obsession. No Wethkin would want to live with someone like that. Keilyna resolved to direct her energies elsewhere as she drifted off in to a relatively peaceful sleep.
The next day, Keilyna woke up feeling quite cheerful. That was one strange thing about her- she could go to bed the night before feeling totally depressed and worthless, and wake up the next morning feeling happy, self-confident and absolutely fine. Until something else set her off again, of course. She drifted out of her room feeling as though she could fly, feeling light as one does when a heavy burden has been lifted from their back. Her purpose- or not-purpose- remained as clear in her mind as it had the night before. It was like a multi-faceted crystal in her mind; a bright purpose, a shining truth. When she next encountered Jinxeh and Raindrop, she felt not jealousy but happiness at seeing the two together. And so it was that, in that same frame of mind, Keilyna's dream came true at last a few days later.

Wethkin manga!
Er... yes... during the time when Jinx and Kei's internet connection was flopping like a half-burnt pancake, Kei was, er... somewhat busy. Not very, though- as you can see if you actually look at the manga, she gave up on toning the second page, after spending about 4 hours toning the first on the computer. @_____@;; They aren't even that great anyway, so who knows if the Kei will even continue this weird manga-thing? XD;

For now, various snippets of info and whatnot shall be stored here. XD
{Wethkin} Egg Delivery!
Pika-Bunny In of the palm of your hand rested a small egg. Half of the side of it was covered but some sort of greenish nut or fruit shell, but within the tiny egg glistened a deep cranberry. You wondered what it would hatch into...-insert egg stage of Autumn/Fall Equinox here-
On the same day that I got my Fall (or Autumn!) Equinox eggie, I posted my 10000th post with this account- and it was on the Wethkin thread, too! O_O The 14th post on page 575, to be exact. XD (At least, it was the same day for me since it was already the 3rd of September when I got the eggie, though still the 2nd in many other parts of the world!)
On the same day that Kei got her Fall Equinox eggie, she was accepted into the Wethkin guild and was the 36th member to join!
On the 15th of September 2005, Fall Equinox hatched into a lovely little larvapuff! Though it was still the 14th in other parts of the world, again... XD
{Wethkin} Hatching...
Pika-Bunny Suddenly the egg begins to wiggle in the shell. Quivering, it starts to glow until...

 When dreams come true...
Fruitcake. Keilyna wouldn't have said it was her favourite food, but she liked it enough to make one. Seated at the dining table of the grass hut she shared with her older sister Jinxeh, she was currently engaged in the task of cutting walnuts for the said fruitcake with a little serrated knife. As she did so, her mind drifted elsewhere- after all, increasing the surface area of walnuts in a bowl doesn't use up all that much brain-power, does it? Keilyna's mind drifted to the events of the past few days. Including the adoption of Jinxeh by the little rain Wethkin known very unoriginally, yet quite affectionately, as Raindrop. She tried to decipher what it was that made her older sister not want to take responsibility for the little Wethkin, who must have had a reason for choosing to roost in Jinxeh's hair- not Keilyna's- on that fateful, rainy day. Was it some sort of connection that little Raindrop felt toward Jinxeh? Or just mere whim or fancy? Jinxeh certainly didn't seem to find any connection to the little Wethkin at all, with her trying to send the poor thing to the sewage plant at least twice in one day. Absently, Keilyna reached for another walnut to cut. But the object that she pulled towards her was not a walnut. Keilyna was too absorbed in thoughts of rain Wethkin and indecipherable older sisters to notice. The object was a tiny fruit or nut shell, similar in size to a cluster of walnuts stuck together. Inside the shell, a miniscule object that could have been some sort of berry was nestled. Almost mechanically, Keilyna's fingers moved to prise the 'cluster of walnuts' apart.
What?!
It took a while for Keilyna's off-with-the-fairies brain to register that this 'cluster of walnuts' did not feel like a proper cluster of walnuts at all. It was less lumpy, and felt surprisingly cool. And it was heavy for something that small. Finally, Keilyna's eyes flicked toward the object she held in confused bafflement. What on earth is it? Keilyna prided herself on those odd feelings of instinct that she experienced at times- such as when she just knew when her toast was going to pop out of the toaster, or that she was going to be picked to answer a question in class. And it so happened that another of those feelings hit her at that instant. Peering down at the alien object clasped in the fingers of her left hand, she suddenly knew. It's a Wethkin egg! Shocked and surprised, the precious object slipped from her fingers. It landed back in the bowl, its fall 'cushioned' by the hard, oily walnuts contained within. The little 'clack' of the egg's impact made Keilyna wince. I hope it's not damaged... But a Wethkin?! What was it doing in that bowl of walnuts, anyway? I could've cut it up to pieces and baked it in a fruitcake and I might never have known... Keilyna shuddered. Carefully laying her serrated knife across the top of the bowl of walnuts, she gently reached in to pluck the Wethkin egg from where it had fallen. Examining the object closely, she realised that it was half of some sort of fruit or nut shell with a tiny cranberry nestled inside. Now that she was actually concentrating, she thought she could even feel the magic contained inside the egg. Briefly, she wondered what sort of Wethkin larvapuff it would hatch into. Wethkin, she breathed, traces of amazed disbelief shading her voice. After so long... As Keilyna gazed with near reverence at the tiny egg cupped ever-so-gently in her hands, it began to shimmer and sparkle. Sometimes, dreams do come true!

