Milich is actually a relatively good mage, considering. I don't know how he compares to Luc in Suikoden I (I never used Luc as I always had a much stronger group and he always kept....dying
confused ), but what I DO know is that he has really high stats for magic and can cause great hell for your enemies. If you don't want him to do any fighting for you, slap a Flowing Rune on him and let him heal you.
Trust me. He's worth your trouble.

I n the second game, I hate Gantetsu. You have to be so strong to get him and when you do, he's like 13 levels below you and completely worthless.
It's not really that difficult to get him, is it? Just go to South Window some time after Luca's battle and get him- he's usually easy. That is, unless your group is more magically-inclined, in which then I'd advise you to take out your strength-tank characters from storage to help you out. With a little training first, of course, to give them that much needed boost.
Gantetsu never really bothered me. Besides, the Shining Head scene in battle/bath was most interesting.
lol Now as to my list:
Suikoden I: Leon, but not for the same reason as neko no miko. I despise how difficult it is to get him if you want to save Gremio in time, and also the fact that he participated in the Kalekka Incident. His quest for glory is nauseating, granted, but he still remains one of the greatest strategists alive. That is, until he was defeated by Shu.
Krin as well, yes, as I didn't really see the need of him. He could barely cause sufficient damage with his needle, but I still had to take him with me. Bother the no-brains.
Suikoden II: Neclord. Sure, he had great music that gave us all chills down our spine, but I found him an irritating returning villian. Was there actually a reason why he took those girls as brides? Were we supposed to be treated with little spawns of Neclord/Lilly running around shouting "I want to suck your blood!"? We can only wonder, I guess.
As for Suikoden III and IV, I don't have a PS2, so I have yet to play them. Some day, some day.
