My fiancee and I are gettin' hitched May 17th. We asked his mother to pay for our wedding cake, but she assumed that she was in charge of picking out our wedding cake.
So the other day, we go to her house and she comes home saying "Oh I ordered your cake."
O_o
I was furious. She didn't ask what style I wanted or even what color I wanted! I hadn't even told her how many people planned on showing up! And she got the cake from Wal-Mart! Really? Wal-Mart? I didn't even know they made wedding cakes.
Now, I'm no Bridezilla. I don't freak out much. But this pissed me off. (In the end, I called Wal-Mart and cancelled her order and re-ordered the cake I wanted elsewhere.)
But that woman drives me CRAZY! She is ignorant. She tries to tell me that I'm raising my daughter wrong. (And that my daughter looks nothing like me, just looks like my fiancee.) Plus she's the most racist woman I've ever met and for some reason she thinks that it doesn't bother me.
ARRRGGGGHH! *angry hand gestures*

You raise your daughter, it's your wedding, it's your cake!
Some people just don't want to let go of the control of their children, and have trouble expressing things, I suppose. My Mom is a strange bird too. I showed her my engagement ring, she insisted on one twice as big from my Dad so she wouldn't be outdone by me. She is forever in competition. (My ring is a flawless half carat marquise cut solitaire diamond @_@ My poor Daddy.)

Yeah my parents reaction to my ring was a bit different. My Mom was like "That's it?" But my soon to be hubby is tight on money. (We weren't planning on getting married so young let alone have a little one!) But I love my ring, I'm not much of a jewelry person so I wouldn't like something too big. =/
But yeah... Parents! *sigh* >.<
