Ijn lay trembling in the shade of the trees. She had never strayed this far from her fathers side before and she didn't know what to do. Every sound made her cringe in fear and her unbelievably bright eyes were welling up with tears. She tucked her head as close to her body as she could manage willing her father to find her and bring her back to safety.
The outside world was big, far to big for her. The sound of a birds wings flapping in the branches above her head made her cry out before curling up tighter. "Someone help me..." She whimpered softly.

He hadn't ever really wandered far from his own parents... But this really wasn't all that far. He still knew how to find his way back, after all. All he'd have to do was turn around and walk straight in the direction that he'd come from, ducking under that low branch and he'd see Mother, Father and Chione again.
Hearing something he paused, ready to bolt... Until he realized that the 'something' he heard had to be a 'someone'... Asking for help? "H-helloooo? Who's there? Are you okay?"

Her eyes squeezed shut as a voice reached her ears. It wasn't her father. She wondered if perhaps she shouldn't have tried calling for help. Each word that reached her worried her but at the same time they calmed her. The voice belonged to someone she didn't know but they were not threatening her. Quite the opposite. The voice seemed to be concerned about her.
"I...I..."She squeeked out slowly lifting her head to look around. "I'm I-ijn...and...I-I'm l-l-lost..." She sniffled softly. She couldn't see anything around but trees. What if it was something dangerous, like a malicious spirit, trying to trick her? Maybe she shouldn't have answered but she was so afraid of being alone.[/b]

"Lost?" He tilted his head to the side, short tail twitching behind him. "Momma says that it's not good t'be lost. She tells me an' Chione t'stay close and not wander far. Didn't your momma tell you that?" He asked with curiosity, trying to find the source of the voice. "Or maybe your Dah if your Momma didn't. My Dah usually says the same things as Momma when it comes to getting lost... At least, if you come out now you won't really be lost because I'll have found you?"

She sniffled and nodded her head then realized that she couldn't be seen from where she was. "Yeah...my momma and my daddy both told me...b-b-b-but there was a weird smell...and I went one way and daddy went the other...and now...I don't know where I am..." She fell silent again as he suggested that she should come out. She wasn't too sure she should listen.
If it was a monster then she would surely be eaten and she didn't want that. If she didn't come out, though, they might leave and she would be alone again and she didn't like that one bit. "I-I'll come out...b-but only if you promise that you will not eat me..."

"Why would I want to do something silly like eat you?" His brow furrowed for a moment before he shook his head. "Mama says unicorns help people. Wouldn't make any sense to eat 'em if we're helpin' them. B'sides, I'd rather eat grass... And clover."

A unicorn? A wave a relief washed over her. Her father had told her that unis were good creatures and liked to help people. If one was here then she was in luck. With hope in her heart she stood though she was still a bit shaky. "A-alright...I'm coming out." She said slowly heading towards the voice. Hopefully he would be able to take her back to where ever her father had wandered off to. Then she wouldn't have to be scared anymore.

He stepped back, pale eyes searching the space before him, a soft smile curving his lips as the filly emerged. "See! Now you're found. My name is Endymion... What's yours?"

A shot of fear went straight through her when she finally laid eyes on the owner of the voice. He looked rather frightening. After a moment of staring at him blankly she was able to think again. Her father had said not to judge based on appearance alone. Her eyes settled on his black horn that confirmed his claims of being a unicorn and she was able to relax.
"M-my name is I-ijn." She said quietly bowing her head as was polite, or so she had been taught. "It is very n-nice to meet you Endymion."

He took a step back as he saw the filly startle, not wanting to frighten her anymore then she already seemed. He didn't want to hurt her. He just... Didn't want her to worry. She was small, like he was... And being lost was never fun.
"H-hello, Ijn." He managed a soft, shy smile as he looked up to her for a moment before glancing back down. "Where... Do you think your parents are?"

Ijn's ears flicked backward as the other foal's voice wavered a bit. Was he scared too? She wasn't sure if she could be happy about that? It was nice to know she wasn't dealing with some over confident jerk, but she needed someone she could depend on. Not someone who was just as scared as she was.
"I-I think they're probably back at home...that's s-somewhere in the forest...but...I-I can't r-remember how to get there." She stammered out. She couldn't help but feel that it wouldn't help at all. The forest was a big place and unless you knew where the teepee was that served as her home you couldn't easily find it.

"The forest... Is pretty big." He nodded slowly, thinking for a moment before glancing over his shoulder. "But my Dah knows everything about the forest. I know my way back to him... Maybe he could help us find your Dah?"

Ijn was impressed, his dad had to be pretty smart to know everything about such a big place. "That sounds like a r-really good idea..."she said softly her voice filled with hope. If there was someone that smart around it was almost certain she wouldn't be lost from her family much longer. "I-ff it isn't a-any trouble...could we please go ask your dad? I'm sorry i-if I'm being a b-it of a bother..."

"It's not trouble." He smiled, tail flickering behind him as he turned to trot. "Follow me! My Dah's this way... He'll help, promise." At the very least, maybe she would be less frightened around another adult than she was around him.

She nodded quickly and picked up her hooves and followed after the colt. "Thank you." She said softly. Ijn kept close to him never falling more then a few paces behind for anything. She didn't like feeling lost it was scary but keeping close to other people always made her feel less afraid. It was as though she thought if someone else was around nothing could possibly happen to her.
