The young man finally found a quiet place near the docks, where no person was in sight. The sun was high and the rays of the sun penetrated the thick clothing that was wrapped around Aren's body and that left him feeling very warm. Today, very little fishermen and people went out of their houses, on account of today was a day of rest for the whole town, that meant for people to spend quality time with their families. That was good for the dust, because he could walk around the town with less paranoia than he usually has. Finding a spot near the sparkling water, he sat on the edge of the old dry wooden planks and savored the cool sea breeze. Looking around he could not see any soul so he concluded that it was partially safe to remove the scarf that was around his neck, and expose his dull blue skin to the gust of wind.

This was a rare peaceful moment for him. Amid all his running around and hiding from people, plus all the orders from the goddess, this was a nice change of pace.

Sable didn't like the day of rest. It meant having to go to town with Mia, and not by herself like usual. She spent the entire day trying to get away from her watchful guardian, only to be tugged, dragged, and followed, defeating her efforts.

"Kids should not wander the city alone" She would say over and over. Sable wondered if her guardian was insane. How did she know that Sable really was a child, for all the tiny lady knew she could be a teen already. Sable knew she was a kid, but that didn't mean Mia knew for certain.

Unless she did, then Sable had no idea how...

It was boring. No shops were open, no one was out, Mia insisted that walking around the city on these days was the best way to spend time. Sable didn't see it. But grudgingly followed her around the town.

When they reached the fishing district near the docks, Sable saw her escape route. She ducked quickly behind a stack of barrels, and moved slowly and carefully so that Mia wouldn't hear her as she climbed up the stack to go over the fence, still hidden by more barrels.

Once over the fence she ran for it. She was certain that with this much of a head start Mia couldn't keep up. But she looked back just in case. No Mia was to be seen-

*BAM*

"Owie..." she muttered falling back from the sudden impact that she hadn't seen comming, "Sorry about that..." she said to the stranger she ran into, who was minding his own business sitting on the planks near the ocean...

The young man was deep in thought right at that moment. His eyes were glued shut, and he sought support from something near him, but nothing was there, he laid his hands firmly on the wooden planks as he started to drift away into slumber. Normally, he would not sleep just anywhere but he was deathly tired from last night, when Aevah insisted he trained his fighting and magic skills with some of her peculiar creations... he hated fighting.

As time went by, the more he slipped away into the dreamworld and finally he could rest and for him, this was so relax----

A sudden force drove him to fall to his side, now wide awake, he looked to the opposite side and wondered what caused him to wake up. He was not conscious at all about his face that was exposed to the world. He faced a young girl, who had peculiar pointed ears and very colorful hair, he stared at her in amazement. And after a few seconds he finally was brought back to reality and turned his face away instantly.

''Augh, this is not good.''

"I'm sorry." Sable repeated getting herself back in a means to sprint again, "Really I am, so if a short lady with red hair comes this way angrily... please don't tell her you saw me?" Sable looked around, no Mia still, she could wait for a response at least, and at least take a good look at who she ran into.

The man was unusual. He was very pale except for near his neck, where he was blue. He didn't look like anyone she had seen before. Not that she had seen most of th population, with as big as the city was. But she had seen a fair amount. Maybe he was a tourist.

He obviously didn't like her running into him, his manner of muttering that this situation was no good made Sable suspect that he wasn't up to any good. And that, Sable found potentially interesting as a way to spend the day. Turning on her childlike mannerisms, sable grabbed his arm, "Or better yet! could you hide me? I wont be any trouble promise!"

...Did she see me?

He was still looking away as the girl spoke, she seemed a little frantic and in a hurry. Maybe she did not spot his blue skin? Aren hoped for the best as she continued to speak and he grabbed this opportunity to reach to his hood and put it over his head, casting a dark shadow on his face.

The young man finally spoke again, facing the child with his hood and his scarf partly covering his chin--the blue was not very noticable right now.

''Well I really don't think that's a good idea-----'' she grabbed his arm very suddenly, and this made Aren flinch a little as she spoke with a childish charm. Aren could not help it, it took very little to influence him.

''Alright, but who is this woman we are hiding from exactly?'' he asked her, a smile forming on his face. This girl looked unique, from her eyes to the color of her hair. He couldn't help but to feel something....different for this girl. He actually liked this child--even if it seemed that she was such a firecracker.

"A woman I live with, she is so annoying." Sable explained as she looked to and fro, making sure that Mia wasn't around, "She won't let me go out by myself, and today she was making me walk with her in this abandoned place, talk about boring!" She slipped around so that she was slightly hidden by the man, while still holding his arm, "I had to escape, and if she finds me she's going to be angry." She smiled up at the person "So please hide me k?"

He blinked momentarily, the word confusion written so clearly on his face, thankfully the young girl couldn't see it.

The dust listened quietly as the bright haired child went on about 'the woman she lived with'. Her mother, maybe? But why would you refer to her as that? "Your mother?" he managed to slip in the middle of her talk, his dull gray eyes observing her actions. He let her take his arm and get closer to him, the young man wasn't used to this at all-- but welcomed the action all the same. His voice was soft, "Alright, but just for a while, okay?" he patted her head gently and noticed something very... odd. Aren couldn't see it before because her hair was covering it but her ears were... sharp and longer than normal people. Was she an elf? No, that was preposterous! Maybe.....

He decided not to speak about it first as he kept the young girl patrially hidden inside his cloak.

"Thank you." Sable smiled. She was slightly shocked when the guy pulled her in under his cloak, it felt weird almost like he was protecting her. But at least this way Mia wouldn't find her. "She isn't my Mother you know." Sable spoke up after a moment of silence. She had heard him use the word, and figured it was best to clear that up now before he tried to do the good Samaritan thing and hand her back to her 'parent'.

"I just kind of found myself in her house one day, I'm still young so I don't have anywhere else I can stay at night since no one will hand an apartment to a kid, so I stay there. She has this thing of acting like my parent, but she isn't, and it gets annoying." She explained to the man, "If I was older I'd probably be living by myself somewhere, but for now I'm with her. That's what I meant by the person I'm living with." She wondered if the guy was listening. She smirked, probably not. After all none of this was his business, and a kid was just using him to hide from someone. She ought to be using this time to figure out a means of escape for when he stops escorting her.

But the sky was so pretty.

The teen's ears perked up when he heard Sable's words, opting for the possibility that this girl really wasn't human but a dust. But why couldn't he feel it at once? His senses were getting weaker these days..

''Oh but it will be hard if you try and live by yourself,'' his voice was soft, ''At least she takes care of you, right?'' he removed the cloak a little from her head and moved his head so that he could see her more clearly. Her bright colored hair reflected the sun, making it seem like it was glowing. Aren felt a little weird that he was actually protecting this girl from her guardian but this situation was strangely calming for him. His thoughts went back to the possibility of her being a dust, so he finally decided to ask her something.

''Uhmm...'' What he was going to ask was a little odd, especially since he was talking to a child, he didn't know in what way he could put it, ''Do you.. have magic?''

..well that was subtle.

"Takes care?" She mused, the lady gave her a roof and food. Oh! and told her not to leave. "Its like being in prison, you get a place to stay and food but you can't leave as you -" She was cut off by his second question. Magic? she mused in her mind. What was magic? No one had ever taught her that word before, was it odd? Was it a bad thing or a reason to send her back to Mia? She didn't know. But she did know that if she knew more she could answer, so instead of answering she giggled, "What do you mean 'do I have magic?' is that something you ask every wondering soul you meet?" she non-nonchalantly asked, wondering more and more who this man really was...
