Where's the best Haunted House you've ever been to?

If you're live anywhere(as in like, 3000 miles anyweher...it's that good) near Salt Lake City, you'll have to check out Rocky Point. It's really famous, and done by the wife of a producer of Jurassic Park, so she's got access to all sorts of Hollywood Sets and effects. Pure Genius.

Now, the link is in my signiture, because I love it so much, and it's finally open(even tho, may it be, only on Thrus Fri and Sat until October). But before you push me aside for thinking that all haunted houses are the same, let me explain.

Firstly, I HATE it when I got to haunted houses and they use complete darkness for effect. For example, I went to this one in Wildwood, NJ, and there was an entire hallway that you had to feel your way through the hall because it was so dark. To me, that's just...cheap trick. This place has NO 'dark' areas. Yeah, sure, there's some places that arn't 'well-lit', but for the most part, the lights are on. Why? To see all the detail! The place is crawling with the perfect touch. Freddy Kruger's boiler room? Yeah, lit...and you can see EVERYTHING...including him. It's cool. The Lord of the Rings forest? awesome.

Second, I like it when people get REALLY into thier job. They had zombies walking around that would just stop and follow people really closly behind them. They wouldn't say anything, and when the guest turned around...the zombies would smile all crooked and walk away. It's more funny than scary...but scary all the same. They do that in the line outside too(cuz the line is WICKED long and goes outdoors everynight(but this is a good thing, I'll explain in a sec). Or, at this one area, they had a crazy lunatic who escaped fromt eh mental hospital. He would stop people in line so it holds up everyone and ask weird questions like "You praying for your mommy yet?!" But the thing is, it was fun. We'd talk back to him like "Nope, just your mommy." And he smile all crooked and let us pass.

Thrid, creativity. Like nothing I've ever seen in a haunted house before. All the rooms are based off of horror movies. It's brillinat to be walking along and then, "OMG! Look! It's Texas Chainsaw Massacre!" (the original one...) Every room is a surprise. Ok, one room that I remember that wasn't in any movie I ever saw was the clown room. Why are clowns evil? I dunno. I think the whole evil clown this is way too cliche. HoWEVER! When you go into the room, they give you 3-D glasses. Weird. But all the walls are splattered with 3-D paint, so there's floating dots everywhere. Not to mention, people in black suits witht he same splatter than lean up against the wall so you can even see them till they run past you...then they blend in again. And it's light in there...they arn't disapearing into the dark. Loved that room. So trippy.

Fourth, the line. Yes, probably my favorite part of this place is the line. WTF? your thinking. Well, the inside line is all set up like a graveyard. Creepy, dank, fog, zombies walking around, blah blah blah. BUT! Every half hour...music starts to play. Well, diffrent music than the creepy eerie noises like Haloween the movie music and such. Anyway! Music starts to play and all the Zombies get together off to the side and...they DANCE! To the song Thriller by Michael Jackson. OMG...it's so cool. Cuz they dance like Zombies...all jerky and such. It's by far the most entertained I've ever been.

And lastly, I like this place because it's scary in a fun way. I don't go in there thinking I just blew $15(yeah, it's expensive, but worth it) on some cheap dark tunnel. I go in there thinking, "damn, this was worth it!" I LOVE scary movies...and this was just the perfect way to celebrate Holloween.

SO! If you ever get anywhere near the place, I highly suggest it. I'mt rying to convince my husband to go up tomarrow night...even tho it's 4 hours away. Gas prices suck...but it's so worth it.

Also, feel free to write about YOUR favorite haunted house. I'd love to hear of other great ones!
