Background History: In the beginning of the Hawaiian Islands Papa and Wakea gave birth to the first four islands. Hawai'i, Maui, Lanai, and Moloka'i. Kaho'olawe was Kanaloa's child. Papa and Wakea also gave birth to Ho'ohokukalani. Papa then left to go to Kahiki (Tahiti). During that time Wakea. . .well Wakea, made love with his sweatdrop daughter, Ho'ohokukalani. Their first child gave birth to Häloa. It was undeveloped and was planted. It suddenly turned into a Kalo plant. Wakea and Ho'ohokukalai tried again and gave birth to Häloa, the first high chief. Thus to Hawaiians Häloa the Kalo was our older sibling. This is the Hawaiian view of the Kalo.

Personally, I don't like the thought of eating ANYTHING that's "genetically enhanced" or whatever... it sounds wrong. People shouldn't mess with the kalo, or any other plants for that matter! It's against nature...

Nope, but I do know that there were plenty of Hanalei kalo farmers who went. Oh and here a fact for those who think GMO is good. "A drug in Kona proposed to be inserted into Kona coffee beans were given to six people in Britain. All six had to be immediately sent to the hospital for multiple organ failures." these people have no idea what they are doing and what they're putting in our food.

Anyone who thinks that genetically altering our DNA is helping society is delusional. For one thing, it is highly immoral, thatʻs our kupuna they are trying to change. Who has the right to play God here! Another thing, by ingesting something that has been altered at that level, eventually, we will become altered, perhaps mutated-thus perpetuating down through the generations. I could continue till the cows come home, but this topic gives me migraines.
Kūʻē GMO Kalo!!! mad mad mad

Haloa was the name of his brother who was named after their first child. But modifying the kalo plant is just like desecrating a religious icon. It's like if some Buddhist came and said grace using a heavy metal song and screaming it at the top of his lungs with a distorted guitar. Yeah some people might think it's cool but it's very disrespectful to the religion.