In which Jinxeh is confronted with another Wethkin...
Wrenching the door open, Keilyna burst into her sister's room. Her right hand was cupped as though it were holding something precious, and excitement shone from her like radiat- er, bright sunlight? Typing on her laptop at her desk, Jinxeh looked up. Irritation was stamped like berry-juice all across her face. "What is it?" By the tone of her voice, it was clear that Jinxeh wanted to get back to whatever she was doing as soon as possible. She fixed her gaze upon her laptop again, and frown-wrinkles appeared on her face as she saw something that was not to her liking upon the screen. Peering across the room, Keilyna was able to see that she was working on her story again. That explained things. Jinxeh was always like that when interrupted in the middle of story-work. But this was more important. By 'this', Keilyna meant the sparkly object snugly nestled in her right hand. "Look!" she cried excitedly, holding the object out for inspection. Grumpily, Jinxeh tore her gaze away from her laptop again and peered at the thing. "What is it?" she repeated. "It looks like a poisonous avocado. And I don't want it. Take it away," she added. "But… it's a Wethkin!" Keilyna protested. "Can't you tell?" As a matter of fact, Jinxeh could not tell. And she didn't particularly care, either. "A Wethkin." She looked dubiously at the poisonous avocado-thing held so gently, so carefully in her sister's hand. The strange shimmers that chased across its surface looked rather dangerous to her- perhaps they were radiation? "Are you sure?" Jinxeh asked doubtfully. "It looks radioactive, too. A poisonous, radioactive avocado. Get it away from me!" Keilyna looked upset. "It isn't poisonous or radioactive," she protested. "I know it's a Wethkin." "It doesn't look like a Wethkin," Jinxeh retorted. "And if it is, it looks rather dead to me. Just lying there in your palm…" She moved her chair backwards, away from her sister. "It's a Wethkin egg. And Wethkin come in all shapes and sizes," Keilyna reminded her, teaspoons of frustration beginning to enter her voice. Jinxeh still looked unconvinced. "Prove it to me when it hatches," she countered. "Not that it ever will. Avocados are fruit, not eggs. The only things that hatch in avocados are fruit flies. Now, if you want me to get my story done, just go away." She turned to her laptop again and pointedly ignored her sister. Keilyna looked down at the sparkling egg in her hand and sighed. She would prove that a Wethkin was contained within to her stubborn sister later, but now… She turned and walked back out of her sister's room, kicking the door shut to let Jinxeh know just how she felt.

 Of fruitcake and nests...
"A nest. You need a nest." At this pronouncement from Keilyna, her Wethkin egg- sitting on her bed- began to rock excitedly. "No, that's my nest," Keilyna admonished. "Not yours. But you'll have one soon, I promise." She had just put a fruitcake into the oven- having checked all the remaining walnuts very carefully before chopping them to pieces, of course. Just in case... The egg stopped rocking, and began to spin with even more exuberance. It spun to the edge of Keilyna's bed and fell off. "Watch out!" Keilyna dived for the egg and caught it just before it greeted the floor. She placed it squarely in the middle of her bed. "Please be more careful," she told it. "Next time, I might not be able to save you." The egg did not move. "Good little eggie," she murmured, stroking it fondly with two fingers. "But now... what was it? Oh, that's right! You need a nest." Sitting down on the floor, fingers locked across raised knees, Keilyna considered her Wethkin egg. "You'd like a nice, soft nest, wouldn't you? How about I put some autumn leaves in it to keep you company? And... maybe some leaves and twigs? So it's more like a real nest, you see." The egg began to rock backwards and forwards at this. Keilyna couldn't tell if it really understood her or not. But she was sure it would find some way to let her know if its nest was not to its liking. She wandered out of her room, heading outside to see if she could find some suitable materials for the nest.
One hour later, a fruitcake and a crudely but lovingly made 'nest' in a little basket stood cooling on a bench top. Keilyna carefully placed her Wethkin egg into the nest, and stepped back to admire her handiwork. "Do you like your new nest?" she asked it. The egg began to rock backwards and forwards again. "I guess that means you do. But you know, I should probably go and get some of my English homework done now, so I'll do it here and keep you company."
Thud. Clack. The sound of aluminium foil being crumpled. Alarmed, Keilyna dropped her pen on top of an unfinished essay plan and looked in the direction the noises were coming from. She gasped. Shock. Horror. Her Wethkin egg had somehow managed to tip over its 'nest' and roll over to the now-cooled fruitcake, where it was happily rocking and spinning away! Whilst Keilyna was rocking and spinning away as she fainted...
Cake crumbs, chopped walnuts and all sorts of fruit flew through the air as the little Wethkin egg had the time of its life! It seemed as though it had found itself a much better nest than before...

