First and foremost, these rules are subject to change. If they have changed recently, I'll add an asterisk to the title of the thread. After a week or so (if I can recall to do so, that is... remember, I also have a horrible short-term memory), I'll remove the asterisk.
So, let's get cracking with our list.
1. There is no godmodding to be allowed. Godmodding, in simple terms, is controlling the actions of another character within your post. Saying your character Billy stabbed Mary's character Susie and killed her is godmodding. Controlling the weather is not godmodding, in a way, but just make it a rule of thumb to not make it snow when it was blazing hot a moment ago, 'kay?
2. Mary-Sues and Gary-Stus will be chased out of this forum with torches and pitchforks. IE, give your characters some flaws. They have a gambling problem, they're afraid of water, they don't like tomatoes, I DON'T CARE WHAT. You need to give your characters flaws, some things about them that make them imperfect. Organic shapes are much prettier than geometric in more realistic settings, to put it more simply.
3. Use proper English when you are roleplaying, as if you were going to write a story. Instead of typing:
Quote:
*walks down the street* "Is there any place around here I can stay?" *shifts weight from left leg to right, glancing around*
Please express it like this instead:
Quote:
Kain walked down the street. "Is there any place around here I can stay?" he wondered aloud. He shifted his weight from his left leg to his right and glanced around curiously.
Of course, you do not have to use past tense every single time. It's just simply easier, and it gives a better flow for everyone to use the same tense.
3a. If you are going to speak out of character -- as in, not within the roleplay, just as yourself to the other roleplayers -- then please use some sort of OOC mark. OOC: or [ ] or (( )) or whatever it is you prefer. Use some sort of mark to let us know that you're speaking out of character. If you do use OOC: or something like that instead of separating characters like [ ], please give a mark that you're going back to in-character (IC) text as well.
4. If you are going to be going away for a while and cannot post, then please say something within the thread. It's very demoralizing to wait three weeks for a post, only to realize you had been on vacation without saying anything, you know?
5. No flaming is allowed in here, neither is trolling. If it's in the general guild rules, it's not allowed here.
6. If you want to use a different color or text, go right ahead. Just make it readable, okay? No blinding yellows in pinprick-sized font.
7. There will be a thread where you can suggest ideas for a roleplay plot. Once it has been suggested there, if people generally approve of it, you may make a thread for it to post any needed information on the plot and such. Then please make an OOC thread where all submitted character profiles can be posted. If you do not wish to personally do either of these things, then I will do it for you.
8. Please turn off signatures while in the RP threads. They can be distracting. And it sucks to scroll through someone else's sig to get to the next post.
