These mountains border the fire and the air regions. They are hot but other elementalist can survive in these parts. Not only are they hot but they are high in altitude, almost diminishing the Air's advantage in combat.

Valkyrie Faldain rode towards the small castle her father, Duke Faldain, kept at the edge of the mountains. Dammit, father, why do you have to have a castle in the middle of nowhere?!
She reached the gate of the castle, and yelled up for the guards to let her in. A few minutes later, she was let into the courtyard, where she got the shock of her life.
"What do you mean, my father is dead? How did he die?!"

"Milady, calm down. Everything will be explained in time. Your brother Emery, the new Duke Faldain, will fill you in, if you'll just calm down enough to see him."
"Fine." Valkyrie shrugged. "Take me to my brother. I'd love to see how he plans on explaining this."

Half an hour later, Valkyrie rode out of the gate, fuming. Father was ill for a month, and Emery didn't bother to send for me?! And he sent for the cheapest doctor in the area! It was practically murder! I wouldn't put it past him to have poisoned Father, either.
A shadow fell over her, and she looked up to see the eclipse. She looked back at the castle, triumphant. "And you thought my warnings about a war were bogus. See this, Emery? Its a sign." She shook her head, and continued riding. "Its obvious you won't be wanting my help. So all I can do now is pledge my sword to the king."

A massive black golem strolled up to the base of the hill and stopped. As it stood there it looked fairly innocent, like a lost pet but large and stony. It stood still and vacant as it waited patiently for something. It waited for a few minutes before sitting down and remaining motionless again. Through the passing hours it remained stoic and silent like a statue.

Hrothgar came strolling down the country road casually. He approached Obsidion who sat at the base of the hill before a small keep. In a chipper mood he stepped up behind his golem and tapped it the shoulder, waking it up. "C'mon Obsidion. I'm not so sure this is a tactical location. I haven't seen any military establishments on the once over. Lets get a look at the eastern coast. Flamma city is probably going to be in an uproar as soon as they find out. I'll have to contact Smoldar once the heat's off."

Obsidion stood up alert and faced it's master. Hrothgar's hammer glowed a faint heat from the tiny cracks as he inspected it once more. Testing the face of the weapon, Hrothgar pressed it to his hand. With an accepting nod, he started off down the road to the east, putting his hammer away. His absent-minded golem plodded along after him.

Cairo finally reached his post. The Mountains on the East side of the nation. He was raised in this region, so he naturally took up this base as his main fort. He walked pass the main gates, and nodded to the other soldiers. They always knew smething was wrong when he came back. He went to his room, and dropped off his supplies. Mostly weapons. Then headed for the General of the Base.

When he got there, he explained what happened at the Capitol, and the fortificated base went on standby, waiting for any attacks. They've also lost ocmmunication with the Western Base, and that scared the General more. He sent two horses and two birds out with messages for them.

Emery Faldain and his manservant rode along the mountain range, the former looking now somewhat refreshed. So far, there seemed to be no pursuit from air, although the servant kept looking nervously behind him.

After a while, Emery stopped his horse, startling the other man, who managed to stop just behind him.

"Sir? What is it?"

The Duke turned, and looked at his servant, one hand bearing a lit match. "I'm afraid you're going to have to die now. There can't be any witnesses to what I've just done."

"Wait! Sir!"

Emery once again said a single word, and the flame obeyed, devouring the man and horse, leaving only ashes behind. His task finished, he turned back around, and continued to ride along the mountains.

Stopping just before the gates to a small castle in the mountains, Seifer pulled on the reins causing his nightmare to come to a halt rearing back and neighing loudly before the gate. Hoping this display would turn some heads first, Seifer then called in to the guards. "Guards! I am Duke Seifer Drathir, I must speak with Duke Faldain immediately. This is a dire situation!"

Seifer shook his head in disdain. "He's not in?!" He strode off not even bothering to look back to the guard he had been speaking to. "Who takes a vacation at a time like this?" He turned his mount around and snapped the reins, sending them charging back toward flamma city.

Mayura entered the mountain range from the east still heading west. She took some time to look around as she passed but noticed a lone keep in the distance, little more.

Kujaku emerged from the western mountains. He wasn't tired but crossing these mountains was rather tedious after having just recovered from a serious fight. He looked back once to make sure the giant and golem were still following after him as he continued crossing through the rough terrain.

Hrothgar took a few steps and long jumped a few times to catch up to Kujaku. Apparently the half ogre was a better climber but he didn't seem as up on jumping. This made catching up a bit easier. Obsidion seemed as unaffected as usual but this was natural. Seeing that golem made Hrothgar wonder what it's like to be emotionless and feel nothing sometimes.

Kujaku glanced back again briefly at his traveling companion's recklessness. Barbarians are given to a bit of chaotic and reckless demeanor, but this guy seemed to take it a bit far. It was somewhat strange how he didn't seem to mind jumping from place to place across treacherous mountains like this. Perishing the thoughts, he took a turn south finally making his way to the flatter wetter lands of Separated Seg. He could see the jungle ahead at last.

Hrothgar stopped jumping after Kujaku as soon as he noticed the approaching trees. It was nice to travel down hill and be out of the dryness of the flaming mountains. Reaching the downhill sloping, Obsidion curled up and began to roll down the side of the mountain toward the trees below. Hrothgar scratched his head in confusion to what Obsidion, It was probably Smoldar's doing... I've never seen Obsidion do a rolling maneuver like that before.

Ciel emerged from the skies above the eastern jungle as she made her way across the mountains heading back west. A sparkle of fairy dust trailed behind her as she flew, making it appear as though a distant twinkling butterfly was traveling overhead. She wasn't the fastest flier but she was making much more headway than if she were traveling on foot. It took some time, but it appeared she would make it over the mountains unnoticed from the few stone structures below.
