Welcome to the hottest place on earth. This is our HeadQuarters for two reasons.
First:This place is the most sacred and hottest place on the whole land, only fire elementalist can survive here.
Second:This is in the middle of our whole land and the hardest to get to.

In the very center of the center is the large HeadQuarters for our army. This is also a town so houses, taverns and, shops line the outside. Be warned of the giant volcano, it has been "inactive" for quite sometime but could erupt at any time. This Volcano reaches all the way down to the core of the earth where the hottest substance is found, we will be using this to make our weapons.. Many geysers this land and the combination of fire and water is extremely hot, but not for us. This place is the ultimate defense for the war now we need an army.

(5/1/09)
Due to un-investigated events, the central volcano of the area has undergone a series of powerful eruptions. Most notably the mountain itself has become 30% shorter from the frequent eruptions. Even the most powerful fire elementalists find this region inhospitable not because of the extreme heat but due to the constant lava flows, pyroclastic flows, toxic gases and eruptions. The terrain is mostly unstable and land masses crumble in the short times which they stand. Eruptions occur in as little as ten hours apart or as long as two and a half weeks between. Eruptions last as little as ten minutes or as long as a day depending on how long it has been since the previous.

The most current residents are now earth and fire elemental spirits who have used the ruins and lava pits as their residence and gateway to the surface world. They serve and worship under their deity and leader, Smoldar.

Hrothgar rested crouched atop a peak within view of the town. He smiled a sinister arc as he got a panoramic view of the city and skyline. "You fools, you take advantage of that which you know so little of. This is too perfect. I didn't think those hotheads would be stupid enough to station themselves in the one place too hot, and with too little fuel for them to survive in. All that defense will go flying out the window if that volcano erupts and floods out their town with liquid stone." Hrothgar began laughing, he could hardly contain his joy. The anticipation came bursting forth as his laughs echoed through the hills.

As Hrothgar's laughter subsided, He checked his pocket and drew a card from it. He inspected it with a smile. "...cause home is where the heart is." Hrothgar's body began to darken, his skin becoming more coarse and hardened like stone. A rocky form stretched across his head forming itself into a rather jagged helmet. The earth expanded across his upper body, stretching down to his legs forming tough armor. Hrothgar rolled his shoulders then leaped from the peak, charging toward the volcano.

Hrothgar came to a stop at the edge of the crater. With a sinister grin, he cracked his knuckles then stooped down to get to work. He drew a circle into the cinder rich ground and filled it in with symbolic lines as he mumbled some incantations in terran. As he finished the circle, He punched his hand into the ground and pulled it out before backing up. The ground began to rumble profusely as the circle glowed dimly. In a burst of light a figure of blackened stones and searing heat rose from the circle. The giant let out a resounding howl as it stretched its arms high above its head. Rather than the previous bow, the figure began to speak to Hrothgar in a deep rumbling voice that sound much like the earth as it rattles in a quake. "This place... Hrothgar, why have you brought me here?"

"Welcome home, Smoldar." Hrothgar slyly said nodding his head. He cast a hand out to draw attention to their surroundings, "This is the place right?"

"Answer me!" Erupted Smoldar in a rumbling voice. It raised it's fist, gazing down at the man, "Why have you brought me to the conquered land that was once my home?!"

"You're stronger now then you were then. You can take it back," Hrothgar glanced openly at the base ahead before continuing, "after a little remodeling." Hrothgar held up the card, "And after that, your freedom."

Smoldar turned around to see the crater, it's back facing Hrothgar. It lowered its arms trying to maintain its composure. "Why are you doing this for me? What's in it for you?"

"We have the same enemy. I want to vanquish them just as badly as you do. A war between the people of elements is coming very quickly. This base is their most important stronghold, and it was once your home. With the destruction of this base, we will cripple those who conquered your homeland before the war even begins. I don't view you as some heirloom, some kind of inherited weapon to do my bidding, but as an ally to assist me in combating my foes. I can smell your hatred for them, as clear as the burning sulfur. This is your chance and mine, for vengeance!"

