Hufflepuff Common Room

Yeah, just about everyone's in here nowadays. I think the Sorting Hat is getting lazy...

Godfrey was lying on his bed in the fourth year's dormitories, books and parchments spread out on his quilt. With his squishy-happy-blah attitude lately, he didn't feel like sitting in the library, finding an empty classroom, or doing homework in the common room. The Room of Requirement, well, everyone knew about that. So if he wanted a place to relax and finish his homework in relative peace, his bed would have to do.

Currently he was lucky and was alone, but there was no telling to how long that would last. And just as he was about to add another paragraph to his already lengthy transfiguration assignment, he heard a 'tap-tap!' at the window.

Knowing that tap, a huge grin spread across his face and after capping his ink, he jumped off the bed and over to the window. His owl, looking rather tired, hooted at him from the sill as he pulled open the window.

With a tangible air of excitement, that only seemed to irritate his owl, he untied the small scroll from his leg and went to open and read it.

"HOOT!"

Godfrey almost fell over, and immediately realized his error. He checked his pockets quickly, remembering he'd put away some bacon for when Heinrich came back. But he found nothing. Then again, he wasn't wearing his robes. So, under the watchful and irritated eye of his owl, he went over to his bed and opened his trunk, pulling out a robe and checking in its pockets. The second robe he checked bore fruition, and he brought the bacon over to his owl, who grabbed the bacon in his talons and promptly flew off, intending to have his snack and then go to sleep. For some reason flying long distances was getting to be a chore, and he couldn't fathom that all the bacon and mice and muffins had anything to do with it.

Godfrey closed the window and went back over to his bed, sitting down on it. He pulled the cord to make his bed curtains close, so he'd have a bit of privacy. It was generally a rule that if someone's bed curtains were closed during the day, you didn't burst in without at least hollering first.

It didn't take him that long to read the letter, and he smiled at it despite the fact that Voldemort hadn't answered most of what he'd asked. He hadn't truthfully expected him to, and felt silly for gushing about all the things he did in his letter.

Voldemort's last sentence also made him remember he'd completely forgotten about asking Voldemort about a few spells, but it was his own fault so he'd figure it out by himself.

The main thing he was feeling at the moment was excitement! Finally! After so long, he'd finally see his friend again, and Clementine! And boy, he couldn't wait to see those many-headed snakes. He didn't quite understand why someone would want to have a snake with twelve or fifteen heads besides the fact that you could, but he still thought it was all pretty cool.

He giggled at the part about Clementine, having an image in his head of the gigantic lizard sneaking utensils from the kitchen, and getting into all the good teapots. But what was with the string of lights? Did Voldemort decorate for Christmas?

The image of the intimidating Dark Lord trussing up his house with flashing lights, and carefully levitating the light up Santa in his sleigh with all eight reindeer, made him break out into a fit of giggles. As did the image of Voldemort enjoying tea by the fire and Christmas tree, and Clementine in one of those silly Santa hat and beard combos people put on dogs.

He would have rolled around on the bed, all the images in his head swimming around and re-arranging themselves in even sillier ways, but he didn't want to accidentally ruin his books or homework.

Godfrey got off the bed, after reading the letter two times more and memorizing when he was supposed to go to Hogsmeade and where. He went to his trunk, rolling up the scroll along the way. A bit of digging around in his trunk led him to pull out a small box, which would only open for him. He stuck the scroll in there with all the others, and then shut it and put it back, re-folding his robes while he was at it before shutting the trunk.

By the time he sat back down again, he was thinking that he should maybe tell Josh. He could just likely say he had to do something Saturday, and Josh'd be a bit disappointed but okay with it. Still......

It wouldn't be very fair to Voldemort. He'd have to ask him first, if he didn't get too excited and forget. Grinning a little still, Godfrey laid back down on his bed and tried to pinpoint what he was reading last, picking up his quill.

*Sitting in the common room*

... Well, I don't know much about it, only that your sister has detention and so does your cousin Albus Severus.

Hmm. *Slumps lower on the rather lumpy armchair he'd settled in, watching Sam over his Herbology textbook* That doesn't sound cool.

Even worse is that there are awful rumors about Al and Dameon Hellstorm. I mean, Dame is a nice boy, a bit rude but who isn't on a bad day, but I don't think your aunt Ginny would like to hear about Al having homosexual encounters in a public corridor.

