sad thing is that they have not changed words just for rhyming purposes that is how we talk , or at least the ocker ones .think i mentioned before that Steve Irwin is a distant Relly (relation , AKA " 'Lation "). Barbie- barbecue . Ercky= sick(what the word sounds like). underwear is something that only your grandparents wear , every one else has "undies" which can be divided into 'knickers" for the girls or "jocks" if you are boys . Most states in Australia still have limited retail open hours (when i was a kid they were only allowed to open weekdays 9-5 and half day Sat). Here the main stores are only to open weekdays , later at night on a Thursday and 9-5 on a Saturday. so shops being open sundays (and extra late nights) to make up for being closed over christmas is a kind of feature of the season. Chissy day seems to bring out the most affection of the normally reserved Aussie bloke (man) . He is likely to plant a kiss on his missus(Mrs) or maybe even slap her on the back side while loosening his belt and burping to congratulate her for a beaut lunch. He may then spend some quality time with the kids and a game of cricket outdoors so the sheilas (women)can natter in the kitchen (gossip = wash dishes) . At some stage the women will grab a drink and retire to the veranda , soon to be joined by the men who will soon fall asleep . This is a conveniant time for the small children to get crook (ill )on lollies (sweets) and the older to ones to nick(steal) beer and fags (smokes) .
All this wears the family out so much that the blokes have to spend the next day on the lounge watching cricket on TV while kids zoom around breaking the toys from santa .

Oh my....ANd I thought French was a hard language to learn. But really, it's all okay because of the accents. I love accents. The stronger the better. Ecspecially Irish and Scottish!

This song is just wonderful! I have some Aussie cousins. But they are Chinese so they have a sort of Chinese / Aussie accent.