From the mind of Keilyna...
And so I lie here in bed, reflecting upon the events of this most unusual day. It must've been the strangest day of my life, but also one of the best. If not the best. Well, except for the fruitcake bit. Ah well, at least Jinxeh and I won't get fat from too much fruitcake-eating, then. I would say I still find it hard to believe that I found a Wethkin today, but it would be a lie. It is way too easy for me to get used to things. But that is just how I am... for the moment. Like the whole indecisiveness thing. Whatever. I don't have to be coherent in my thoughts, do I? After all, it isn't as though I'm writing them down, is it? ((OOC: Well, she's not writing them down ICly, you know... XD)) Hmph. Writing in journals about what I did on that day is such a boring exercise, in my opinion. But of course this is my opinion- who else's could it be? Well... it could be someone's opinion that I am voicing, but anyway. I have thought of a plan that I shall attempt to put into action tomorrow. It shall (hopefully) prove to Jinxeh that the egg I found is a Wethkin egg. Plus achieve a few other things as well, but you'll just have to wait and find out. Pester me, poke me, you'll never find out till it happens... but then again, this is all in my head so who can hear me anyway? I hope that no one else can. But I suppose that one can never know...

 Keilyna's grand plan...
It was still dark outside when Keilyna’s eyes flickered open the next morning. She tossed, turned and closed her eyes again, but whatever she tried, she could not get back to sleep. So she settled for closing her eyes and ‘day-dreaming’ for a while, imagining stories and strange events that only she would ever know. As sunlight began to seep through the curtains and brighten the darkness behind her closed eyelids, she gave up staying in bed for any longer. She slowly got up and crawled out from under the sheets, then jumped off her bed onto the floor with her typical loud thump-noise. Pushing strands of her long, messy dark hair behind her ears and away from her sleep-blurred eyes, she made her way to the kitchen to find something nice- besides fruitcake- to eat.
Toast. One of Keilyna’s favourite foods, though no one could say why she liked it so much. Even Keilyna didn’t really know what she found so appetising in a mouthful of plain, crunchy wholemeal toast. All she knew was that it was nice. And that was all that really mattered, wasn’t it? Whilst munching her way through two slices of nicely browned, crunchy toast, Keilyna waited for Jinxeh to wake up. The little Wethkin egg lay quietly in its fruitcake ‘nest’, showing no signs of movement- perhaps the Wethkin inside needed sleep, too? Keilyna fervently hoped it wasn’t dead.
By the time Jinxeh’s room began to emit shuffling and thumping noises, Keilyna had finished both slices of toast and was sipping on a glass of chocolate milk. Since it seemed to be looking like quite the pleasant autumn day, she figured that her sister would probably go for her habitual morning jog before wandering along to the kitchen for breakfast. Then, she could put her ‘grand plan’ into action.
Half an hour later, Jinxeh walked through the door into the ‘dining room’. “Good morning,” she greeted Keilyna. “Good morning, Jinxeh!” her sister replied cheerfully- much more cheerfully than usual. Especially since Keilyna was known for being quite grumpy in the mornings. “Do you know what we’re going to do today?” Jinxeh began to look a little suspcious. “What?” she asked, a trifle warily. She didn’t trust anything that made her sister act like she was acting at the moment. “We’re going to pay a visit to the Wethkin Headquarters!” Keilyna happily explained to her sister. “You, me, Raindrop and my little Wethkin egg. Won’t it be fun!”
