"Verloren!" Shiori called. Her voice echoed off the side of the tall mountain. "Soki! Kenji!" she called out again, there was no answer. "BO-OYS!" she shouted with all her might and stomped one angry hoof onto the hard ground. It truly sucked being the only female in the family.
Where are they off to now?! she huffed and puffed, worried about her younglings and love.

Green ears twitched as a sleepy stallion slowly opened one closed eye to the light of day, the call of his beloved mate awakening him from his nap. Slowly stretching his legs to get the blood flowing Verloren shot his head, pollen fluttering out from his short mane. About to heed Shiori’s callings the soft breathing of a sleeping creature caught his attention instead. The green stallion looked down and smiled at a foal colored very much like his mother, yellow and rainbow besides some brilliant greens here and there.
Verloren bent his head down to nudge the sleeping form awake for it wasn’t in his interest to get on Shiori’s bad side today. “Hey. Come one Soki. Time to wake up! Your mother’s calling us.” Trying to awaken the sleeping foal, Verloren wondered where that other foal ran off to…
A grumble and moan escaped the small yellow and rainbow form as the foal tried to shift his weight away from the bothersome voice trying to wake him up. He was having such a nice dream…

Kenji was nuzzled into the grass, blending into his surroundings where no one could disturb him. He was taking a nap, after running away from father and Soki. The grass was soft and very long, completely covering him like a blanket in the winter. He heard his mother's call through his daydreaming.
"Mmm.. mother... five more minutes..." he turned around restlessly, not wanting to wake up for another day of training, and a worried mother and wolf.
"BOYS!" Shiori shouted out angrily this time, startling the wolf asleep beside her. "Oh sorry Kaze, did I wake you?" she asked, her tone completely softened. The wolf got up and stretched her legs, with a huge yawn. "Please go fetch the boys, will you? They're driving me insane!" she muttered, shaking her head in disapproval and stomping her feet like an angry mother does. The wolf trotted away, elegant and stealthy, off to look for the boys.

The large stallion shook his head quietly as his golden eyes gazed at his yellow son. Foals these days… How typical. But, he remembered what it was like when he was a foal himself. A nice nap in the shade distracted by the promise of dreams was always a wonderful thing to look forward to. But, it seemed like he couldn’t wake Sokinnin up no matter what he tried. With a small sigh, Verloren walked off towards Shiori. At least one “boy” was better then none? His eyes spotted a yellow form sleeking through the grass with a rather furry tail following after. “Soki is in that small grove of trees napping Kaze,” Verloren spoke to the passing wolf familiar of his mate. “I don’t know where Kenji is but… you should be able to find him.”
Wolves were wonderful protectors, as he’d learned from his daughter’s wolf Horo. He trusted Kaze as he trusted Horo and Mai with his grandchildren. Quietly, the stallion went off in search of his beloved… angry or not, he was prepared to face her.
Soki opened one eye to see his dad’s large green form move off in search of mom. With a small grumble he laid in the cool grass, awake but with his eyes closed, waiting for his mom’s wolf companion to come seek out him and his brother. He didn’t want to really wake up though… The grass just felt too nice… Kenji probably thought the same thing… wherever that brother of his went off to. Twitching his short tail, the small foal awaited for the inevitable arrival of the wolf.

Kaze ran up to Verloren and danced around his hoofs, her fluffy tail bobbing up and down. Then, in an instant she was off to find the mischievous kids. Soki wasn't good at hiding in the grass due to his coat color, like Shiori's and hers, so she found him instantly. He was tossing and turning, still asleep. She snickered a little at the image in her head of him waking up when she would pounce on him. She stealthily crawled up close to him, body crouched low in the grass. Then she sprung up in the air and landed right on top of Soki, jumping up and down and making howling noises.
Kenji rolled around in the grass when he heard Kaze's howl. Aw, great. he thought. But since I'm hidden in the grass, I should have a few more minutes... He dozed off once again.
Shiori saw her beloved mate walking closer to their home in the distance. Her heart filled up with joy as she trotted over to greet him. She brushed her neck past his and inhaled the scent of his mane. "Good morning handsome." she said as she winked at him and motioned for him to come inside. She had lots to ask him about the kids while they were off sleeping.

Soki grinded his teeth as he kept his eyes closed during the relentless bouncing of the she-wolf’s pestering. If he could, he’d try and snap his teeth at the wolf’s fur but that would be a futile venture considering his current position and that Kaze was a lot faster then he was. One of these days… He didn’t think badly of Kaze but the she wolf was certainly much more pestering then his “aunt’s” wolf familiar… Then again, Kaze couldn’t talk back like Horo so it was probably for the best.
“All right. All right! I get it Kaze! I’m up!” Soki finally huffed in annoyance as he rolled onto his belly, tucking in his legs underneath him. Shaking his short mane, the young foal quietly blinked, allowing his eyes to adjust to the light.
Verloren smiled kindly at Shiori as he approached her. “Good morning. And what were you up to earlier in the day?” He was rather curious for he and the boys pretty much slept through the early sun. The green stallion noted the positioning of the sun and realized that they did take a rather long nap.

Kaze snickered at the colt she had awoken and went off to search for Kenji. He was good at hiding because of his color, just like Verloren, but she could easily sniff him out. She found him pretending to be asleep, snoring in a rather fake way.
She howled right in his face, making him jump.
"Alright, alright!" he protested, getting up to his feet. He got up too fast and lost his balance, falling right back down again after a few disoriented sways. His body was plastered to the floor, the dry mud rubbing against his belly. He couldn't see through the short fringe of green hair covering his eyes like a blanket. He huffed and puffed it out of the way, staring at the world through tendrils of grass.
Then he saw his brother.
"SOKI!" he jumped and sprinted at him on his short but strong legs. When he reached him, he tried to jump over him at the end of his gallop. In mid-air, his hooves caught on Soki's back and made him trip, dragging Soki along with him.
Shiori started walking towards the Teepee where a Owletta lived.
"I woke up not too long ago, just like you and the boys." she answered him. "I think Owletta went out. I'm not too sure where she went, but I'm sure she's strong enough to take care of herself, after all, she is a hunter." she paused and looked around.
"Where are the boys?" she asked. She was sure Kaze was waking them up and hoped the little wolf wouldn't annoy them too much as she wanted them to do some more training today.

ONE YEAR LATER
Shiori roamed the plains, looking for Verloren and the kids to tell them the good news. The wind brushed her hair, and she felt as though she were glowing. This wasn't abnormal, as the last time she had been carrying life, she had also had an angelic aura around her, making her feel as though she was invincible.
She propped her heavy body onto the ground, causing the dust underneath the grass to stir and blend her golden body into the field. She sighed at the skies, wondering how on earth she was going to tell her family that she was getting fat again!
She wondered what they would look like, and what they would name them. She wondered what kind of horses they would grow to become. She hadn't seen Sokkinin in a very, very long time, and the last time she had seen her other son Kenji was when he was heartbroken over losing Ziva. She dearly hoped that Kenji would find someone new, or somehow find Ziva so that he could grow to become as accomplished a stallion as his father was.
She was restless; the children would be arriving soon. She smiled at the thought.