But my cousin's so obviously into blokes he'd make a girl feel guilty for kissing him. *Grinning slightly* Good for Al, being himself like that.

I guess. *Nibbles her lower lip* My father said Ginny and Harry Potter's fights have gotten physical in the past, and he had to help pull glass from a vase out of Harry Potter's shoulder when Ginny struck him with it. I wouldn't want to hear that these rumors started another fight between them...

Nah, aunt Gin's magic did it when she got drunk and mad, 'wasn't on purpose.

And Al can't live his life based on what his mum wants. What kind of life is that?

I guess you're right. *Sighs and curls up on the couch, resting her head on its overstuffed arm* I just hope it all works out for the best.

Josh was laying face-first on his bed, a pile of books and scribbled on parchment in front of him. He had a quill in his mouth, ink slowly dripping from the tip and staining the bedspread below. "******** fourth year." he mumbled under his breath, taking the quill out and tapping it on the parchment in front of him, one of his feet kicking absently back and forth. He was obviously frustrated- even his mohawk was slightly bent and disheveled looking.

"Sometime I hate this magic stuff... maybe I better work on Astronomy. At least I can understand most a' that..." He pulled out a black and white photo of Saturn, half of the labels already filled in. After a few moments of blankly staring at the image, he gave up, pushing it far away from him and laying his head down on one of his books. "******** rings... who cares if they're made of ice or whatever their names are..."

He closed his yellow eyes tightly. At least no one else was in the dorm at this time of the day, preferring to work in the common room or library. He absently wondered where Godfrey was, turning over to stare up at the ceiling.

Godfrey panted, hands on his knees. The common room had a few people conversing or doing homework in it, but he ignored them, trying to control his breath.

"Phew." He sighed to himself a minute or so later, standing up straight. His arm hurt a bit where he'd been hit by a chair he'd managed to enchant, but he was mostly out of breath from running up the stairs. They'd seemed rather cranky today and kept trying to drop him off some place else rather than back down towards the first floor so he could go to his dorm.

Godfrey crossed the common room and took the stairs two at a time anyways, since he liked to challenge himself in lots of little ways.

"Hey, anyone in here?" He pushed open the door to his dorm, seeing there was no indication of anything on any doorknobs, and glanced over at his bed- noticing Josh in the bed next to his.

"Oh, hey Josh!" Godfrey crossed the room quickly and bounced up to sit on Josh's bed- and took advantage of Josh's position by putting an arm over his stomach and using his elbow on the bed to prop himself up. "Er.... were you doing homework?"

He smiled at the scattered books and papers as he moved his other hand to Josh's stomach, absently drawing little circles on his shirt with a finger.

Opens his eyes, startled by the sudden assault. "Godfrey! Does it honestly look like I was doing homework?" Lifts a brow, grinning. It was surprising how often Godfrey guessed where he was, and managed to find him Josh, sometimes seemingly by accident. Some weird boyfriend sixth-sense or something. Or maybe Josh was just that predictable.

"And what are yooou doing? Stalking me again, I suppose?" Pokes Godfrey lightly on the nose, sitting up and stretching his arms in the air. "And why are you out of breath?" He tilted his head which made his crooked mohawk look even more off kilter, unable to keep from grinning. He couldn't help but feel better when Godfrey was around. Most of the time.

Godfrey laughed. "No, I guess not. I forgot for a second that just because you've got books spread all over your bed, doesn't mean you're actually using them."

Godfrey wrinkled his nose and smiled, and leaned back a bit when Josh sat up, getting more comfortable as he remained partially draped across Josh's legs. He let his hand fall to the top of Josh's thigh and crossed his ankles, one foot placed firmly on the floor.

"Oh! I was doing homework! Working on my Charms? Anyways I left one of my books up here but it doesn't matter, I'm done for today."

Godfrey looked around at all the books and things on the bed, and 'slyly' nudged one by Josh's feet away so it fell on the floor. With enough room now made, he kicked his shoes off onto the floor before getting up onto the bed properly, leaning back against the pillows and sitting so that one of Josh's feet was between his knees.

"And the stairs seem to have a temper today, or something."

Godfrey shrugged. " So...... you want to do something?" He reached forward and lightly pulled at Josh's sock.