A rather massive burning hammer emerged into Smoldar's right hand. It nodded once accepting Hrothgar's terms. "I see..." Smoldar raised it's searing arms, and called forth reaching out to the volatile earth below. "Rise! Rise my brethren and claim your rightful home from the vile humans!"

The ground began to tremble greatly Scattered piles of hot rock began to assemble into hundreds bodies very similar to Smoldar in form. Gathering all around the crater, they raised their arms resounding a battle shout.

Off in the distance to the south, a rather large blocky object could be seen bounding across the peaks heading to the east.

Hrothgar watched with content as Smoldar rallied forth its kind to attack the fortress. His content turned to surprise as Smoldar started shouting for the volcano. The ground rattling with the voice of Smoldar.

"AWAKEN SLUMBERING EARTH, CRY FURY UPON YOUR OPPRESSOR! UNLEASH YOUR PRIMAL WRATH!" With that, the volcano rumbled fiercely. Hrothgar started jumping down the side of the mountain immediately realizing what Smoldar was calling for. "Oh s**t! He's going to blow that volcano sky high!" To protect himself, Hrothgar formed a hard granite shell around himself and began rolling down the mountain. He positioned himself to head east away from the immediate vicinity of the town and the path of destruction.

The Crater cracked and buckled before exploding violently as the volcano began to errupt. Magma burst forth from the remains of the crater widening the hole and flooding out the fort town with searing lava, volcanic bombs, and a hail of ash. Smoldar's troops emerged from the lava and ash bearing great stone weapons, attacking and picking off any stragglers who could get clear of the lava and the impact of cinders. Nearby vents errupted violently, filling valleys and spaces between peaks with lava.

Some hours later Hrothgar felt something grasp his defensive shell. A very familiar large hand if it couldn't be mistaken. Smoldar had fished a rather large and warm granite ball from a lava stream and held it up. Hrothgar burst from the sphere landing at the side of the stream and gasping for air. "I guess ...that was... my crash course... in holding my breath." He breathed deeply for a few seconds longer before looking up. Smoldar stood triumphantly before the now large bubbling lake of lava ahead.

Seeing the great wide volcano, the sparse disastrous remains, and the many victorious earth elemental spirits sent a bit of a shock to Hrothgar. He stood up and continued to gaze upon the volcano and the wreckage only to be distracted by Smoldar's voice.
"We are victorious. We have our home once again."

Hrothgar fished out the card from his pocket. With one last smirk, he casted the card into the lava watching it burn away. "A deal is a deal... Well, you're free. Time is short for me. I have to finish a campaign and catch up to my golem."

"We are in your debt. If you need anything, feel free to summon." As Smoldar finished it's sentence, it raised a hand. With a bright flash a rather large dark metal war hammer formed seeping with lava and resting on the ground at Hrothgar's feet. Hrothgar took a bow and smiled sinisterly as he lowered his head. He picked up the hammer and rested it over his shoulder. "Thank you, I shall treasure your gift Smoldar." He nodded and started heading east to find his golem. Smoldar gave a wave and turned starting toward the ruins of the town with a few other elementals.

Hrothgar landed half way down the mountain, taking a moment to survey the area. Obsidion's sudden landing a little higher up the mountain nearby distracted him but only for a brief second. The area was almost unrecognizable. The only familiar sight was the bubbling lake ahead and the streams springing from it. "They work quickly..." Hrothgar covered his face with a stone mask, His stone plating slowly re-emerged as he finished his thought. "It looks like the eruption made things hotter around here. Much hotter... I can barely breathe here now." He looked at his undaunted golem with a jealous leer. Lucky b*****d. Beyond the Golem's shoulder was a visible brick stonework opening in the side of the mountain. Above that opening, a relief carving of a man standing before a volcano with a raised hammer. Curiosity pulled the Hrothgar and his loyal minion into the doorway.

