... is probably gonna suck.

But, oh look, it's Destro:

Why isn't his head all metallic?!

WTF?

Oh, those things. I heard of it when it was first announced, and then promptly forgot.

I never liked GI Joe, or the equivalent, Barbie.
I used to kill my Barbies... trample them with the million horses I had. mrgreen

And now my friend is gonna probably drag me to it for the sole reason of Eccleston being in it. xd
*checks IMDb again* That guy from Step Up.. some other people.. and Jonathan Pryce as the President. xD Cool.

I was reading something about it a month ago and when I realized that Chris Eccleston was in it I just thought "wtf! he's playing Destro?" WEll, it ought to be......um....interesting to say the least

Forgot about this movie, but then I saw the trailer at the theater today. Looks pretty lame. Here's a link, with Eccleston's Destro right in the beginning:

Nothing like the Destro from the original cartoon:

I hope Eccleston at least got paid well for doing the part. As Michael Caine once said: "I have never seen the film, but by all accounts it was terrible. However I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific."

I'm gonna just tag-along with a friend if her little brother decides he wants to see it.

Besides, the only reason my friend and I watched Seeker: The Dark is Rising was for Eccleston's bad-guy character. Who really didn't have very many lines that weren't all stereotypical-cryptical bad-guy lines. xd
So we spent the entire movie going LOL HEY THIS LOOKS LIKE HARRY POTTER RIP-OFF (yeah, I know this book-basis was written first) and laughing at Nine CE pretending to be a doctor physician in a few scenes. ninja

Woman: "The doctor is here to see you."
*CE's character walks in LOOKING LIKE THE DOCTOR*
My friend and I: rofl rofl rofl rofl

*watches trailer*
It's gonna be released in August?

Slated for release in August, yes. I doubt I'd pay the $10 to watch this in theaters, though I will probably cave in and buy the DVD when it comes out just because Eccleston's in it.

Though the last time I bought a DVD only because someone from Doctor Who was in it was the Dungeons & Dragons movie, which had Tom Baker doing a brief cameo as an elf lord. That movie was godawful. You'd have thought I would have learned my lesson by now.

Hasn't this movie been ready for release for ages now? I heard about it last year while they were into filming. :/

LAWL. Tom Baker was a lot better in the BBC Narnia movie.
But then, that's Narnia, not D&D. xd

It looks like a good movie for kids who like seeing things destroyed, I guess. Half the reason I find out about random movies is for a few, or sometimes even just one, good actor in them. Even better when I turn on something and OH HEY LOOK it's so-and-so. razz

Like turning on Black Beauty (1994) (I link because there's 14 versions) for my sister and see a handful of good actors, including Peter Davison. biggrin

I used to watch All Creatures Great and Small, a show about veterinarians, because Peter Davison was in it. Nothing better than wasting an hour of my life watching the Fifth Doctor with his arm up the rectum of various farm animals... xd

I have heard of but not seen it.

Thanks for the mental picture, Hairy. Real nice. xp

Well...

I was supposed to go see the movie today, but about an hour and a half before I was going to be picked up, he called saying he didn't really want to go anymore due to his friend saying it was really crappy.

Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 40% (out of 100%). That's fairly bad but I expected it to be a mediocre film anyways. (Lots of action sequences for apparently no reason).

And we were going to a theater where we'd only have to pay $4 a ticket. So it wasn't like I was paying full price. Oh well. confused

I'm going to watch GI Joe tonight.

Let me know what you think. I don't have high hopes, based on the trailer I saw on Tuesday right before Harry Potter. Still, I heard it was much better than the latest Transformers movie, which was pretty much universally panned by critics, and still managed to make a bunch of money anyway.

At least tell me Eccleston did a good job. He seems a bit wasted on a movie like this.

I liked it, it still had a bit of the campy feel from the cartoons I loved as a kid, no P.S.A at the end tho, I was upset lol. Lots of things going boom and of course freaking ninjas. I don't think it was mean to be a great epic academy award winner, it's a movie for fun and nastalga peice at that of a cartoon from the 80's, the era of corny cartoons. If critics usually hate something then that means it'll either be good or they totally missed why it's amazing. Not saying it was an amazing movie but it took me back to my childhood so thats good for me. I give it 2 thumbs up. I would want you to see it based on you wanting to, not because of a critic or possability that a beloved actor might of had a kinda corny roll or not. It's a fun movie... And did I mention freakin ninjas.

I had to promise my husband that if we did see the movie, I wouldn't sing the DW theme whenever he was on screen.

Now I know. And knowing is half the battle. xd

Maybe I should give it a chance. Not so keen on the black uniforms, or the accelerator suit things, but I do like to watch things blow up.

Forget Snake-eyes... give me some Shipwreck!
