I love mystery books with a twist, the ones you can never figure out until the end even though they give you all the clues. I don't count the type where the clues are buried, non existent or its the gardner who is mentioned only in passing on page two and never again. I'm talking about complex storylines that genuinely pull it off, you don't feel cheated at the end. I like to spend the whole book trying to work it out. I like to do the same with movies.
What is the best twisted tale you ever read? Short story or novel.

I'll have to ponder on that one, but I will get back to you on it.

I'm not much for mystery, but I'd have to say And Then There Were None, Agatha Christie I think. confused

I had to read that book for an English class in highschool. It's also titled Ten Little Indians. Just in case you would like to know that tidbit. It was pretty interesting and I would definitely say that it keeps you guessing the whole way through.

I think "And Then There Were None" was one of Agatha Christie's best. My other favorite of hers is The Murder of Roger Ackroyd and The Witness For the Prosecution, both stories keep you guessing til the end.
I think the greatest twisted tale ever has to be Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery" it may not be the best of her writings but for a surprise ending, it just can't be topped. (I'm a big fan of hers anyway.)

Hmm I think any of the last 3 Pendragon books! You never know what Saint Dane's plan truly is until the very last page! It's amazing!!