Seifer strode up through the mountains on his trusty steed. He scratched his head riding up along the steep rocky trail trying to get his bearings. Some landmarks were missing. He came to a stop at the edge of a rather vast lake of lava, watching spirits dance about in the pool. He stepped off his steed and looked about the peaks and valleys trying to figure out where he was, then finally unpacked his map and compass. "I don't understand it," he said to his horse. "Hell on earth should be right here. These are the coordinates, but the mountains are missing. There's..." He slapped his forehead in a far less than elegant display of correction. He placed his hand over his face and sighed. "The mountain must have erupted," he lowered his hand and looked about the land again. "...but to transform the terrain like this and without warning? The Seismologists would have sent word years ago for an eruption this powerful."

A fire spirit danced about on some congealed stones nearby in the lake oblivious to Seifer's observation. "Could the elemental spirits have done this? Did we anger them in some way?" His eyes moved to an earth spirit sitting at the edge of the lake. "Could this have been their ancestral homeland?"

Seifer approached the edge of the lava and called out to the fire spirit. He spoke the tongue of crackling flame naturally assuming this would be understandable by the spirit. "Spirit of the flame, what has happened to the settlement that rested here?"

The fire spirit seemed uninterested in conversation with him as it continued to frolic about amongst the heat and stone. Seifer called out once again. "I bid you, answer me!" He grew a bit impatient almost reaching for his rapier but forgetting how little good it would do.

The spirit grew impatient with the hostile man. "What sort of arrogance commands a human to believe he can demand of the neglected and forgotten spirits?" It approached him with a graceful leap across the lava to the edge of the lake, bending over and glaring at him eye to eye... if it had visible eyes, but face to face none the less. "I shall tell you. Your 'Hell on Earth' is the hell for your greedy and revolting kind. Those who disrespected the elements and took them for granted. Those who soiled our sacred lands, crushing them, constructing atop them, and desecrating them. Their bodies have returned to the flowing magma and searing fire. They repent their sins in the flames and earth they believed was theirs to control."

Not easily intimidated, Seifer was fairly shaken from the words, and the building heat of the now angered spirit. He was reeling, but he could not step back.
PostPosted: Sat Aug 30, 2008 2:40 pm

Seifer took a deep breath to regain his composure. "We did what we must to survive. There is war for us on the horizon. If we do nothing, our enemies will crush..." Before Seifer could finish his words, the spirit interrupted, leering in and hissing in rage. "Your enemies?! Who else must suffer at the hands of your futile desire for conquest?! How much more of this wonderful earth must die to bear your burden?!" The spirit was clearly livid, throwing it's fiery arms up in the air and ranting at the man, like an angry parent scolding their child. Seifer dropped to his knees in fear and broken will. He could only imagine that fiery face matching the rage it exuded, but he could not turn away.

The spirit continued, leering in lower to meet the man's face as he had fallen. "Where are your infantile answers now? TELL ME, HUMAN!!" The stone spirit stood up recognizing the rising tension at the edge of the lake. It calmly waddled over.

"But... I..." In the face of Seifer's despair, the spirit did not let up. "LOOK AT ME! LOOK ME IN THE EYE AND JUSTIFY YOUR GREED, WRATH, AND AVARICE! JUSTIFY YOUR THIRST FOR THE BLOOD OF YOUR OWN KIND, AND YOUR DESIRE TO CRUSH ALL WHO STAND IN YOUR WAKE REGARDLESS OF THEIR INNOCENCE!" The spirit could kill him out of seething rage, but was interrupted with a calming pat on the 'shoulder' if it were one, by the stone elemental spirit. It mumbled something to the angry spirit before pointing to the broken man on the ground.

The fire spirit began to calm down, turning and leaving Seifer be. The stone spirit looked back once at him before treading off. Seifer curled up in a fetal position stricken down by the words and rage of the spirit. He was left in complete shock, dead inside with his pupils narrowed to pinpoints and his face permanently etched in holocaust.

((Ugh, I need a tissue after that.))

Tyane strode up the mountains, the muscles of her legs screaming against the mistreatment. "Just a little farther..." she assured them, and the dog panting beside her.

Reaching the top, she stopped dead, shocked by the sight in front of her. Where once there had been a village, now there was nothing but a huge pool of gradually cooling lava.

"What...happened here?" She whispered, struck. She could remember the town there, the streets she used to run down as a child. Unbidden, memories of the house she had burned down swarmed in front of her eyes, the sounds of screams pounding in her ears. Some remote part of her could feel the tears running down her cheeks as she stared at the bright red liquid.

After a moment, the memories disappeared, buried again, and Tyane looked around, searching for a clue to what had happened. She heard Siena barking anxiously, and turned to see her dog sniffing a man lying on the ground.
PostPosted: Sat Aug 30, 2008 9:51 pm

Tyane ran to the man, kneeling next to him. His eyes were still open, although his pupils were hardly visible. His face seemed frozen in some sort of horror. She put a hand to his throat, and felt a heartbeat, although it was slow and rather weak.

He looks like he's in shock. What did he see?

Leaning on her staff, Tyane stood up, her brown hair blowing in a wind she could have sworn hadn't been there a moment ago. She swung her staff in the air, chanting a spell.

"Goddess of Fire, hear me now! Grant me the power to deliver the mind of this man from the death in which it resides! Let me heal his injuries with the power still dormant within me!"

Finishing the pentagram in the air, she screamed, feeling the power being dragged forcibly from her body. The pentagram descended onto, and then into, the body of the man before her. She felt the spell finish, and then she could feel nothing, as she fell towards the ground, her body crumpling from the stress. As the darkness consumed her, the girl had one last thought:

Please, let this work...

Roused by an unseen element, Seifer twitched. He grew slightly more animated as he curled up and began rambling to himself in a shaken voice. "But... Where would we go? What must we do to survive? I don't understand... Would you have us all just die like that? Must we atone for our prosperity?" Seifer attempted to stand up, his broken will could only carry him to a crawl. His weak and rattled spirit gave as he collapsed again. His hand found a familiar warmth. Living skin, there was a person right next to him. He wondered how long they had been there, if they had felt the same wrath he had.

Seifer knew he wasn't physically hurt, His will was crushed. He couldn't hardly move, he couldn't see anything, he felt as if he was physically crushed rather than just mentally and emotionally. "Is this..."

Siena nudged her mistress, her cold nose feeling that the girl was still warm. She wasn't dead, she had just used up far too much power in one go. Stupid child...

Tyane's eyelashes fluttered as her mind returned gradually to consciousness. She could feel her dog rubbing against her, hear her whining softly. She forced her dry, cracked lips to move, to form words, but her throat refused to make any noise. Instead she coughed, dispelling the volcanic dust from it's lodging in her throat. She sat up, reaching for her water bottle, and realized something else.

The man had moved. He was now right next to her, mumbling something to himself. She quickly drank from her water bottle, and then offered it to him.

"Here. You should drink something."

Upon hearing the word 'drink', Seifer reached out. He had no idea where. Everything was dark, So dark that he could not even see his hand out in front of him. He shuffled his way from getting to his hands and knees then sitting down. "Dear goddess, have my actions left your favor? That the spirits betray me as well?" He brought his seisurous hands to his head, running them through his hair just above his forehead. He began some strange vocalization. It would be difficult to tell if he was laughing maniacly or weeping sobs of immense sorrow.

He suddenly raised his head looking around. His eyes could still take in no light, no vision, but he was sure that there was a person right before him. "You there. You must hurry! Warn Duke Faldain. Hell on Earth was lost. We've precious little time." With a shaky hand Seifer reached into his armor and pulled out a pendant with his family crest on it. He held it out, the chain rattling from his twitch. "Duke Faldain can not turn you away with this, Tell him that this is a direct message from Duke Drathir."
